I fell on one knee the day after Christmas and it was slow to heal. I had my GP x-ray it, and to…read morebetter understand what I was in for, I got an app't with an orthopedist. This was easy, I was taken in quickly, and preregistered easily on MyChart, the corporation's proprietary website. Check-in at the clinic took about 5 minutes, I was taken to the examination room at the appointed time, and Dr. Carol Chang, a DO specializing in sports medicine, examined me thoroughly. First-rate bedside manner, listened well, and did not push chargeable procedures. She called up the x-rays on her desktop computer and explained to me what was going on. I was given exercises to do, as we were in accord about proceeding conservatively. I have no hesitation in recommending this clinic or this provider. I am given to understand that when Salem Health acquired this clinic on 9/29/23, nearly all the former staff were retained.

By the time I arrived home, my knee was sore and swollen. My PCP referred me to a sports medicine specialist for an MRI, and I learned that I'd torn my ACL tendon. My options were limited, cortisone shot, ice and care with my movements. The only other option was surgery. Fast-forward to 2020 after my relocation to Oregon. I'd done okay since, with the occasional pain and swelling. I was excited to explore the wilderness and go hiking in the PNW! I joined my kids on a trip to Silver Falls and made the challenging 7 mile hike, but paid for it afterwards and knew I couldn't continue without addressing my knee. I got another MRI locally confirming the damage and delayed seeing an Orthopedic doctor during the pandemic. Once I felt more comfortable, I went to a consultation at Hope Orthopedic and heard, once again, that my options were either to live with the pain and swelling and be careful OR to have surgery. I gave the green light and got a call to schedule with Willamette Surgery Center (a couple blocks down the street) within a couple of weeks. I'd received a call outlining everything, but no reminder about test requirements and had to delay because of a lack of a required Covid test 2 days prior. Pretty unusual, I thought, in this day and age of text reminders! Either way, I pushed it about 2 weeks out and confirmed my 18+ adult driver/health supervisor for the next few days. My friend was great to be there (Willamette Surgery Center) for me and took good care of me afterwards. I've since seen my doctor and had multiple physical therapy appointments and am on my way to recovery! The PT has been essential in the success and I've enjoyed seeing the progress. Thanks to all at Hope Orthopedics, I'm looking forward to hiking again without pain this Spring!

My husband and myself have never been in his office and felt like he didn't want to see us or had to rush out because his life is so busy. As for the quality of work he does... it is phenomenal! I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see my husband with straight legs and feeling 20 years younger. Had he not gone in and gotten those knees of his replaced when he did, he would have been in a wheelchair within the next few years. I can't even remember anymore, how bad both his legs were from his arthritis. To give a shout out to my husband, he took his part of taking care of his new knee replacements very seriously. Within 9 days of both surgeries he was back to work. I think he thinks he's Superman. He is a great testimony to the work Dr.O'Shea does...if the patient steps up and follows through by doing their part after the surgery. Then there is Lisa, his fabulous assistant. Another great person with a wonderful polite bedside manner. My husband and I are as comfortable seeing her as we are seeing Dr. O'Shea for injection's and post op procedures. What a team the two of them must make doing surgery. Sometime in the future, I too am going to need new knees. You cannot know the comfort I have in knowing at that time I will be very well taken care by a fabulous doctor and his assistant Lisa. Lori

I don't recommend this hospital to anyone. My boyfriend is going to lose the tip of his finger…read morebecause, the receptionist with the mike tyson face tattoos and absolutely no medical experience didn't feel like his condition was severe enough. We got to the ER within 20 minutes of the incident, he was holding the remainder of his finger tip in a paper towel for our 2 hour wait. We waited for an hour before he asked when he could be seen and she laughed at him when he told her his finger tip was cut off then let him know there's still 3 people ahead of him. 30 more minutes went by, at this point his face was pale, he could not stop shaking, he was sweating, his finger tip went from having color to being white, just visibly did not look well. I went and let her know all of therese things, I made mentioned we've been waiting for the past two hours and she cuts me off saying " yeah just like everyone else" She was extremely rude, showed no empathy and super unprofessional we watched multiple people get in with less severe cases get in before him. He should've been seen right away and been cared for with the condition he was in. He would still have a QUARTER if his finger if we hired people who genuinely gave a shit about people and less about her paycheck. This is absolutely disgusting behavior, negligence and makes me sick to know this is how people get treated in a hospital. Never come here, make the extra 20 minute drive to Newberg.
