Then they told me I had a $250 bill. I called my insurance company, United Healthcare, and was told the office never filed. Repeatedly. At the time I went back and forth with Plum Creek who said the claim was denied. Again and again United Healthcare said they never filed that claim. Plum Creek never billed physically or said anything until over a decade and a half later. As such I assumed they actually filed with the insurance and went on. Now, after thousands and thousands of dollars spent in their office I was told I had a $250 balance from 16 years ago. This is after multiple general and specialized care visits, root canals, deep cleanings, crowns, and veneers. Now they pop up and tell me there is a 16 year old $250 balance. Then they had the audacity to "discharge" me from their practice as if I would ever return after that level of ineptitude. The office staff is demeaning, crude, and apparently cannot file insurance. This was regular not Medicaid insurance. The staff talked down to me, was the rudest set of individuals I've ever seen in a purportedly professional setting. They are crude, insensitive, and overall unable to do their basest duties. This is again after my family has spent thousands of dollars in their office I'm hit with attitude and contempt. To top it all off I'm told I'm no longer welcome at their practice as if I'd think about returning after that fiasco. Sixteen years later. One is left to wonder where this supposed debt was all these years. I still live at the same address, have brought my family there for years and suddenly whammo! Please be warned the office staff is incompetent, ruder than life, and plain ignorant to come at someone 16 years later over a bill they could not manage to file with an actual insurance company. Keep your family, your wallet, and your credit safe and avoid these ignorant people like the plague. I'm not stopping with Yelp. I will make sure everyone in Lockhart and online knows the level of ignorance, crudeness, and hostility that office has to offer. In addition, I'll be contacting an attorney as they have been holding onto a "debt" for 16 years.

I mentioned hospitalization for pulmonary embolisms over a month ago and she required clearance from the MD before she could clean my teeth. While in the waiting room a kid who looked about 10 years old was sitting with mom and the tech called him , introduced himself and brought the boy back alone. I think it's general practice for kids to go in without mother. Great idea to help kids learn to take care of themselves and talk without moms speaking for them. The dental cost are comparable to any other dentist. The lobby is comfortable and front desks staff have always been friendly. The office is in a strip mall by HEB on FM 306. Although there is not a direct handicap access you can drive up a bit along side the curb drop off your passenger and they can use the sidewalk area that is graded to be even with the street making it accessible for those who need handicap access including motorized wheelchairs .

The hygienists are nice, but the overall practice seems corrupt and not concerned about the best interests of patients. First, they tell you need (unnecessary) additional treatments that are not covered by insurance (if they were necessary, they would be covered). In five decades of dental care, I have never had "necessary" treatment suggested that was not covered by insurance. Second, while your insurance coverage includes an exam by an actual dentist, you'll probably never get that exam unless they think they can convince you that you need some expensive treatment (likely not covered by insurance). I went 3-5 times and never met an actual dentist much less had an exam by one. Again, in over five decades I never had a hygiene appointment where the dentist did not stop in and do an exam. Third, they have no issue physically harming you while telling you the action is required. In my case, their X-Ray process resulted in severe bruising to the roof of my mouth as well as an over-extended jaw injury that prevented me from being able to eat solid food for a full week (I have a small mouth including a low roof). I complained bitterly about this awful experience but, they (office staff, who said she was talking to medical staff), insisted they couldn't keep seeing me unless I underwent that same X-Ray experience again. This office staff person literally lied to me on the phone, saying children use the adult sized X-Ray plates with no problem, while the hygienist previously told me they use a non-invasive external imaging for kids, and they could do that with me as well. All of my previous dental offices had not issue accommodating my needs. So much so I didn't even realize it was a big issue until I came to Comal Dental. I'm never going back to this awful and negligent practice.

They were smart to staff the sweetest and genuinely the kindest people to assist you and serve you from the moment you walk in to when you're in the chair to the moment you walk out. It makes a HUGE difference when getting potentially the most uncomfortable and unnerving things done to the inside of your mouth. It was another divine setup. The atmosphere is just fused with positive energy and warmth. You really feel valued and cared about. You're definitely in good hands with Judy. When I had a dental emergency, Dr. Franke got back to me right away and squeezed me in the next business morning. They worked with me when I thought I didn't have dental insurance. He could have charged me more but waived one of the charges. That helped so much for this unplanned expense. Dr. Franke did an excellent job saving my smile. I was really concerned. I don't want to go into the details but I trust his work and abilities as well as the knowledge and expertise of him and his beautiful assistant. Lastly, he's not a lazy dentist. He will do the work that's best for you and not just to move on to the next patient. (They didn't ask me to write this.
