This place is really grown on me over the years. In rereading my original view i'm laughing because I don't recall the soup moving within the last few years. I now know definitively where to find it. They've also added the most incredible soft serve ice cream to their offerings. I also spotted that they now serve prosciutto which I was unaware of in the past and they have what appeared to be some delicious looking Caesar salads premade for about $15. I'm currently completely addicted to this amazing peanut nougat chocolate that they have. It's $5.50 a pop so as my original review states this place is Not exactly the $.99 cent only store but it's amazing selection of goods shows the purveyors attention to selection. They're keen on what they bring into the store and it shows. I've had a few bottles of wine from here. They were all yummy. I've yet to try any of their cheese, but it looks fantastic. As I go, I spend more and more time cruising what they have- they always have fine looking produce and I know occasionally they carry chanterelles. I do hope to scoop up some of those on a future visit (in season only of course). It does seem they really honor the seasonal pallet of things and from what I can tell most of their produce is local. They've also added a really lovely outdoor patio. All in all I'm very grateful this place in the canyon. They've saved me on a number of occasions when no dinner recipes came quickly to mind or when a soup hankering struck! read more

The bread they get from Gjusta is expensive but so so good. Try the Olive or the Fruit and nut - I must warn you: it's addictive (and as Germans, we sure know serious bread). It is so good it made us drive to Gjusta in Venice to explore more - and we were so so disappointed - we had the worst breakfast I ever had in my 59 years. I would easily cycle 67 miles just to savor the Gjusta bakery croissants that Canyon Gourmet serves. The very best fresh daily croissant and danish you can find in the whole area by far. My favorite is the ham & cheese but the baklava is also amazing. I'll keep coming back! read more

This place has raw farm raw milk and cream, they also have delicious cheeses, even some raw. They go to the farmers market for select fruit and veggies and have really good fresh bread as well. Great wines and frozen specialty meats. Upscale, and what you would expect in an area like Topanga Canyon. The only annoying thing is that they still wear masks, which just shows total obedience and slavery to the propaganda. Other than that I highly recommend. read more

Peter Sagan and the staff at Canyon Gourmet is FANTASTIC! I had a spur-of-the-moment desire to bring a cheese course to a family reunion I was leaving for that afternoon. I didn't know of a gourmet cheese shop nearby, so I asked Yelp for suggestions. Canyon Gourmet caught my eye. In the morning, I called and spoke to owner Peter K. I told him I wanted five gourmet cheeses of his choice. And I wanted this to be an educational experience, so I explained that I wanted a label describing each cheese. This cheese course turned out to be the star of the reunion meal! The children loved the experience too! Canyon Gourmet's cheese will be a regular course in all future family gatherings! P.S. I must try all the other great food items recommended by Yelp reviewers. What a find! read more

Get there early enough and you can buy Gjusta baguette's and pastry. It's worth moving to to Topanga just for the bread.

What a lovely surprise of a shoppe!! I stopped in to check it out while visiting a friend for the weekend. I don't shop much during Covid , and was very pleased when an employee opened the door for me (yay!! no touching a handle!) everyone kept the required distance, and everything seemed VERY clean. I found a fantastic stock of obviously well considered products, produce locally sourced, and many very healthy "real food" options. Also, great choices in smaller production wines! And..... good heavens those cacao nib shortbread cookies! I actually stopped back in on my way out of town just for another box of those hahaha and in that stop I found a locally handmade chicken potpie... soooooo good. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but not overbearing with suggestions. They were also very knowledgeable in answering my questions about specific items. Is it cheap? No. But also not outrageous when considering the overall quality, selection, and location. About the same cost as going to Whole foods (ugghh) or the farmers market. In my opinion, it is definitely worth it ! I love to support small, locally owned businesses and this is one of my new favorites. A few minutes more of a drive, but I'll gladly make that drive. Really, just such a nice find in the canyon, I only wish I had found it sooner. read more

Best wine curation in LA! This shop is adorable. They layout is very European and it has everything that you would want for a classy picnic. Note "classy" - this is a high-end store. So, don't expect to get out of there without dropping some coin. That said, totally worth it! If you are a foodie, this is the place for you. Totally rude staff, never going back. I was returning a product 30 minutes after I purchased it. The label was in Finnish and misunderstood the ingredients, tried one and it was uneatable. The staff said "This not a Ralph's, do you think we are going to comp you? We can't afford to do that." His tone was so stern and arrogant. I was a little miffed since customer service is down the drain at this hyped-up disorganized and not so amazing "gourmet" shop. Anyplace you return an unusable item you get a refund, it's protocol. Really, really expensive. The way it is organized, you really don't know what you're paying for until you get to the cash register. It seems like a good number of the items do not have a price tag. The cheese is purchased at the register, and there is no signage indicating how much it is per pound. They do though, hand-cut the cheese to the amount you need. I wouldn't go here unless I am SUPER lazy to go to the valley or the coast to pick up groceries. read more

