I very much like Dr. Lokensgard Pearl toothpaste. I HOPE the Doctor sees this. Whomever you partner with to package it has the worst packaging. After you have used about half the tube, it is soOOO very hard to get any out. You can roll the tube to release, but it then comes out in very large quantities of waste. I eventually have to cut it open to get about 1/3 of tube out. It's too expensive not to. Then the paste dries out and I have to add water. Can you investigate better packaging? I'm only writing this review because I think it might save someone's life. Seriously. Several things to note: (1) It takes 4 weeks to receive a crown here, which means they are coming from China. CHINA. If you don't know anything about crowns that come from China, they are well known to have lead in them. But they are cheap. (2) The dental hygienist does most of the work, while the dentist sits back and watches. You need a filling? Don't expect the work to be done by the dentist. This is not illegal in the state of Tennessee. Just not common. (3) I had a filling done here and went to another dentist for a second opinion, because it was giving me pain. He showed me with a camera how it looked like a piece of chewing gum had just been put on top of it. It was the worst filling I've ever seen. (4) I also had a crown prep done here, and I went to another dentist for a second opinion, because it was also giving me pain. He showed me with an x-ray that too much of my tooth had been taken off, and in order to do a proper crown, I had to have a build-up. (5) The staff can seem somewhat bipolar (the best word that I can think of... lol). One moment, they're extremely nice and giving you hugs, and the next, they're defensive and unapologetic. I requested that the dentist do adjustments due to errors made by the dental hygienist, and a member of the staff called me to defend the dental hygienist. No apology. Just letting me know that "she's great at her job." That seemed extremely unprofessional to me. Be cautious when a business becomes defensive and can't take responsibility. (6) I had mercury fillings removed by a regular dentist and by this dentist, and I'm here to say that there is nothing special about the way they remove mercury fillings here. It's exactly the same. You'll just see an extra item on your bill for their specialized mercury removal that's +$100. Lol If you ever got dental work done here, I'd go somewhere else immediately to get it checked out. I couldn't possibly have enough good things to say about Dr. Lokensgard, Dr. Stephens and their entire team. I'm not sure why a past review on here was so low because this was the best dental experience I've ever had. In the past I've always seriously dreaded going to the dentist, but every time I leave Dr. Lokensgard's office I always have I (slightly numb) smile on my face and more importantly a happy heart. Dr Lokensgard and Dr Stephens generally want the BEST for you, not only in holistic health but in life in general. I researched for weeks looking for the best. I will admit his appearance on Truth about Cancer and Del Bigtrees show swayed my pick. My first time was ok. Although He was quick and not very informative. Took an xray and diagnosed my issues. I needed a crown and filling. I came back 2 times to complete. That went ok. Or so I hope. After reading a Yelp review I have doubts it will last. Now to the horrible experience for phase 2. I get a voicemail and hour before my appointment to cancel. Some one is sick. They ask me to wait 2 weeks. I push back and they schedule for the next day. I show up and inform them my gums had been swollen and wanted to check before drilling. He comes in looks and says " you need a sonicare". He took no xray before drilling. But I figure he knows and I trust. Amalgam removal process They numb and start to prep in under 2 mins. They tried 3 timed to get the rubber dam on. Then realized its the wrong one. Finally ready and they explained nothing!!!! Just started to drill. I feel water going under the dam and point. He stops and they suction. It happens again. I now realize due to they failed to follow safety protocol and leave the suction in my mouth. They remove the dam and he says "oh no! Dont swallow". More water had gotten in my throat. This could be mixed with the mercury amalgam that was the whole reason for the dam!! He starts to drill the next tooth and I feel it. The numbess isnt strong enough. He finishes and leaves the hygenist to fill. During which I could feel. But at this point I deal and want out. She struggles with the material. The dentist came back to check and Joyce said "it keeps getting hard quicker. Ive been having issues with that lately". Not feeling confident at all now. She finished and immediately said " that filling is big so call if you have pain". I look back and realize she spent all of 2 mins making sure my bite was ok, the filling was shaped and polished. They tell me nothing else. I leave and realize i am getting more numb. Within an hour I can barely speak. I cant feel my teeth at all. 3 hours later its wearing off. I cant even shut my mouth! The fill is so big i can't close my mouth. There is no way she didn't see that. Which now the immediate comment "to call if its painful" makes sense. I call and set to come back. Next day they file it down. I tell this next hygenist to really file it because its huge. She checks it over and over and claims it should he perfect. I leave next day call back. It still hurts. Go in the next week file it again and say wait at least 2 weeks. The nerve might need to heal. No xray to look and the dentist never came to look either trips back. Skip to 3 weeks later and still pain. Other issues with billing and appointments. They set me up for 2 weeks with my first issuea but I called to check because I recalled them saying would take 4 weeks for the crown to come in. I should have trusted my gut with the first small issues but I just chalked it up to a bad day and went back for more work. A month later and $3200 closer to broke. And new dental anxiety along with having to find a new dentist to check their work and figure a fix for this filling that still has pain if they cant figure it out. The hygenists are so nice and I actually really wanted to love the office!! Maybe it was just a bad couple days. But for my current review and feelings this is it. *Update 6 weeks later Saw another dentist and my filling was STILL too high even after the two trips in before. The dentist said there was a space where they used the wedge on the xray and most likely the actual issue. She filed it down so my bite was ok but said only option is to deal with the pain biting, redo the filling or leave it an crown it. So I will be calling Lokensgard office to ask for a refund on the filling so I can put it towards the redo of their work. I am still in shock from this experience. read more

