Happy to be the 1st one to review Dr. Jared Thompson, DMD and his team at Pacific Oak Dental. And,…read moreno... I dont give out 5 stars often. So... I was putting off my next dental visit because of some sensitivity I had been having with my teeth. After the dog ate my night guard I decided it was time. With this visit I also decided to try out a new dentist. Dr. Thompson at Pacific Oak Dental came highly recommended to me by a friend, so I decided to check it out even though it was a little bit of a drive for me. For starters, the building is very nice, updated and very clean. I was promptly greeted with a smiling staff member. I had x-rays, an exam, cleaning, and they were also able to take impressions for my night time grind guard. I was happy that they were able to fit all of that in within 2 hours. Dr. Thompson didnt just pop in and take a quick look and leave like others I have experienced in the past. He looked around and was very thorough. The personal touch goes a long way. He discussed any concerns I had, what I wanted in the future, and also what he recommended that I 'should' do. Not once did it seem as though any of them were pressuring me to buy something. Thank you! My hygenist was personable, Bri was her name. Super easy to talk to, friendly and she was a gentle flosser. (BONUS POINTS) After everything was done they took me to the consultation room where they had everything broken down for me. What was covered by my ins. What wasnt. Etc. It is always nice to know right away what it is going to cost to do the things I want to do in future visits before leaving. This gives me plenty of time to think about options, budget etc. Needless to say, I rescheduled my follow up visit for mynight guard and will also be returning for another cleaning in November. Highly recommended.

I suggest someone double check this so the correct hours are available. This morning I was scheduled for a deep clean, descaling. Not the most exciting, but if you know me I was bright eyed and bushy tailed during the whole experience. The wait was a little long. Appointment was at 9, taken in about 9:07, and hygienist (Tina) started procedure at about 9:25. The whole procedure only took about 30 minutes. This was very surprising to me. I have (not proudly) had this procedure a couple other times and both times it was almost 90 minutes. Maybe my teeth had more issues? I don't know..anyway the right of my face is totally numb but my tongue is not, so props to Tina for that. I do have to say however that the audible sighing while the work was being done was noticeable. I know my teeth need work, it kind of non-verbally expresses this. Also calling a tooth #31? Definitely necessary if passing info to a Dentist, but working in the medical field myself using work jargon with patients is usually not best practice. Anyway much quicker than expected and overall very positive experience.

Stay away from this dental office if you value your time, prefer professionalism and value honesty…read more In September, I took PTO to attend my initial cleaning and check-up, only to be informed during my X-ray scans that the dentist was out of the office. The staff acknowledged they chose not to inform me in advance, citing a concern that new patients might not rebook if they were canceled on during their first appointment. Withholding this information from a new client to retain business is both baffling and unprofessional. As someone with a busy schedule, I took PTO specifically to attend this appointment. I would have preferred rescheduling for a day the dentist was available rather than making an unnecessary visit. It's unfair to make that decision on behalf of patients, prioritizing potential revenue over transparency. Additionally, X-rays were taken despite the dentist being unavailable to review them, which is especially concerning given that insurance only covers X-rays once per year. Even so, I chose to give the office another chance, as the dental hygienist I saw was exceptional. When I scheduled a follow-up appointment, I requested explicitly to see the dentist to review my prior scans. Once again, however, I was canceled on - despite having taken additional time off to attend this appointment.Given the prior circumstances, staff should have ensured that the appointment aligned with the dentist's availability prior to confirming my appointment . I was willing to give this place a honest second chance- unfortunate that they met the same standards of practice that was exhibited during my first appointment. To be clear, I am human and understand the need to cancel appointments at time. However, the admitted dishonesty to retain customers, lack of transparency until after X-rays were received, and lack of diligence in scheduling a second appointment (for service I should have received in the first) , is why I will no longer be a patient at Hillsboro Dental Excellence.

But this is Dr. Singh's practice and he is responsible for managing the overall operations of the office. Due to the root canal failure the whole procedure had to be re-run through my insurance as a different service at a lower cost. Both their former and new manager were egregiously wrong in their explanations to me about why I shouldn't be (partially) refunded and failed to understand the most basic idea of debits/credits in accounting. It took more than 6 months to receive my refund. This was hours and hours I had to spend calling and detailing how they needed to resolve what should have been a simple accounting task. Ultimately, I get that mistakes are made and it shouldn't be the end of the world, but this office, even when they realized their error, never so much as apologized for the delay or miscommunication or for my time. They *never* responded to any of my emails, though I know they were received, and I never once heard from the doctor. I felt compelled to write this due to their utter lack of basic courtesy. I will never return here and caution anyone who goes here to understand your charges ahead of time, keep all your paperwork, and be prepared for frustrating conversations if anything goes awry.

For those who like pros and cons lists, I have several pros and one con listed below. Pros -- - Friendly People. Everybody there is incredibly friendly. They remember you and make you feel cared about. - Great Care. Cleanings have been incredibly thorough and treatment has been great. I had a cavity filled there, and it was quick and painless! - Timliness. They are prompt and get you in at your scheduled time. You don't end up waiting around in the waiting room forever. - Honesty. They communicate with you honestly about your dental health. They don't tell you that there are cavities that need to be treated when there aren't. They look at certain areas that may become problems down the road and do everything they can to prevent them from becoming problems. They don't do extensive work prematurely, which I love. Cons -- - The Music. This is one that may have changed. Usually I wouldn't mention the music that is played at a place, but I find it very distracting here. The music they were playing was terrible covers of top 40 songs. I don't mind popular music, however, the covers were pretty painful to listen to, with singers who sing flat notes and just don't sound great. It's distracting. I wouldn't mind some better music to listen to during my visits. This place is great, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, honest dentist.