The customer service by the owner was amazing. He was so helpful and kind when me and my friend said we wanted a local wine, he showed us all the wines made in Topanga or nearby Malibu. We picked a wine from Topanga that costed about $25. He even told us that he loves local wine but he explained to us that they'll be inevitably more pricey because it's from a small, local vineyard. We knew that, but just to hear him recognize that it was a little bit pricier made him look so grounded and sweet. They had a plethora of imported and gourmet foods like sauces and honeys and chocolate. They also have homemade soups which looked amazing to he honest. I gave this place four stars b/c the service is impeccable and down to earth, but the prices are a bit steep (which is understandable, but it would be nice if there was just a few more items that were a bit cheaper). I love this place. The staff is helpful (and funny) when you ask for assistance, and they mind their own business when you don't. It's nice to be able to just sniff around without someone being like, "can I help you? What do you need? Do you want that? Do you cook? Do you even know what that is? DO YOU BELONG HERE?" Every time I shop here, I leave with what I needed, and a few things I didn't know I wanted. Such a great, relaxed Topanga vibe of friendly when approached and quiet when not. Love, love, love! Great customer service and the selection of cheeses and imported crackers is very good for a small store. I felt like I was in a hidden gem right in the middle of Topanga! Oh wait a second, I was! I initially came for the Carmela's ice cream but ended up browsing for about 30 minutes. I am a sucker for specialty stores and this one is in my top ten. The wine selection is very nice and includes local wines made in Malibu and Topanga. Truffles and cookies are also homemade! Support local businesses is what I always say! read more

A great little organic-inclined food store with a moderate selection of goods. It was hard to find "vegan" items, so keep in mind that the store isn't necessarily vegan friendly. We stopped buy and bought some soap and some other small items. The hand made ice cream sandwiches were absolutely amazing. It's hard to give a moderate review because it was that delicious- problem are the prices. I get mark-ups, and overhead, and demographic. Just some things were completely insane price-wise. Like, the ice cream sandwiches came to over $6 with tax each. $21 for a bottle of hand soap that we usually get elsewhere for $16. Not that I am upset over that, because it caters to the area's demographic. Overhead for a food store couldn't be that insane- that you'd need that high of a mark-up, but that is none of my business. My point is that: this is a great little shop for people demanding organic foods and products. Just make sure you brought a lot of dough. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Cute little store with many foodie options, fun stuff you want to try but most items are a little pricey... a splurge here could easily break the bank. I decided to buy a truffle... a Mexican chili truffle which I was told by the young man behind the register had a kick to it, some heat... yeah that was a lie, there not a even a hint of heat, not even a teeny tingle on a lip for a moment, nothing. Siiiiiiiiiiigh, that was kinda the whole point. Zero stars there, but they have other truffles so I may stop in to try a different one some day. I also bought this ginger soda that was O.M.G. amazeballs... so damn good, man I am thinking about ordering a case while I am writing this. I bought some sour dough bread here and it was quite burnt and I think I paid like $10 for it. So, because of that I started baking my own sour dough bread and it is a good trick to get it completely baked on the inside without burning on the outside but I have mastered it. The crackers and cheese are very good. I'm going to go today and buy some ice cream because I have heard very good reports on the ice cream there. I think it is wonderful to have a place like this in Topanga and I'm sure I will be visiting many, many times as long as it exists and I live in this area. I live in Topanga and i've stumbled into this shop one or twice under the old managment- I hardly ever wanted to go back! recently Peter, a new Topangan bought the store and has resurrected this tiny cheese shop into a gourmet market filled with organic produce and specialty items!!! The shop keepers are as sweet as pie and very helpful, Peter- the owner seems to really care about what his customers actually want and need. He is very passionate and seems to have remodeled the store to a very comfortable, sleek and happy environment. much luck to the canyon gourmet and i will be returning for one of their FANTASTIC pot pies!!!!!!! read more

Found this lovely cheese store with a good selection however customer service stinks. The tall kid with glasses behind the counter needs a lesson on how to treat its customers. I ordered two samples of cheese to try and each one he cut and deliver to me by throwing the pieces in the counter as if he was serving the owners dogs. Customer service does not exist in that store. Terrible service and definitely won't go back there. read more
