This guy is so unprofessional it's unreal. I called seeking more information about the new H-1B process and ended up getting verbally abused. He asks what my highest level of education is (relevant for the H-1B visa) and I explain that I'm a law student. I ask him a few questions about the new process and he doesn't have answers for any of them, even giving me conflicting information later in the call that contradicted information he gave earlier in the call. Now, I understand that the new visa rules are confusing to many people and don't fault him for not having the answers. But instead of admitting he wasn't sure or saying he would look more into it, he tells me that since I'm a law student who's learning how to interpret laws, I should look up the laws myself. Excuse me? Even licensed attorneys seek advice from other attorneys about areas of law that are not in their field of practice. If the rules were that easy to follow, there would be little to no need for legal guidance. He then admits that he has not read the new regulations published in the Federal Register. After the call, I look up said regulations in the Register and see that they were published more than a month ago. Kind of embarrassing to claim you specialize in immigration law when you haven't kept up to date with pressing changes in the field. It gets worse. He tells me that since I have a sponsoring employer who is hiring outside counsel to help with H-1B paperwork, I am way more privileged than many of his clients, so I should contact them with my questions instead of asking him. While I intend to do this, there is a limit to how effective this will be because of basic professional ethics rules governing lawyers. Because outside counsel is hired by the sponsoring employer, they represent the employer and not me, even though they are filing a petition on behalf of me. Thus, they are working in the best interests of their client, the employer (and not me), and would not be able to give me advice that undermines the employer's interests. This is a basic rule of professional ethics that I'm surprised he didn't understand. I still feel very confused about how antagonistic the interaction was when I was just seeking help from someone purportedly more experienced in the field than myself. Far from being helpful, there were so many red flags that indicated he lacked basic professionalism, knowledge of legal ethics rules, and simple human decency. If you have basic questions about the law that require no brainpower to analyze he can probably answer them, but so can anyone who is literate. But if you're looking for more sophisticated analysis, up-to-date information on current legal developments, or just issue-spotting to identify legal grey areas, god forbid you have to seek help from him. After the call, I spoke to other attorneys who were far more capable of admitting there were legal grey areas and providing general advice, even if they didn't have the exact answers. It really makes you realize what a discrepancy there is in legal abilities even though folks all claim to be experts in the field! read more

A year ago, I was struggling with the process of converting my OPT status to a work visa status here. This person ruined my life ! Literally, he was negligent in the way he handle my case , he said it would be fine for my husband to go back to his home country for a Visa interview. Our Family packed and went to his home country Guatemala, with hopes of a new future ! When there they informed us that the waiver we did have was not sufficient enough not only that he had a permanent bar keeping him from ever going back to the USA !! He should of taken extra steps ( according to multiple attorneys I consulted after) to ensure there wasn't anything of this magnitude preventing us from getting the Visa. The negative reviews about Thomas Lee are accurate. After reading Mr. Lee's positive reviews on Yelp, I contacted him regarding the requirement(s) for Affidavit of Support. The amount I was told for qualification by Lee was "a substantial amount." Again, I asked for a numerical value in which he replied "a lot" and continued, "your only solution is to work until you reach a high enough amount and then you can apply." Yet, I was not given a number, which is what an informed lawyer SHOULD know, at the least. To no surprise, Lee attacks everyone with a review that isn't to his liking (grandiose, arrogant, fantasies of power, etc. -- classical case of narcissism), such as he has done with the other people that have posted negative reviews. He will also state "we never spoke" (lies) as he has with all the others that had nothing positive to say about his services (offended ego). Furthermore, the review citing financial requirements Lee failed to provide with accuracy, was attacked. The person cited from USCIS, a GOV'T WEBSITE, but of course Lee discredits it. I guess Thomas Lee knows USCIS laws better than USCIS. Sheer ego and ignorance Lee asserts to have a "99% success rate" (certainly a delusional fabrication of his fantasies -- narcissism) but doesn't know the income/assets criteria? Really? All Lee's positive reviews are 5 stars; no 4 star or 3 star review. That alone raises eyebrows. He must assume people are unaware of fake reviews. According to Lee's attacks, all negative reviews are "fake" but all his positive reviews are genuine? Yes, Thomas Lee and I spoke. His female secretary (with limited English) is the one that transferred the call. We spoke for ("'99%'"of the time it was him yapping away) approx. 30 min. If you are looking for sound legal advice, Mr. Lee IS NOT the lawyer you are looking for, as he is far from informed with immigration laws. He improvises the law as he talks. A lawyer claiming a "99% success rate" but doesn't know the criteria for income/assets. Hmm. For those of you looking for answers on your case, I strongly recommend reading the law and then testing the attorneys knowledge on what you have read on the USCIS website. Only then, please make an educated decision picking the attorney for your case. Many of the lawyers I have talked to were quite uninformed, but Thomas Lee appeared to be the LEAST informed about the new "Trump anti-immigration policies," as he stated. Food for Thought: NO practicing attorney with so many years of experience has a 99% success rate. Loses are inevitable in some cases, but the attorney(s) will try to make an argument in court proving otherwise or set precedence (Thomas Lee has not made any legal precedence). Also, the highest rate of success is held by Federal Courts at 93% (please Google this info for confirmation) considering the budget, manpower AND diligence that is applied to the investigations. The level of education federal agents have with the law is advanced in comparison to local law enforcement officers. Yet, Lee claims to be far more successful and educated than all his peers including federal prosecutors.
