Thoroclean is the exact wrong name for this outfit. We had them clean the rugs in our daughter's newly purchased townhouse before she moved in. They convinced us to spend nearly $400 instead of the advertised $124. They proceeded to clean for less than 30 minutes and did an awful job. The previous owners cat hair continues to appear in the carpet. Can't believe I suckered for the upsell by this awful company. I called and they made it clear they didn't care. I've had them out to my house for carpet cleaning twice. They were on time and complete the work quickly. 4 rooms in less then a hour. They were able to get almost all of the stains out that were in the carpet and made sure I checked the rooms before they left. I reviewed them 4 stars because they always try to get you on the sanitizer and the scotch guard. Obviously high margin up sells for them. I don't have pets and live alone so I have ever felt they were necessary. Staff was pretty insistent about it and I ended up adding the sanitizer. For $100 additional it cost just as much as the cleaning itself and the guy just wandered around with a pump sprayer and added the stuff. Definitely felt like I got gouged for that service, an extra $30 bucks maybe but double the price to add a little liquid sanitizer def not worth it. Next time I'll just buy my own and pretreat before they come. read more

They did a great job! For starters, they were waiting in the parking lot late Saturday morning until my last client left. I had told them I would not be ready until after 11am Sat and they were unobtrusively waiting for me. My carpets are really old and pretty raunchy. I am not able to change them so I was hoping for the best. They told me that some stains might not come out. Truthfully, I thought I'd be throwing money away, but they managed to get them pretty clean. Some stains, only a few, did not come out, but overall it looks pretty good. It also smells better. They were on time, quick and thorough. I would use them again. read more

Had my living room, bedroom and family room cleaned..floor was SATURATED after they left...NO deep cleaning brushes on spots or high traffic areas. I had to run fans to TRY and dry the floor. Day 2 floor still WET to the touch, not damp, Wet...now I had to call another carpet cleaning company to come extract the moisture and clean the areas that look NO different than before. They were In and Out so quickly I do not know how they could have cleaned properly...obviously they did not. I will use Stanley Steemer again..chalk up as a bad experience, and use my personal carpet cleaning machine in between. read more

I had 3 rooms and steps cleaned by Thoroclean. It was my 1st professional clean in years. Usually I just scrub them by hand. We have no pets but 3 kids which I believe to be the equivalent. I had light stains which they removed and the carpets look great. They were on time and very professional. I opted to include the micro clean for an extra $75. It's bad allergy season, and the thought of dust mites makes me ill. I will definitely use them again. read more

I've used this company for the past two years every 6 months or so, upon they're last visit the van had leaked gas on my driveway, upon finding the gas on my driveway I immediately texted the men in the van so they would be safe an able to rectify the issue . When I notified they're office the following morning I was first told they don't use gas "really" then she said they don't leak "ok " and then proceeded to be rude and deny that it happened. I signed up for a shampoo for three areas. There were two people that came to perform the cleaning. One seemed to be responsible for set up. The other seemed to be responsible for trying to pitch added services. It was basically 30 minutes of steam cleaning. I could have rented a cleaner from Home Depot for significantly less money. They operated fast and seemed knowledgeable. At the end of the day, they got a tip for their speedy holiday work and I learned that there is nothing special about Thoroclean or probably any other carpet cleaning company. As soon as the manager was told about my issue, he immediately called me and they made every attempt to get out to my house right away. I was away for a couple days so they came out the next day I was available. They even called back when there was opening but unfortunately I was still out of town. He explained everything to me in detail about why I still had pet odor and did the disinfectant spray and some other spray as an extra service free of charge. I was very happy with the way the manager handled the situation. The smell in our rental was unique because there was no signs of urine or feces. It was just a strong dog smell and needed to be sprayed again and the home needed to be ventilated more. They gave me no problem with coming back out at all and were happy to help me. THE WORST SERVICE, THE WORST CARPET CLEANING EVER! Find someone else or rip up your carpets and buy new ones before you use these cretins. They don't do edges, they don't clean around or in under radiators, they don't move 2lb floor lamps, they insult the customers, they are RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. Instead of putting blocks in under the furniture, they throw it on beds or haphazardly on top of other furniture. They broke a piece of furniture and when I requested to have them see for themselves since they wouldn't accept the photos, they sent a guy out who was even ruder than the last guy. I've been getting my carpets cleaned for more than 30 years and have never seen nor had such terrible performances and terrible attitudes. They obviously are allowed to treat customers and their homes as they choose which isn't nice. FIND SOMEBODY ELSE. The discount is not worth the ugliness and aggravation of half-dirty soaked through carpets. Oh and BTW, they tell you that "if you don't buy the deodorizer, your carpets will smell like wet musty dog when they finally dry in 2 days!" That is EXACTLY what he said. read more

