As a medical patient I really appreciate this location- shoutout to the workers who hold this place down when it gets busy! I usually order online in the app and pick up inside. I look for the best deals of the day and the prices seem fair- I love when they do bundles and specials so keep an eye out for that! They also have a drive-thru for pre-orders- a great option for convenience that I used to use a lot. The parking lot can get a bit cramped but I've never had a major issue. There is a large, clean bathroom inside if you need it. The service is always pleasant and informative and medical patients get points towards rewards for their purchases. *they charge a fee if you pay with a credit card, so cash is best! They do have an ATM inside but I believe there is also a fee on that. This experience was a mix of the reviews on this app and a few others. The building itself is tucked away near a big post office, but it has a busy parking lot of it's own. There are lockers out front for large bags and a plexiglass window to check in with the front desk. The rec and med sides are clearly marked, with kiosks in the respective areas. I generally don't write reviews. I am in the customer service industry myself and because to err is human I will give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the experience my partner recently had there compels me to write this review. My partner had placed an order online a little over a week ago for some products. When she had placed this order it was specifically stated that she was going to pick up the order inside. We were on our way to pick up the order, a call was made to my partner that she would need to come into the store to update her medical card information. This was not going to be an issue since she planned on getting her order inside anyway. When she got inside and came back outside a few minutes later stating that the order was mistakenly given to drive thru for pick up. She was told that while this was a mistake, the person that she spoke to said that "they were too busy to get her order and that she would have to wait in line at drive thru." We proceeded to wait in line for approximately another 30 minutes in the drive thru line. When it was our turn, we followed proper procedure and handed over the necessary identification and payment. A few minutes later this person returned and stated that our order was actually inside. Now we are visibly upset. We have been there for close to an hour for a very simple online order transaction. I never raise my voice nor do I swear. I was getting perturbed at this point and my partner was very upset. I explained what had happened and firmly stated that "it better be inside". The employee, who has to be very thin skinned, told me to not talk to her "that way". When you have an upset customer resolving the issue would have been the better road to take than that response. When we got back inside my partner asked to speak to a manager. Instead, the front desk tried to intervene. That had to see how upset she was and only made the matter worse. JUST GET SOMEONE IN CHARGE AT THIS POINT TO DIFFUSE THE SITUATION. It seemed to be a comedy of errors at this point. While she eventually received her order, this was not a good experience. They used to get my order wrong several times in a row. Operationally they're getting better, but payment systems have gone backwards. They're forcing people to use their PIN if it's a debit card. This feels like a complete disregard for the VISA logo and consumer security concerns. Neither employees (one was a manager named Krista) spoke to seemed to care to explore a workaround that absolutely must exist even after I explained the competitive dispensary "Mother Earth" had the very same issue and was able to solve it by processing my payment as a credit card differently. Surely someone wouldn't make such a poor business decision. I walked out of their feeling quite frustrated and not understood after having to ask the counter person to call someone several times before he actually did then being met with a manager who seemed to have a scripted response and was already mentally shut off or blocked to the situation. I might take a break from this place until they fix the problem. Forcing people to use their PIN seems absurd and backwards in technological advancement. Moldy products, second time I have gotten an eight that had mold on it(their in-house grown).

The quality of at least the rec offerings are terrible. I got 2 pen cartridges, both came only about 3/4 of the way full. The resin keeps splitting in the cartridge, which means I can't get an even burn and keep having to warm up the pod externally to melt the wax and get it to settle. There's also a really bad almost gasoline-like flavor. Additionally got a bag of gummies that were super overpriced and had no effect. There are better options in RI and southern Mass. It would appear Slate Center still has compassion, and I thank them for taking the time to personally reach out to me and resolve this issue. -Thursday 1/14/2021 ORIGINAL POST: Today I went to Slater's drive-through to pick up an online order I had placed; something I have been doing since the start of the Pandemic, when they offered this as a safer alternative to entering the main facility. It's a wonderful service. However today's visit came with a confrontation with a very impolite manager named, Laura. I have never felt so disrespected. I have been a patient and dedicated supporter of Slater Center going on 5 years and have never had a problem with any manager or employee. They are usually so kind, sympathetic and full of compassion. Today's confrontation revolved around a debit card billing error, on Slater's behalf, which affected many patients, just over a year ago. Sparing the details, I was told by this manager if I didn't pay up, I wouldn't be able to buy any more medication from them. I explained I had called and spoken with a manager when they first implemented the practice of inserting a past due slip in each order and was told, "I'm OK, don't worry about it." I was also told at that time if I had the extra money to pay toward this debt I would need to enter the facility (something I have avoided due to the pandemic and the fact that I'm a cancer patient) and pay in person. Today after explaining all of this to Laura, and explaining I'm disabled so I receive SSDI once a month, and that I have Medicare, explaining that deductibles are now in effect since it's a new year, and my prescriptions cost double my monthly income, her response to me was, "I don't care. That's not my problem. It's been owed for over a year. My problem is clearing the outstanding debts in my books.", which was the most incredible slap in the face. I was so upset at that point, especially since she wouldn't listen to me, and continued to disrespect me and talk over me. Then she contradicted what I had been told, and read on their past due slips, by telling me I could have paid all year at the drive through. She repeated if I didn't pay they wouldn't provide my medication. Where's the compassion? Ultimately after going back and forth, she agreed to allow me to pay $25/ month until paid off (approximately $130); but successfully managed to intimidate me and make me feel like a piece of dirt. She ended by saying, "So if you don't pay the $25 dollars next week, you won't be able to get your medicine." -unbelievable. I hope this is not the direction Slater Compassion Center is going. I pray it's is a single occasion of one poorly skilled manager's bad decision on how to interact with me, and that Slater is not losing it's Compassion. I've had edibles and canabrews from a lot of dispensaries . Almost all of them offer a nice clean , energetic high . So with edibles it comes down to how they taste . And Slater IMO has by far the best tasting edibles and drinks . Their bomb bars , chocolate bars , truffles , and brownies are delicious and all of their cannabrews are great . I bought a product that was labeled "THC:CBD 1:1". So, I assumed that it contained THC. It didn't. When I came back to get a refund they told me - "no sir, in order for it to contain THC it needs to be highlighted. I tried to explain that if something says "X:Y = 1:1", then it doesn't matter what your color scheme is. If you want to say that there is no THC, you should simply say "THC:CBD 0:1". The answer was: "No Sir, this is how our website works and we have been in business for 10 years". I never got my money back... Been here since the doors opened almost 10 years ago. Carried my medical card just to shop here. When recreational came around I let the card go and continued to come here atleast once a week. I drive by Rise and solar just to come spend my money with you. Today will be the last day I travel to slater center. For 10 years I've used the same debit card, yes that card is in my wife's name but it's never been a problem. That is unless you get that white chair force guy. Apparently he's the only one been told to not accept cards if they don't match the persons ID. Not only did he tell me he wouldn't take the card he didn't offer any solution. No hey there's an atm inside. Or hey hit the stop and shop down the road and come back with cash. Nothing, handed me back my id and debit and walked away. I guarantee that if I just drove around and went into another person's line it wouldn't have been a problem. Worse part is I'm one of the only people that tips in cash and have given this kid quite a bit of money over the last year and he doesn't even remember. I will not be coming back, my wife just said as I got home "I'll go to slater and pick it up" I said no, I'll go elsewhere.
