We were traveling from North Carolina to Ohio and our camper trailer tire experienced a valve stem failure and needed to be replaced as we still had a long day of travelling ahead of us. The earliest online appointment was for 10:00 but I showed up at their store shortly after opening at 8:00 and Manager Sherry Hall took care of the replacement and had me back on the road within 20 minutes! Not only did she get the tire fixed quickly, but she did not charge me anything! We were so grateful to be able to get back on the road so quickly. Folks, this is what customer service looks like! If I could leave less than 1 star I would! Took my truck in for an alignment only for them to get some sort of chemical on the rear bedside of my truck that ate the clear coat off. Took it to the body shop it's going to be $1000+ for repairs! Showed it to the manager and they insinuated that I was lying even though I have before pictures of when the truck went into their possession. Their list of reasons on how it could have happened: "Parking under a tree with sap." "It could've been parked outside and someone walked by and done it." "Someone must've stood in the bed and spilled something on it" "I know for 100% fact that it did not happen here." (My personal favorite) "You're just wanting it to have happened here so that you don't have to pay for it" Side note: I've had this truck less than a week IF YOU WANT YOUR VEHICLE TORE UP TAKE IT TO THOMPSON TIRE OF WYTHEVILLE YOUR '22 & '23 SERVICE CENTER AWARD WINNERS Also this happened to me after giving them a second chance when they done some damage to a wheel of mine on my last truck "trying" to do an alignment. I went in for a rotation and said I had a slow leak. It was a nail in the side wall and before asking if I wanted a new tire the boy pulled it out. It had been this way for two months. The lady up front said he shouldn't pulled it out. They said they didn't have my tire in stock but would give me a better tire for the same cost. It wasn't a savings. I can buy my same tire for $160 and they charged $240. They never apologized and I had to follow the boy to the parking lot to inspect the truck after and he left the hub cap off. If they would had told me what it was before I would had took it back to my normal place and replaced it with a matching tire. Poor poor customer service. No apology and was irritated with customers asking questions on the phone. Beware and stay away from this place. read more

I'll start by saying the lady up front was super nice. Called and made an appointment, still waited over an hour. Charged $40 just to plug a tire, which is absolutely ridiculous, considering most places are $15-20. Left and the tire was still leaking AROUND the plug they put in. read more

I was traveling from White Lake, North Carolina back home to Kentucky when my tire blew out. I took my car to Thompson Tire and let me tell you, the workers here were so nice and friendly. $410 for a oil change and fuel filt,er change on a diesel truck. oil change was reasonable at $130. but they charged $95 to spin a fuel filter off and on. and it took 2.5 hours with the truck on the lift 10 minutes after arriving. most bays were empty and people standing around. read more

Be careful!!! I took my car for a front end alignment. The mechanic came and asked me if I'd been in an accident because there was damage in the front end, which prevented the alignment, and would cost over $1,500 to repair. This came as a huge surprise since I'd had the car for a few years and had not had an accident. I told them I'd think about it. The next day, I took it to another mechanic for the alignment and didn't mention anything about what Thompson Tire told me. When the mechanic finished I asked if they'd had trouble aligning the car. He gave me an odd look so I explained everything. They were nice enough to put my car on the lift and show me everything so I KNEW there was no damage. I had the car for a year after this and nothing ever went wrong with the front end. I cannot recommend Thompson Tire because it would have cost me a fortune for nothing! read more

My saving grace!! My run-flat blew out on a trip from California in the midst of tropical storm Alberto. As I was driving I called Thompson Tire and spoke to Michelle. I gave her the tire size, which is an odd size and always has to be special ordered. No warehouse within 150 miles had one in stock! Michelle took my number and said she would see what she could do. 5 minutes later as I was driving up RT 81 with my hazards on through the storm at 20 MPH she called that they had a tire that someone ordered that never picked up! It wasn't the exact size but they could make it work! I had to start a new job the next morning and NEEDED to get to Norfolk. I pulled up and Michelle and Anthony stayed late and fixed my car. THEN she discounted the tire and labor WAY more than I could have even asked!!! Michelle and Anthony were my guardian angels that day! GREAT people! GREAT business!! I was on my way to Florida from Pittsburgh when a line from my transmission to the cooler ruptured. This was the only place I could find open early on a Saturday morning. I was worried I was going to get treated like the Griswalds in National Lampoons Vacation, but the folks at Thompson were great. They were very friendly and were able to fit me in in less than an hour. When I got the bill it was very fair, 75 bucks with parts and labor. Thompson used to be a place I trusted like family, but ever since Roger left and they hired Michelle to run the front, this has become a place I wouldn't send my dog. I have never in my life been treated so rudely. In June, we purchased an entire new set of tires ($750). I actually had to call the owner of the company because Michelle quoted me a wrong price. He assured me that she was new, and that it was an honest mistake. Fine. Today, I came in to get my spare replaced because one of the brand new tires was flat. MICHELLE, who never saw the tire, told me "That tire isn't repairable. The side wall is flat from an impact" (False by the way) Then, the technician comes out and told her that the side wall had actually blown out. I asked if they would be replacing the tire since it was brand new and blew out on its own. She says, "No. You must have hit something an drove on it flat." So basically, she is refusing to listen to the TECHNICIAN who saw the tire, and ME who told her I didn't drive the car AT ALL, just so she doesn't have to stand by the product and order me a new tire. I really hope that the cost of one tire is worth a lifetime of business from my family and friends. Bravo MICHELLE. read more

We were headed to Tennessee from Vermont when our car was making a very loud noise like a helicopter overhead. We figured it probably was either a tire problem or a wheel bearing. We stopped at Thompson Tire based on other Yelp reviews and we are extremely happy that we did. They diagnosed the problem, replaced the wheel bearing assembly, and had us back on the road in a little over an hour at a reasonable cost. Everyone was extremely nice. A great experience overall and we would definitely stop there again if we had car problems while in the area. We highly recommend them. read more
