Best service I've ever had. One of my friends recommended the car doctors. I needed a part changed in my car. They were ready to have me come in on the same day when I called, but I was unavailable. They prioritized me as a waiting customer and had the part changed in 30 minutes! They even have refreshments in the waiting room and vehicle repair text updates. Other mechanics just had me wait in a chair for 3 hours just to tell me they can't get it done. The cost for the service was great and desk & service personnel were professional and polite, which in my experience is something that shops tend to lack. The only thing I recommend is to add a sign in the parking lot that points toward the office as the several doors outside get confusing for new customers like myself. Keep the great attitude and service up. I will be a regular customer from now on. read more

I was charged $95 for a diagnostic on a headlight. I was told it was the bulb *and* the ballast. Quote was $500-$600. I declined the work because I had been looking at the halogen bulb and not the Xenon bulb (my fault) and wanted to check the ballast (which I assumed they did). They did not. It took me less than 15 minutes to remove both headlight assemblies and swap the Xenon bulb from the driver's side to the passenger's side. It worked fine. So, it wasn't the ballast, as claimed. I ordered an OE replacement bulb (less than $100) -- it took 5 minutes to repair. Done. NOTE: I also waited a few months before writing a review to make sure. It's still working great. I also noticed that they had tried to pry the headlight assembly out, scratching around the fixture. Fortunately, the light assembly itself wasn't damaged (that would be another $700-$800). But, now I have to touch up that issue with some touch-up paint. So, either the technician didn't actually remove the bulb -- I had dropped a screw in the assembly and placed an odd one in its place... It's possible they put all the screws back *exactly* in the same position, but I'm skeptical -- or they intentionally tried to up-sale me on a repair I didn't need. Either way, it's disappointing. Regardless, they definitely didn't test the ballast. I have had generally nothing but great things to say about Car Doctors, have recommended many people, and been taking my vehicles there for over 10 yrs. I'll likely be using another mechanic for anything I can't tackle myself in the future. That's $95 I could have saved by doing it myself in less than 15 minutes. Twice, they were able to diagnose a problem that other repair shops were unable to figure out. On one occasion the other shop thought it was something that would've cost me $950. I took it to Car Doctors and they found it was a different problem and it only cost me $200 to fix the correct problem. I had unfortunately run over a deer in Montana while towing my car. The car seemed to be damaged underneath and I was concerned about losing some fluids. Toby got me right in and checked all fluids and the under carriage. It was my lucky day, other than a mess under my car all fluids were fine and car is running great. Its been a month and a half and all these folks had to do was change my time chain on an Audi Q5, every day they tell me it's done and I call, it's other problem, it's another part ordered, and it's a longer wait period. I didnt expect to shark out 4K on a car fix but it seems as if I have no choice. I've been holding a car at a dealer ship for 2 weeks now Bc they told me I'd be don, it's still not done till this review, and I'm getting quite livid and inpaintent. read more

MY OPINION & EXPERIENCE I am a woman that was stranded in Virginia while driving through the State. I was told I needed a new engine (questionable by the Ford dealership - currently being investigated), and was lied to by the owner of the Car Doctors as to the cost of installing this new engine. I was quoted $1400 but was presented a bill of over $2100. In addition, he replaced unrelated parts without my authorization. BUT THE REAL OUTRAGE IS THAT THE ENGINE FAILED WITH 24 HOURS. After giving up and bringing it to a Ford dealership, I am told The Car Doctors broke part of the engine while installing it and tried to cover it up by "fixing" it. THE CAR DOCTOR IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER. THEY ARE BLAMING ADVANCE AUTO FOR THE ENGINE AND ADVANCE AUTO IS BLAMING CAR DOCTOR. In the interim, I am still without my car (almost a month) and out almost $5000, not including rental car fees, hotel costs and the costs of removing and replacing this garbage engine. Do the math we are talking almost $10,000. I would consider this place to be nothing but vultures preying on stranded women. CONSIDER YOURSELF CRAZY IF YOU TRUST THIS PLACE! read more

After an emergency tow to this business, a 2006 Honda was diagnosed as needing a clutch kit. Including the labor, the cost was estimated at $1075.64. The parts were listed as $519.04 while the phantom shop fees were $30.48. A check on Amazon displayed an upgraded clutch kit costing $269.00. When asked if we could provide our own parts, the business threatened to raise the labor charges. The business claimed to have ordered the parts within the hour after initial communication with them but the parts would take two days to arrive. This is suspicious since most parts stores can deliver parts within twenty-four hours. Two days seems more like an Amazon or eBay shipment. A friendly thief is still a thief. Being polite alone does not equate to good service. read more

They must have thought I was a dumb college student, who didn't know anything about cars because they had some bold-faced lies. Got a state inspection done and failed me for a broken signal light (which as of checking right now all lights and signals are working fine), Bad brake pads and rotors (rotors have normal wear and brake pads are almost brand new), A broken exhaust mount (This one is fair and correct), and last a "damp power steering line" (It was raining all day, but not sure if this is correct). 2/4 were for sure lies, 1/4 maybe a lie and the last 1/4 was for sure correct. Avoid this place unless you want to get taken advantage of. read more

So happy I was able to have them work on my brakes while I was in Radford for a couple days. I live in Northern, Va but was in town visiting a friend. The place I took my car to before gave me an outrageous price quote that I knew I couldn't trust. Luckily the car doctors did the same fix for a much, much more reasonable price. I will gladly bring my car back here if I'm ever in town again! So happy I was able to support a honest, small business. read more

I hit a huge pothole at a Shell gas station in Dublin and it dented my rim and tore my tire. I was driving to Tennessee from DC and I was still three hours away from home. Someone at the gas station helped me get my spare tire on, but I couldn't drive on it for three hours. For some reason, my tire size is difficult to find and usually has to be ordered. I was planning to drive home with the spare, but I wanted to get my other tires checked out. I called the car doctors and they said they would take a look. When they found out I had three hours left on my drive, they called a bunch of people in an effort to find a tire for me. They managed to find a used one, and put it on as well as straightening out my rim. I was scared I wouldn't be able to get home, but they helped me out tremendously and I made it back safely. They don't even carry tires, but they went and picked up the one they found for me. I'm extremely grateful for them. read more
