They charged me a $1.50 for a coffee refill which on the website and on every other Google site says 59 cents with a rewards card Will this man I don't know what his name was but he had a face covering and he was extremely tall and proceeded to attack me over the counter when I told him it was a dollar and he put my rewards card in it should be 59 cents well he proceeded to tell me horrible things call me names almost attack me over the counter the manager had to step in and stop him from berating me but that didn't work he kept on the entire time I walked out the door screaming and yelling at his top of his lungs calling me profanity someone like that should not have a job in customer service read more

2 different pumps no receipts, One pump would take my visa only after a few tried. Other pumps would not take card at all used inside NP. Never again will I shop here for gas. I have been coming here for years and the black girl that moved north was a sweetheart in the place. Now there's a small black guy with a horrible attitude in there. He needs to work in a warehouse and not somewhere dealing with the public. I'll agree with the other review that the prices are awesome for the NW side. But.. this also depends on the quality of gas you are looking for. Thorntons is bottom of the barrel, low octanes which is why they can charge alot less for gasoline. If you head down Touhy a few more lights to where it meets the 90 overpass, the gas station right there "Speedy" has higher octanes and comparable prices. Think of it this way, the octane of what could be considered silver or gold gas here might be close to the regular octane gas at a Phillips 76 or Shell gas station. Mike O's review is thorough about the offerings in the station. My only beef with this Thorntons is I've witnessed a specific employee get super anal with some people over their usage of the English language. The kinda shit I'd expect in Sandwich or Plano, IL not Park Ridge. read more

If you live around Park Ridge then you are likely to buy your gas at this Thornton's. They consistently have the lowest prices in town. The only drawback to this location is that it is often crowded and it is hard to maneuver in the small lot. This often results in multiple three point turns and frustration. The inside convenience store is decent and has good values on fountain drinks. I will keep coming back here as long as they keep their prices lower than the competition. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program to save $0.03 per gallon! read more

Excellent service! Everyone is courteous and nice. Gas price is low too. We need more people like this.

I was in a hurry the cashier was not at the register I waited for sometime then he finally came. He told me to wait he was going though his register and receipts. Really when you got a customer waiting? That also took time sometime also. Another night a bag of chips said $1.09 I took it to the register and it came up as $1.79. I said the sign said they are $1.09 and pointed the sign, but he yelled at me and said they are $1.59 I pointed to the sign again and the cashier just yelled at me and said $1.59. Its like why did they have a sign that says $1.09? I know 50 cents is not a lot of money, but don't do false ads. read more

I had no problem with Thorntons for many years... then last week I got $200 ftom Chase Banks ATM, all twenties and bought two packs of cigarettes a drink that my friend was going to buy and gave the woman at the register 2 $20 bills. She gave me back less than $10. I looked at the change and said I gave you two $20 bills and she said no you gave me a 20 and a 10. I said I only had twenties but she kept on insisting that that was what I gave her. I took out the $200 in 20s and counted it out and there were two missing. It was the only money I had and my friend also said I saw you give her two twenties. I knew it was useless to report her to the owner because she just would have lied about it. Be careful when you go in there say what you're handing her when you hand her your money. Good luck! :-) read more

Best gas prices in the NW-side of Chicago, Park Ridge, Niles, Des Plaines quadrant. You probably need to go outside Cook County to get a better price per gallon or be a member to buy it at Sam's Club over by Mt. Prospect Rd. & Oakton. I've known about this place for years, long before moving to the area. It's one of those always-busy gas stations that can get really crowded regardless of the time of day. I've found after 8 PM or around 6 AM are the best times to get in and out fast without doing automotive ballet in the lot. Besides gas, they have fountain drinks in their convenience store. My wife keeps a refillable cup for a discount every time she gets her caffeine-free Diet Coke (also a rarity for convenience store fountains). And their cappuccino or other flavored coffees are pretty decent too, though it won't keep me from going to Gloria Jean's. read more

I cannot remember the last time I purchased gas for my car in Chicago. Yeah, it has been well over 10 years since I got gas in Chicago, because of the high-taxes. TIP: GO HERE either on Tuesday or Wednesday, because the CHEAPEST gas prices at this place appears to be on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. I filled up my tank for $3.56 this morning! Wow, that is pretty good considering what the price of gas is in Chicago. Insane!. There is also a BP gas station just about a half-block west of this gas station. The BP always has the SAME PRICES as this Thornton's Gas Station.This review is for their CHEAP GAS PRICES (not their convenience store). If you get here and it is crazy-crowded busy, just drive your ass over to the BP, for the exact same price as Thornton's! TIP: Go early in the morning (before 7:30 am) or after 6 pm to avoid the crazy crowds here. Yes, it is ONLY a gas station, but you know what, it sell cheap gas. This is why I have reviewed it and, again, updated my review to include some HELPFUL tips. If you want to avoid the crowds, do yourself a favor, and follow the above tips. read more

It's a gas station folks. Best part is that it usually has the lowest gas prices in the area and I believe it's family owned. I always pull for the family owned businesses to make their mark amidst the big companies. Friendly staff, whenever I go inside. Now I only wish they had the lottery winners there for when I splurge on the $90 Million or up lottery tickets. read more

I am a valued customer at this location. and all the staff is very customer oriented accept for one staff member/cashier by the name of Sam, he is very rude and treats Spanish people very rude. my wife was there on 3-1-2020 and Sam the cashier treated her like garbage. she was crying when i got home from work. Also Sam has a Hygiene problem especially working around food. he needs to be trained properly in dealing with all customers equally. read more

Average is all I need to describe this. It's not going to be an exciting experience, afterall it's only a gas station. Although I could say that it does usually have the lowest prices around 99% of the time. It's also five blocks away from my house so it's ultra convenient. read more

I use this station quite a bit. Great prices and good location. Get the thortons card so you get the better prices fountain sodas. The staff is nice but you can waiting line with the staff having a palaver with the regulars. That's kind of a drag for the folks looking for the morning coffee and would like to go. Nice people inside, great deals on snacks and especially coffee & fountain drinks...$.89 for a 44oz drink plus a rewards plan when you buy 7 you get one free, and their soda machine has Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Diet Dr. Pepper & Diet Mountain dew. Why is it that you must place merchandise in the center of the store forcing people to walk around it in oder to get to the checkout. I stod in a single line this morning waiting to pay for my coffee. There are two clerks and one line. No wait now there are two lines because a patron didn't know there was only one line. The clerk didn't say anything, just let the rest of us stand there while more people filled in a second line. If all that crap that you try to push on people wasn't there the checkout would go a lot smoother. Of course when I walked in there are three clerks in the store. The line was long and a clerk had to be called up to the register. Really? They just don't pay attention or just don't care! read more
