Thompson and Brown just sold my house for me and I couldn't be happier with them. I picked them because their name seems to be on every "For Sale" sign in my area (Antelope), and because they've been selling here for so long. In fact, it turned out that my realtor George Brown had represented the sellers when I bought my house 20 years ago! So this would be the second time he's sold this house. I figured he would have a good idea of what my house would sell for and how long it would take, but I was surprised at how closely he nailed both; apparently he really knows this market. He came to the house and told me exactly what was needed to get the place sold and also make sure the buyer was getting a good house. I did some repairs and upgrades he suggested (mostly small things like paint touch-ups and minor repairs), he put up the sign and flyers and had a couple of open houses, and we had offers almost immediately. When it was time for closing and paperwork, Brianna helped us through the whole thing and made it easy. Selling this house was a lot easier than I assumed it would be, and during the process I felt like they were really working hard for me. George was almost always available to talk to me on the phone when I had a question, and if not, I never had to wait more than an hour or two for a callback. I'm officially a second time home owner thanks to Thompson & Brown! In 2011, I was ready to buy my first home so I called the T&B office and was connected with one of their agents, Steve Georgis. Steve was informative, experienced and professional. He never pushed a property that wasn't a good fit. He would send an email with the newest listings, I'd review and decide on ones I wanted to see so we didn't waste any time. Whenever I had questions about a particular neighborhood or something about a house, Steve always gave me honest info and never steered me towards a particular decision. When we found the house I wanted, Steve helped me make a great offer that was quickly accepted. I had a very pleasant first time experience and know it was because Steve helped make all aspects of the process straightforward. I had such a good experience that I referred Steve to several friends who also ended up working with him as well. Fast forward to 2018 and I was ready to sell my home. I didn't hesitate for a moment and called Steve. Once again, he didn't let me down. He gave me great feedback on what I should do to prepare for sale, took care of the listing/advertising, and assisted me with evaluating the many offers I received. Again, throughout the process he aided in coordinating the closing of the transaction with all the different parties involved and I'm happy to say things went smoothly and I successfully sold my first home! How they are still in business when other "small guys" have moved fwd with the times is beyond me. Not to mention George(Brown) himself is a joke as well, the man is impossible to contact or negotiate thru, always MIA when needed plus takes forever to get back & still seems to be living in the 90's. I have never written a YELP review before, but I feel so strongly about the disservice I received from Thompson and Brown (T&B) that I am writing this review. If zero stars was a possibility, that would have been my rating. For your sanity and peace of mind, in my opinion, DO NOT use Thompson & Brown for your real estate needs. I decided to use T&B because of their local Antelope exposure to sell my deceased mothers home. Scott Thompson met with me and discussed the Antelope market, house size and comparable sales; he recommended a selling price of no more than $260,000. He said "There had been no comps sold for this 'high' price." I decided to push the value a little and had the home listed at $265,000. Within a few days the first offer came in above asking price. The problem with this offer, which T&B suggested I accept, was the buyer was from out of town and made the offer contingent on inspection. The inspection time frame came and went; T&B did not follow up with the proposed buyer or follow the dates/terms in the sales agreement. The transaction basically lost 5 days while waiting for the buyer to inspect the property. When the buyer finally inspected the property it took another 2 days for their reply. Due to misinformation on their agent's part, the school districts were misidentified, so the buyer backed out; so now T &B has lost buyer 1. The house was put back on the market and awaited the next offer. Good news, there were 5 offers within the next 3 days. This should have been an indication to T&B that the asking price was too low. An offer from a buyer with a large cash down payment and minimal loan amount was chosen upon review and recommendation of T&B. Next in the long list of tasks came the home and pest inspections. With the house being 25 years old, signs of dry rot and a few other minor repairs were discovered. Estimates for repairs were compiled. The total cost of repairs was just under 1% of the sales price. Next issue with T&B, again they did not follow the signed sales agreement dates. The buyer then made ridicules repair requests. T&B did not try to negotiate on my behalf to clear the necessary repairs. Buyer 2 wanted out of the transaction and used these inspections/repairs to cancel the contract, even after I agreed to fully fix all noted repairs at my expense. So another buyer lost and back on the market for a third time. The third buyer put in an offer $10,000 over asking. Inspections and repairs were not an issue this time, now we come to the appraisal. There was a slight mention from T&B agent, Trena that the appraisal might come in lower than the offer price. There was limited inventory of houses in the area, and prices were climbing quite rapidly. I was assured that T&B would work with the appraiser to get the value. Exact words from T&B agent after meeting with the appraiser, "I met with the appraiser this morning and I don't think it could have gone better. She was willing to accept the comparable sales I gave her and she asked me to help her out with her aunt's home in Antelope". This comment looks more like the agent at T & B is more excited about securing another listing. The T&B agent did cover herself with this comment: "I can't say for sure that we will get our value but I feel very good about it." Once the appraisal was received at $10,000 below offer price, T&B gave me little recourse or help in the next steps. Only assistance was a comment made by T&B that if they were the buyer's agent (again they are supposed to be representing me the seller) they would demand the price be lowered". For this 3rd buyer and the other proposed buyers, during each transaction I felt T&B was helping/representing the buyer, not me the seller. Should not T&B being working diligently for me as I am the one paying the commission? The inaction by T & B now has cost me between $5,000 and $10,000. This was confirmed by me reviewing comparable houses with the same square footage and found closed sales for between $270,000 and $275,000. Delays and half-truth misinformation is what you will get if you use T & B. I also have to mention that they "lost" my originally signed listing agreement; this meant that at one point I did not even have a contract with T&B, I should have known to seek another real estate agent, but my fault for not. After having accepted the fate of this transaction, T&B had one final insult; I happened to review their website and found more inaccurate information, after the transaction closed, they had stated the list and sold price of the house at $275,000, not the correct amount. read more

We set up a meeting at the property I was getting ready to sell. He told me the price range that he thought we could sell it for. First of all it took me over a week and a half to get into touch with Mr. George Brown. I left several messages with two different people who answered the phones. I assume he works out of his home because the two that kept answering said that they were in the house and had to go to the back to "see if he was there". Not that working out of a home is bad, I was just thinking maybe a separate business line would be better. Anyhow every-time I called he had conveniently "just went into a meeting" and not once returned my call. It wasn't until the end of the 2nd week on a Friday that I called 3 times that he was finally out of that week long meeting that took place. Before I even asked one question he was already sounding like I just made his day awful by him taking my call. I was simply calling to ask a few questions and he was beyond rude, his tone was like I was annoying him, or he was mad at the world, he was not helpful at all or pleasant to talk to in the least. He made me feel like I was doing something wrong by calling him and I hadn't even ask a question yet. Obviously I'm not fond of this realtor and I am disappointed in how I was treated, disrespected and his complete disregard to help. read more

A friend had recommended this company. This was my first time buying a house. Im still having a hard time believing what a nightmarish experience this was! Steve and Bree have a lot to learn about customer service. I'm just a regular person, Steve and Bree are supposed to be the professionals. Instead they wanna play the blame game and cover their own butts rather than taking responsibility for their actions. I have been lied to, been called a liar, misinformed, treated like dirt. I have had to pay money's out of my pocket because of the lack of concern and care these people show to their customers! I spoke with George today on the phone., I told George there was a lot of confusion and I just wanted to figure the situation out. He was very short very cold. I got the feeling he's backing his employees without having ever heard what I was put through. I am very disappointed with you and your staff. I wasn't looking to get anything. All I wanted was for you to listen and maybe see that the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. Your staff need training in customer service and a basic understanding of the word respect.