Had my living room, dining room and family room cleaned. Actual cleaning only took about 15 minutes and about 10 minutes to explain upsell all those other 'carpet protection' chemical spray and stuff. As you can see in the pictures on their website, they only use a sprayer with suction. Not like others I have seen on youtube where they use rotating brushes to agitate the carpet. I'm not impressed at all. In my opinion, their device is not very effective. I feel that I wasted money as my carpet was still dirty when they left. After doing some research, I have decided to buy a $120 Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Washer from Costco and used that to go through the same areas they 'cleaned' and was able to extract more dirt and my carpet looked much better and clean. I did not even use fancy carpet cleaning chemicals, just regular liquid laundry detergent. read more

BUYER BEWARE.....Was told one thing when I scheduled my appointment only to have the cleaners come out to the house and try and up charge us on everything had to pay an extra $70 which was basically the price of the original Groupon. I was quoted a price on the phone for cleaning four rooms; my husband was home for the actual cleaning and they doubled the price on him as well as talked him into expensive add ons. There are still several stains on the carpet and my husband said the team was unfriendly once he refused other services. The company was not helpful when I called about the change in pricing as they said this is what I was quoted-of course I have no way of disproving this since it was a phone quote! read more

It really bothers me that high pressure and fast talking still works at taking elderly people's limited funds. I had arranged for Thoroclean to clean 6 rooms and apply Microban to only one area (outside porch due to mold) of my Dad's house. When The Thoroclean team showed up one of the guys badgered my Dad about all their Scotchgard specials. When he finally realized that my Dad was not going to relent, he changed the subject and hammered Dad with specials on Microban. Dad was overwhelmed and exasperated after 20 minutes of fast talking, and gave in. That cost my Dad an extra $75 for services/products he didn't need. I was furious because the guy came in knowing exactly what we had requested. There was no visible evidence of mold inside the house (air is extremely dry--no mold grows there). There should never have been a "discussion" on Microban for any other room. So Buyer Beware--Thoroclean uses high pressure to pad their bills. My advice--call someone else. P.S. The quality of their cleaning services was only average. I could have done better myself. read more

I purchased the Groupon for their 4 room cleaning service, and of course had to pay for an additional room because the master bedroom was bigger than 250 sq feet (even though the king size bed and two massive dressers which were not moved brought the size of the carpet actually cleaned down to under 250 sq feet (as mentioned by others, this Groupon is not worth it, it is scam and you would do better hiring any other company) . I was also talked into purchasing the microban and scotchguard upgrades since I have a 2 year old who is always spilling things. Everything looked ok when they left, except several stains that I thought would come up did not. Two days later, and well after the carpet had dried, my daughter spilled a little water on the carpet....and big surprise....it was absorbed by the carpet immediately, meaning there was definitely no scotchguard applied. I then went to each room that they were hired to scotchguard to test it, and likewise, none of them were. I am now doubtful that they disinfected the carpets either, but unfortunately cannot prove that one. I've called and they are going to come back out to apply scotchguard (free of charge, they told me, like as if they are doing me some kind of favor, correcting their poor service). Hopefully nothing other than water spills before they come. There is nothing like spending a lot of money, getting ripped off, and then having to waste your time to have it done twice. If that sounds like your type of deal, by all means, hire Thoroclean. read more

I ordered carpet cleaning service for an elderly couple, whom I have known all my life. The husband is in the early stages of Alzheimer's and they were totally taken advantage of by Thoroclean. As noted in the other reviews, these elderly couple was pressured to add services they didn't want, to the tune of an additional $150. When I contacted Thoroclean to ask why the order was changed, when I was the one who ordered the service, I was told there was nothing they could do, and I was referred to customer service. I contacted customer service, and the reply from them was the most offensive response I ever received in my life. In response to my complaint, I was called a liar and told that I intentionally misrepresented the facts in my complaint. It was simple... I ordered the service, I received the phone call as to the time Thoroclean would arrive, and I cleared out the rooms to be cleaned and told the couple the "quoted" price over the phone, which Thoroclean explicitly denied as a "quote." Their explanation was that was just as estimate over the phone. Additionally, I was blamed for their pressure tactics and told I should have been there if I didn't want them to change the services. Then, I was told I was irrelevant, in that I was NOT the customer, even though I ordered the service and orchestrated the entire event to have the carpets cleaned for this couple. If I was irrelevant, I wonder why Thoroclean showed up in the first place to perform any service for a couple who didn't call them and didn't order the service. I feel personally horrible for convincing this couple on a fixed income to use the services of Thoroclean because I found them on the internet. I will take one bit of advice from them... I will protect this elderly couple from companies like them, as I WILL be present in the future, if I need to order services from anyone for them again. The only reason they got a one star was because a zero star was unavailable. Oh, BTW, it was interesting that the president of the company is also the customer service rep. Nice guy; not. read more
