I love the events such as wine tasting - I think it was over 60 wines; the in-depth Pilates events, they recently updated the gym equipment, the coaches are great with fabulous playlist and there are a lot of community focused events. It's a really big tennis facility so if you're in to racket sports, this is the place for you. I still have my LT membership and that being said the locker rooms need an update. Integrating to a system that allows me to schedule tennis, massages etc as well as scan into the club would make things more convenient. I don't have traditional car keys so having to carry a single tiny card with me can be a bit frustrating. They are contract based - 1 year minimum but there is definitely value if you live or work in the area.

A best kept secret for tennis players, these public courts are in fantastic condition, have a great…read morecity view, are located in a safe location with close parking (you can see your car from the courts), and are rarely busy. Well...they WERE rarely busy. I think the secret got out and now there are folks on these courts pretty frequently. Negatives of these courts: NO LIGHTS! Also, the gates are opened/closed by security, so if you're the first one there you'll have to call a number for them to open the gates, and if you're the last one there, security might boot you out before you're done. Finally, these courts are much more accessible via vehicle than walking; the courts are only accessible from the south side. Also, no restrooms nearby, which is typically a requirement for most official matches. If you are drive, you'll want to enter these courts from Fowler Street (across from the Fire Station). There is an inconspicuous driveway that will take you right to the courts. They now have a small sign that will direct you to these courts from this entrance; again, you'll need security to unlock these gates. Common courtesy for public courts is to limit your time to two hours maximum. There are one or two groups that come here with 7-8 people and just alternate, and stay here for HOURS. It's only a real problem when they are occupying two, even three courts while others are waiting. Personally, I have no problem asking people when they plan to finish up or who was there before they were- keep 'em honest! If you want to be sure you'll get to play (for example, a match) you CAN reserve these courts at atlantaga.gov/iparcs. It doesn't appear anyone really reserves these courts. I went through the reservation process and it appears they are following City of Atlanta rates for courts. So far I haven't encountered anyone who has a reservation kicking someone else off, but since these courts are growing in popularity, I can see it happening soon. Sadly, until they get lights on these courts- which may be never- as well as nearby restrooms, this location isn't a great option for league matches. I've enjoyed playing on these courts, but I think everyone else who plays here feels a little entitled to the secret of the courts and people seem to be annoyed when others show up. But- as long as it's sunny and there's an open court, these are in way better condition than other free, in-town options (Ansley Park, Frankie Allen, Peachtree Hills, Central Park).

I love the fact that there are always happy healthy people jogging around with their loved ones, friends, or pups. It is just a really good energy to encounter and intriguing that, in the middle of Buckhead, this beautiful park is tucked away and you would never know how close you are to the traffic and fumes. The "Tennis Center" itself is sort of old and funny-looking (you'll be like, "Is this where I am supposed to go to meet my opponent?!?"), but they are in the works to build a 4000 square foot semi-underground building. The positioning of it will help to conserve energy for them. Also, if you are in the market for lessons, they have pro's there that you could book through the pro shop. Because their pro shop is (currently) really tiny, they don't have a store to purchase items (I would put money on it that they will have a store that is jam-packed with your tennis apparel after their construction of the new facility is complete). One last cool story- Last time I was playing there, I saw Andre 3000 of Outkast walking by my court (evidently, per him, he lives close to there and (I am guessing) he is health concious too?). So, I ran off the court and got his autograph on a tennis ball!!! You would never believe it, but (per him) it was his first tennis ball ever signed! Haha! I was ecstatic and offered for him to come play tennis as I have extra racquets, though he politely declined. Happy tennis playing! Have a blast and good luck!

A tennis pro was very loud and abusive on another court…read more Saturday around 9am the landscaping crew decided to mow the lawn, edge the grass, etc... unfortunately, about 45 mins of very loud and dusty air on probably the busiest time of the week. When suggested a better time, let's say during the week less busy court time, the so called pro, same one mentioned above, was very abrupt and rude. Do not recommend PAYING for a public court with such rudeness and threatening staff.

It wasn't awkward at all ... being that I never played tennis. Coach Joe is AWESOME. He's funny, full of energy, and treats each one of us like we can be a tennis star even in our later years. I found the Summer Class for the little kids (5 years old) to be reasonable and luckily in my time schedule. Monday's at 4 and Saturday mornings. The coach is so good and he really encourages my daughter. She's 5 so I don't know if she'll be good or not ... but it's definitely great to get outdoors and introduce her and I to something new. They also have a lot of free and for profit events. Join the email group. If things remain the same I'll forever be a patron whether active or passive.

The max capacity for the class is 8 people, so you have to make your reservation early - this is easy enough to do on their website. They also offer round robin tournaments and other organized pickleball activities. My only gripe is that it's not easy to reserve a pickleball court if you just feel like playing on your own. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, we feel like going out for some impromptu pickleball and don't feel like competing. Still looking for places in DeKalb where we can easily reserve a court and do our own thing. I believe you can call to check availability and reserve, though.

However when she requested to see the end of year books as its a member funded club she was denied them and attacked and bullied. Pathetic behavior. This used to be a lovely quiet pool enjoyed by everyone. It definitely had problems everyone would agree, broken glass, kids running, all rules posted on the wall but none followed. Drinking beer and eating in the pool on large floats. Loud music. Its very sad that people behave this way, or that parents allow their children to behave this way. Judging by the remarks of the manager or chairperson its really a low bar he has set for himself so probably not so surprising. I have happily attended many events here over the years and used the pool for 15 years but decided to change memberships as a result of this type of treatment of members. I'm waiting for the review when he calls me a liar :) He doesn't like facts.

Blackburn Tennis Center is one of the few very popular ITP tennis centers. They have recently been…read moretaken over by the UTA Tennis Management Group, which has included a ton of renovations, including court surfaces, nets, scoreboards, etc. I like playing here- the courts are nice. But spectating can be annoying. The picnic tables are shoved up right next to the courts which is distracting for players. Also, there's just not enough space to spread out. BUT there's not enough space to sit either, so bring camping chairs and be prepared to squeeze! On normal nights, they keep the main gate closed, so you have to walk up a flight of stairs and then down a narrow ramp (colliding with other players who are leaving). Not sure why they do this, especially for popular team practice nights. On match days, GET THERE EARLY especially if you have something heavy to carry. The parking area seems ridiculously small on match days, and you could end up parking nearly half a mile away. If it were easier to access from the highway, I think I'd like these courts more. Lastly- the staff, pros, and players are all friendly. That's a major plus!
