We always eat here when in the area. Whether for the Covered Bridge festival or a couple of days at Turkey Run state park. Food is good and reasonably priced. The motif is a mix of outdoor and motorcycles. Service either inside or out has always been good. They do have bands on some days. Not what I remember. Been a while since I've been there, and apparently, it's changed hands. Saturday evening, there's a band, it's busy. All good signs. Good crowd, dinners on tables looked great as we were seated. And waited. Short-staffed, it seemed. The three of us asked for a bit of time to decide. We certainly got that! When server returned in the nick of time, I was ready to leave. Ordered 2 starters and dinners. Prompt service, but very small proportions. I guess if the prices aren't printed on the menu and something like "subject to market pricing" is, that should be a sign. Friend 1 ordered a burger and fries. Good proportions. For him. Friend 2 ordered the cod sandwich and fries. Looked like something one would find on a school cafeteria tray. Me and friend 2 had literally half as many fries as Friend 1. I had ordered the "fish basket". Long John's is a larger meal, at a better price! It was literally a kid's meal. Slaw came out earlier than the meal. Not cold, but cool enough and was OK. Fries were undercooked and warm. NOT hot. The meal literally would not have satisfied an 8 year old. Fish with no smell, other than cooking oil, which smelled OK, but no fish smell? Meanwhile, the guy at the next table had a tenderloin big enough for 2 people, and enough onion rings, too! Server returned, and I sent the meal back. By then, friends were nearly done eating. Server asked why. I explained it calmly. Instead of trying to compensate, I got an argument. I left. I won't be going back. Why 1 of 3 in a party would get a good sized dinner, while the other 2 gets kids' meals is beyond me. And no offer other than "Would you like to order something else?" If we had another hour to kill and someone else to dine with, maybe... but... no. $24 for 2 drinks, a sandwich and fries for a child (maybe...a small child) and 1 small appetizer, to me, is ridiculous. It's a shame, because it was a long drive for us, and it's been a while since I've been well enough to go out and enjoy an evening with friends. Had family from Texas, I suggested we meet at 36 for dinner. Total disappointment. The appetizers were decent. Two got grilled cheese and fries. Both said it was cold. The meal was brought out in pieces. One meal the meat came the baked potato was forgotten. My meal with the wrong side which was a ribeye was served to another guest. They had to remake mine so everyone else was nearly done by the time I got it. The kid that brought it dropped it on the table with no knife. Since another guest was done eating he have me his knife. The menu is very scant now. Use to be one of my favorite places to go. Very disappointed in how this place has gone downhill. read more

We've only eaten here a few times and the food and service were typically good. On this occasion the service was totally lacking but when our server was around she was friendly. Just never checked back till we were done and waiting on the check. Never checked back for refills or to ask if the food was ok. Food came out one item at a time. Never seen this happen at any restaurant. One sandwich came then a salad. Next was a side of cottage cheese. Then the last sandwich and fries. Fries had half raw bacon on top so they weren't eaten. Sandwich and chips were amazing, the macaroni salad could have used a little more mayonnaise and some extra seasoning imo, but that just a personal preference. Horrible service. It was raining during the Covered Bridge Festival. These guys had a line out the door. We accidentally entered in a side door and could see a dozen or more tables empty. These seemed to have plenty of service, but wouldn't seat people. Actually ridiculous. We ended up sitting outside because you could seat yourself and we waited 13 minutes without a menu or drink order taken before we decided to just call it. Horrible rude people working here during a busy day. they should be prepared to handle it better. read more

My husband had a steak and it was over cooked and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, my fried shrimp made a return visit later in the evening and I was so sick with what appeared to be food poisoning. We aren't barflies OR Harley Davidson fans, yet. here we are, at the Hog Pit, an outdoor Harley bar. LOL The outside seating is what drew us here as their patio is really nice. The inside restaurant looks decent as well. We split the walleye fish dinner, breaded and fried, with a salad and baked potato. Add an extra side salad and we had more than enough, along with our Black&Tan beers. The fish was wonderful! The first time we went was kind of off; service was slow and lackluster but the food was okay. We decided to give it another try on a Saturday evening and we're glad we did. The place was packed so we weren't expecting the best. After we were seated at our table, a bright cheerful and energetic woman in her late 30s or early 40s named Jennifer announced with flair that she would be our server for the evening. The experience was remarkable. She made us feel like we had our own personal staff even though she clearly had tons of people to take care of. Very professional. She was very energetic, kind and just had a great attitude. Nothing was out of place. Refills were prompt and we never had to ask. This was totally a different experience we were not expecting. It's funny how one person's attitude can make or break a place for the customer. We have been back several times since and highly recommend it to anyone so much as driving through Rockiville. You have to try the tenderloin and the beans whos name I can't repeat here. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. The place is a taxidermists paradise. read more

I came here during the Covered Bridge Festival with a group of friends and overall we had a good experience. The waitress was really nice and the ambiance was really neat. I will say, we were very let down by the menu though. We expected a lot more options to choose from. We were told there's less on the menu during the Covered Bridge Festival? That really doesn't make sense to me, as that's probably one of the busiest times of the year. I just got a cheese burger and fries, it wasn't really anything to brag about. Hopefully there will be more on the menu in the future and we'll make a trip back! read more

Excellent food. We had the chips w brisket and beans, amazing (hot slop chips). The burger was amazing as well. Each of us had a Bloody Mary, while it was small it was very tasty. We were there around the lunch time, live entertainment. We sat outside, lost of shade, umbrellas and a couple overhang structures. We went inside to check it out as well when we're finished and definitely was not impressed with staff. Outside staff was incredible. Service was pretty good but hostess wasn't overly friendly, maybe not best placement for her. BUT we were seated right by the men's restroom! Who designs a restaurant with the bathroom door literally adjacent to tables where customers are eating???? That alone left a bad taste in my mouth. If you ever decide to wander 36 west from Indy to the Wabash River, you'll likely see a bunch of bikes parked all around this joint when you're passing through Rockville. Don't let the bikes deter you, its NOT just a Harley hangout! (I ride a Triumph) This place is like Frodo Baggins, there more to this establishment than meets the eye. Great food, free peanuts, friendly service, cool taxidermy, awesome crowds & plenty of space! Its almost like a combo of Rural King / Texas Roadhouse meets old school frontier saloon. Sitting down in here is straight up faux-frontier, its nostalgic but not tacky. Food is great & service is friendly. The peanuts are super salty and you throw them shells on the ground! The brisket sandwiches are $7 WITH chips. The sweet tea is legit tea, and really sweetened as you'd expect. You really can't knock this place for value or food. The service is as fun as you'd expect from a place with many biker patrons. All in, its a great place to hide out from the elements for an hour or 2! read more

What a fun place! Decided to go here during a bachelorette weekend in Rockville Indiana. If you search places to eat, this place pops up when you search places to eat or just need an activity. After doing a bit of exploring around someone actually recommended eating at the hog pit which is attached to the saloon. Such a unique and fun environment! I loved it! The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our group and we had an awesome time people watching. The food was awesome! Most of the items seemed to be off the smoker and delicious! I decided on some street tacos and I loved them I can honestly say that I've never had a smoked pork taco but I am glad that I can say now that I have. Mouth watering and so flavorful! First time here since we aren't from Indiana. The building looks closed from the front. We entered from the back down a sparse hallway. The interior is full of all kids of stuffed animals and antlers. We sat at the bar. I had the fish basket. For $11 it came with 3 pieces of thin cod, fries and cole slaw. It was very good. My husband had the burger. It tasted like it was flame broiled. Yum. Everything was served in a timely manner. People were nice but not overly friendly.
