The college's motto of "Mind, Body, Spirit" truly shines through in academics and throughout campus life. I love all of the clubs and activities that are available to students - especially how welcoming they are and that there are clubs that focus on mental and emotional health as well as teams and club sports that promote physical health and activity. The campus has activities for students nearly every day and evenings on the weekends, and the Bingos are super fun and are really popular with the students. The precamp program offered to incoming freshmen is incredible - my daughter made great friends there and it was an awesome experience for her. She has also participated in Leadership Training opportunities that have been incredible as well. The Springfield Campus is very clean and attractive with grassy areas, flowering trees and plants, a lake, well maintained buildings, a modern library, up-to-date athletic facilities, and a comfortable student union. Although parts of the city of Springfield are rough, this college campus feels safe. The campus security department does a great job and my daughter feels very safe walking on campus at any time of day or night. My daughter is in the PT program and I am very impressed with the quality of academics at Springfield. I feel that she is being well prepared for her future career, her professors are accessible and helpful, and the tutoring and opportunities for academic support have been outstanding. It's also pretty awesome that Springfield offers an accelerated DPT program where she will be able to complete the program in 6 years rather than 7, saving her an entire year of tuition. Food at the Cheney Dining Hall is not bad, though my daughter wishes there were more consistent choices, like having a stir fry station available daily, or having a grill with burgers/hotdogs/grilled cheese/chicken sandwiches/fries available daily at lunch and dinner would be great as well. The dorms are very varied, with traditional dorm rooms with shared bathrooms for the floor, to suites, to townhouses. Some dorms have elevators, and a few have AC. The administration at Springfield is very supportive, enthusiastic, and is doing a great job leading the college. President Mary Beth Cooper knows many students by name and attends most of the campus events. I'm so glad my daughter chose Springfield and I highly recommend this school.

I can share this is one of the worst college pool facilities we have visited. It's old, super uncomfortable bleachers, no air flow in the building so it's hot. No snack bar or vending machines. The bathrooms this visit were not maintained during a long competition. Usually the lot is shared with a basketball tournament so a chaotic parking lot. It does offer a lot of vantage points.

Navigate your way along a contoured backroad off of a main highway, and find Expressions Pottery…read moreWorkshop. I visited during the Workshop's open house, getting to meet the artists and see their creations displayed in a small area out front with pots and perennials for sale. I then ventured into the studio, where I have been wanting to take a pottery class for some time. The studio is beautiful and cozy. There is a slightly awkward half-step down in the main door and then two small steps up into the main work area, where classes are held or pottery is thrown. Right inside the main door is a square-room where pieces from artists are displayed for purchased, anything from pots and mugs to ornaments and trays. Each piece is crafted with love and care, with endless amounts of creativity mixed in. These pieces are one-of-a-kind. I purchased a flower pillow--yes, a small pillow with holes for flowers to poke out of--with delicate flowers already placed carefully in by the artist, who walked by and saw me looking at the piece and told me I could have the flowers as well if I purchased the piece. I was able to chat with her a few minutes and she described to me how she made it. I love open houses just for that--I meet and chat with the artists right there!! I also purchased a gorgeous ornament with outstanding detail and a tiny hanging mirror with a beautifully crafted sun ray-like frame. It is amazing to see all of these works of art, which are crafted right there in the studio. The Workshop offers 9-week classes during each of the seasons, one class in the mornings and one in the evenings. The price for these classes is rather high, about $325, and it seems as though you need to buy your own bag of clay for $20 on top of that, though I do not know for sure. There is a special discount for summer classes, which are $290. My student budget cannot really afford that at this time (as well as my hectic school schedule), but it seems like you will be taught by skilled instructors and work in a nice comfortable place, covered in this "tuition." I spoke with Kathy, who runs the classes; she told me all about the classes and suggested an instructor as I am a beginner. She was extremely kind and helpful, not to mention very welcoming!! Each individual I met at the Workshop was very friendly and helpful. I am very impressed by this small studio!! From the comfortable atmosphere to the kind artists, I will definitely be returning--and hopefully for a class--to Expressions Pottery Workshop!! It is a wonderful hidden find!!

I am honored to be the first to give this 5-star establishment a review. According to the owner,…read moreit's been around for a couple of years so I'm surprised that it hasn't had a review yet. I think it might be because the location of it is not easy to find. It's behind a small shopping strip. Even the directions that Yelp has on here is confusing when you put it on the GPS it'll take you to the strip but then you have to make sure to drive around the back. I've been doing pottery for close to a year back home, but when I came to visit family, they expressed a desire to do something pottery related and so I came on here to Yelp and found out about Ceramic Studio. It's a small place. Immediately when you walk in, you'll see loads of ceramics that are available for glazing/painting. It ranges from as cheap as $5. What I like most about this place is that the price you see on the ceramic piece is the final price (not including of course tax and if you use credit card you'll be charged $2) I've been to other ceramic painting places and if you use glazes like the jungle gems, that's extra or you'll get an extra firing fee. They don't do that here, and I appreciate that. There's two rooms. One where walk-ins can come and paint, and another for if you book a party. When I was there, I felt like I was at a family members house. It's hard to describe. It's just really laid back and comfortable. They use a white bodied clay, and the glazes you can choose from are Mayco brand. I use Mayco when I do my pottery pieces and it's a good brand. I like that they have a chart with sample pieces of what they can come out looking like after firing. When you're new to glazing, a lot of times you don't realize that the paint color you use comes out looking totally different after firing, and they do a good job of letting you know what you can expect. You can see our before and after pics that I posted on here to get an idea. Overall, this spot is very affordable, felt right at home and if I lived in this area I'd probably be there all the time.