We've always had good check ups where other places have lied to me about cavities I apparently have to increase their pay. I've been going to Dr. Lokensgard since moving to the Nashville area over two years ago, I was determined to find a biological dentist and have been very pleased with the personal attention that I get at this practice. I recently went through an extensive extraction of a root canal and repairing of cavitations that has healed me of deep infection affecting my overall health. This practice guided me to the right endodontist and then made sure they saw me immediately after the procedure to ozonate the surgical area to speed healing. Dr. Lokensgard is by far the best dentist I've been to. Over the years I've unfortunately had a lot of dental work with various dentists and the previous dentist I went to was refusing to treat what I knew was a chronic infection in the bone I had after he had pulled the tooth. The previous dentist also wanted to do an implant in the area and gave me no alternative for this. Dr. Lokensgard recognized the infection and treated it aggressively and effectively with natural treatments and it is no longer a problem. He also was able to fit me with a removable bridge instead of implants which I was very happy for. He and his staff are considerate and genuinely caring. I recommend him highly! read more

I selected Thomas Lokensgard to be my dentist because he claimed he was holistic. In my opinion holistic dentists don't recommend root canals and this was my first red flag. Also, when I told him I was concerned about various materials for my implant and bonding agents he never suggested that I get a blood compatibility test done to find out if I would have adverse reactions to those materials. I had to suggest it after I did some research. Also, there were so many instances where he wasn't prepared and I had to keep coming back several times where it should have taken fewer visits to get the job done. This was very aggravating as my drive time to get to his office was an hour and fifteen minutes. On top of that while I was his patient for three years, he switched offices 3 times, what's up with that. Thomas uses a procedure where he takes an impression of your teeth by biting into some form of clay/goop that when it hardens is a mold of your teeth. This procedure is old school where one would get a better fit with a crown by using the latest technology xray/picture method. Every time I went to his office there was always some type of problem that I dreaded going to his office. He caused me so much anxiety, loss of time, poor workmanship and choices. I had a bridge put in and it doesn't fit right and now I'm going to pay $4,100 to cut out part of the bridge and put in an implant. Is there anyone else out there that had these type of problems? We took our son to Dr. Lokensgard and were told that he needed expansion work on his mouth. Over the course of 2 years and roughly $3,300 Dr. Lokensgard provided these services. We were quite happy with the service until we learned from two independent orthodontists and a dentist that the structure of my son's mouth had been severely altered and impaired, specifically by the work that Dr. Lokensgard had performed. Upon learning this we requested a refund due to the damage and malpractice committed by Dr. Lokensgard, but were told that they would not do that since the services had already been rendered. We explained that the services performed were the cause of the additional medical treatment we now must seek, but that did not seem to phase Dr. Lokensgard. He already had our money and that was the only thing he was worried about. We are now in the process of an additional 3 years of treatment costing thousands of dollars to fix the mistakes Dr. Lokensgard made to our son's mouth. To date we have refrained from any public discussion of this "Doctor's" work and have even refrained from submitting a formal complaint to the Tennessee Board of Dentistry, but we do not want other people to go through what Dr. Lokensgard has put our son through with his treatments. We cannot, in good conscious, recommend anyone seek the advice of or treatment from Dr. Lokensgard, as his sole purpose seems to be what is best for his pocket book, not what is best for the patient. read more

Like Alex V. I cannot recommend this dentist as a true biological dentist. I am chemically sensitive which is why I choose a biological dentist. Although Dr. Lokensgard did well pulling two teeth, he did not tell me about the packing material filled with chemicals (which he should have done). I immediately reacted to it and had to insist that he take it out (he seemed irritated over my reaction). I don't believe this dentist understands the condition of multiple chemical sensitivity and he never even checked over my 65 page Serum compatibility test results before treating me. If I had known this I would not have gone to him. So I leave the clinic under a bad reaction, that the assistant and dentist knew of, and no one was concerned about me driving myself 3 1/2 hours home in rush hour traffic! This was not good patient care. :( And to top it off he planned on next visit to grind down all my top front teeth, which are good just need some fillings, and cap them! But my teeth are straight and perfect! I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The only pleasant saving grace was Joyce, a dental assistant I saw on the initial consult visit. She is thorough, professional, knowledgeable, and very funny. God bless her! read more
