Do they taste better because I picked them myself? I don't know! Yes? Regardless, they are delicious. The staff here is always so friendly and they are so welcoming to large groups. This is a great place to run the kids around and there are plenty of activities you can do for free or a small cost, like animal feeding, rides etc. My son loves all the playgrounds! It has changed a lot since then but still has most of its 20th century charm. I remember spotting TV actors very often when we'd be there in the 1960s. I looked in just about every store. There's lots of fresh (and exotic) produce. There's a French store, meat market, empanada store, souvenir store and even an old fashioned camera (with film) store. My favorites, as always, are the baked goods and candy. And I saw a $200 jar of honey! Literally something for everyone. There's a noodle place I'm gonna try next time for sure. I started out at DuPars for a short stack of their famous pancakes and life will never be the same! In LA, parking is hard to find and expensive! But here the first 90 minutes are free if you get validated. I love this market. And I cannot wait to return. When you're in Los Angeles, you should stop in.

Although some restaurants will validate part of the parking fees, be prepared to pay somewhere between $10 and $56 depending on how long you stay and which stores you visit. Make sure you check the parking rates sign by the entrance and plan accordingly. You can also park in the Grove's multi-story parking structure, but they will not accept validation from Farmer's Market businesses. The Grove also has Valet parking on premises. Venue 4 stars: Nice rustic but well-kept open air set up that has been around for almost 100 years! It is focused on local and international food. As you stroll through the market you will encounter gourmet food stores (such as Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Store), meat counters (such as Huntington Meats), takeout restaurants (such as Stara Polish Pierogi and Sausage, Banana Leaf Singaporean restaurant and Oh My Dumpling Chinese food), and fine dining restaurants (such as ETTORE OSTERIA Italian and Monsieur Marcel French Bistro). They do occasionally have sales outside Ventura County, but they mostly assemble in the Thousand Oaks area. In the spring and fall, they tend to gravitate back to The Oaks Mall. My observation is that they do best when located at the East parking lot where the Thursday Farmers Market is held. On a (finally!) sunny Saturday, the market gathered dozens of vendors with vintage furniture, architectural salvage, all manner of accessories, plus a few dealers with jewelry and clothing. Cute signs, useful implements, paintings, and a general vibe of charm of bygone days pack the space. This summer, they will have two more market days on July 1st and August 5th. If you enjoy the vintage decorating vibe, put one of those dates of your calendar!

He then came back a second time to harass me and told me "I could only look from the sidewalk" and changed his story. Meanwhile other men around me had already started buying produce. When I mentioned that he was giving conflicting and unclear directions and asked why he kept singling me out when I wasn't buying anything and other people around me were he shrugged his shoulders and he looked angry and followed me around. I asked him to stop following me and asked him if this was what someone was actually paying him to do? He didn't ask the men around me buying produce and food anything, but bothered me, a woman alone. Very aggressive. This is a wannabe Hollywood farmers market, I will not come back. I don't appreciate being treated so aggressively, and for what?!? A huge line formed by 9:00 with impatient people. When they let all these people in at once it becomes pretty chaotic and crowded, long lines form up almost instantly. If they let shoppers trickle in, like every other farmers market does, you could fire the creepy officer/line monitor bothering me and skip long lines as people who come early can trickle in and leave.

The market had many more booths than I was expecting after reading the write up. They had a mix of food items for sale from fruits and veggies to desserts, to fish to drinks but they also had jewelry, clothes, toys, cremes and balms and other assorted items. Their fruits and veggies were impressive. It was so vibrant, colorful, fragrant. Enjoy my photos of the berries to see what I mean. I did buy a bakery item from the booth that had a lot of items, but no one in line, no wait versus the other booth that had a good amount of items but about 15 people in line. I should have known. My coffee cake item had saran wrap but it had a hole in it, and it was very stale. I am assuming that the hole led to it being stale and not that it was an old item not freshly made that day. It was very disappointing. If you are in the area, stop in and check it out.

There are rows of spots in their harbor parking lot but also some street parking. It's free entrance and you are welcome to come in and out of the market. This is why I appreciate Ventura County, no fees! This farmers market is a pretty good size with so many vendors ranging from produce, home goods, frozen foods, clothing and ready made and to go food stalls. This market really has everything and is highlighting some of the best local small businesses in the 805. Saw many familiar faces but also some new booths that I was able to support. Bought fruit and pastries for days (dangerous) because everything looked so good. Prices seemed reasonable enough to be. You are buying straight from the vendor so you cut out the middle men. I love the cooked ready to eat food options at this market. My local one only has a tamale guy but here they had that and another 10 vendors of ready to grab bites. I definitely snuck away with some pupusas and a refreshing strawberry lemonade. Now one of my favorite farmers markets - you'll catch me here much more often. Happy Sunday yall.
