The "large dog" side of the dog park

Good: that it's in the neighborhood. And quiet. Bad: the water for the dogs is aerated and hard to collect to fill the water bowls.

When i first reviewed this dog park i wasnt aware of the "clique" of owners who dont really watch their dogs while they're there. It can definitely get a little hectic, and god forbid you ask one of them about their dog they look at you like you're crazy. If you do decide to visit this park, definitely go at off peak times, and NEVER on weekends.

Love this park! And most of the people are great that bring their dogs! We all watch out for each other's dogs & most of the time there aren't any incidents

The park is a fun place to go all year long. The park has several sections to visit. In the spring and summer months there are plenty of things to do from picnicking to golf. The children's playground is a fun activity area for kids of all ages with lots of activities. There are plenty of picnic tables and a few grills to use as well. The other side of the park has a dog park where your pet can meet up with their buddy as well. Close by is a small pond which has an exercise area with different cardiovascular equipment to use outside. Several times In the summer they also put up an inflatable movie screen where they will show movies while you relax in the grass on your blankets or lawn chairs. In the winter it's a great place to go snow tubing. The snow tubing is expensive in my opinion, but the benefit is that you won't have to walk up the hill since there is an automatic line that you grab and it pulls you up. If you want to save some money and don't mind walking you can sled 10 feet away on the side of the hill from the paying snow tubes for free.

This is a very Nice park to take your dog. There's a small dog area for dogs under 30 pounds and a big dog area for dogs over 30 pounds. The park has benches to sit on and free doggie waste bags to dispose of your dog waste in the trash bin. There's Plenty of parking and the best part it's free. I recommend coming here during the weekdays as the weekends can get crowded. However even on weekends you find plenty of space for your dog to roam and play. If you're in the area come by and enjoy the beautiful scenery and take Fido with you.

I'd never been to the Middletown area before, but I'm glad our friend decided we should walk her dogs here. The lake is so picturesque, it was the cherry on top at our picnic. We went to the arboretum next door and loved the arrangements, decorations, and general vibe of the place. Definitely worth a visit on a sunny day.

Beautiful upkeep small and large dog park beautiful pond where dogs can swim In (at least I think it's allowed). Overall beautiful place definitely recommend going.

Beautiful spot for a picnic. And if you have a dog, he'll have fun in the spacious clean dog run. Highly recommended.

Great dog park! With a few things that could be upgraded. I…read moredrive 20 minutes to come here as a treat for my dogs, as it's the largest dog park I know of and has some great off-leash allowed walking space as well. There is basically 4 different areas in this park - a small dog area, 2 large dog areas and a short wooded path that you can walk on with your dog. Sometimes I've been here where they close half the larger dog area, I'm not sure why this is. In the parking lot, there is a port-a-john for us humans, and trash can/doggie bags for the pups. Everyone seems to be really responsible here with their dog which is a major benefit. Some cons: - can be muddy after rain - no trash cans or bags provided inside the park area, only before you enter the park - sometimes they close half the park (I don't know why this is?) - limited seating/benches for humans

Typically always pleasant experiences with the people and other dogs. As long as people follow the rules that is... However, I have to include an important warning for those in the small dog section about the trees above that drop these fairly large rock-solid chestnuts at unexpected periods of time at lightning speeds!! One of these suckers hit my 10 pound shitzu in the back pretty hard and she was yelping in pain/fear! :(

We love Bowdoin Park for so many reasons. The park is so spacious with so many nooks and crannies…read morethat there's something for everyone. Multi use sports fields, swing sets, toddler play areas, great spaces for picnicking, and for my purpose, Dog exploring. My black lab mix has to sniff frequently to feel gratification. So our trips to Bowden Park happened roughly once a week so he can read all the "Social PEEdia.". Regardless of what time or day it is, you'll always find people enjoying the trail, walk, quiet, picnic, entertaining children, or using one of the several permanent gazebo structures to host a celebration. I think it's still possible to rent out the lodge for overnight stays and private parties. I would defer to them to confirm that There's a little chapel on site and I've never been inside, but it looks absolutely adorable. This could be a great place for a casual country wedding celebration and picnic in place of those high priced extravagant weddings. This is our third visit this month and I have failed to report in two other times. If you have a dog, this is a great place to visit but make sure you bring your 6 foot leash. It is mandatory Like all parks in the county, the park closes at dusk. Be respectful and carry your trash out with you if you can't find a receptacle of which there are many. And by all means, clean up after your pet and your children. Keep the Park beautiful for everyone. The location of Bowden Park is on the edges of the Hudson River. You can't see the river from everywhere but you know it's there parallel to the train path to New York City and up to Poughkeepsie

Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park along with pavilions. The pavilions are in great shape and in use. Bathrooms are provided in the main building. Also, be on the lookout for upcoming mini concerts, which are performed on the hilly field just as you enter. There are a total of six trails that are assigned a color, starting at one point and ending at a different location (with some reconnecting with the same path), except the blue trail, which does a loop, and also the Wappingers Greenway Trail, which passes through. I've enjoyed exploring, with decent views and scenery. The intersections of different paths need to be marked clearly, and instead, the sign is further in. Reading the map is key to not getting lost, which Bowdoin Park provides. There's a lot to offer for all ages, and it's a destination anyone won't regret along the Hudson River with a touch of nature.
