The decorations were very cool. So we decided on a coffee at the coffee shop in the Market instead. I had a holiday Mariah Cherry, white chocolate and cherry latte. It was so very good with a distinct cherry flavor and piping hot. My hubs had an americano that he enjoyed. They can't do simple data entry, look blankly at you like there is no light behind their eyes and a simple call ahead for meds that they've already told you are ready, turns into a 1 hour wait because they are incredibly stupid. Consistently! The pharmacist himself is no better. Definitely mule kicked as a child. I watched him get into a shouting match with a perfectly polite customer. Why would you hire someone who can't control his emotions. I'm blown away CVS employs these reprobates. And while St. Matthews has a lot going on, it lacks convenience stores and/or bodegas. In addition, the owner and the employees are always super friendly and kind. In the past month, they've felt unwelcome in the store. This evening, I walked my son and daughter up to the store so they could buy some candy. I waited outside. My son came out and said that once again, the man behind the counter was rushing him. The man said, "come on, hurry up" and was tapping his hands on the counter. This is the second time this has happened. There was another incident in which my son and his friend rode scooters up to the store. They propped their scooters up against the building and were yelled at and told that they would have to pay $800 if they damaged the building. So, they left and shopped elsewhere. After we walked home tonight I drove up there and politely asked the man if there was a problem with the kids being in the store. I explained the experiences my kids have had. I asked him if he told them to hurry up. He said that he did and went on to explain that a couple of weeks ago "20 kids" came in and they did damage to the store. I feel terrible that happened to him but I told him that my kids were not part of that group and have always been polite. Not to mention, the first time he rushed my kids was several weeks ago. I explained that we support his business. He said he didn't care if it my kids were not part of the group that caused problems. His exact words were, "I am not a Walmart. If you want to shop somewhere else, you can shop somewhere else. Kids have three minutes to shop in the store and that rule is for all kids." It is a bit disheartening that, after trying to talk to him and understand the situation better, he basically told me to shop elsewhere. We won't be shopping at the St. Matthews Mini Mart again. We love to support local businesses so this is a bit disappointing. If you have kids who like to shop there, you may want to supervise them.

Since i work down here i frequent it often. Mostly for an unsweet iced tea but occasionally for a doughnut or two. A little known fact about these doughnuts is that they actually come from Nord's Bakery right here in Louisville. Sinfully delicious! They have a range of breakfast and lunch items, anything from biscuits and gravy to a burger and fries to tuna salad or soup. It's par for the course and does the trick if you are hungry and don't want to walk anywhere outside of the courthouse. The prices are reasonable and they also have ready to grab snacks too, including local treats from Kizito. Oh, and a medley of vending machines that contain all sorts of fun junk food and drinks. Oh and I must say that the people working behind that counter are always friendly and just as efficient.
