Upon arrival she asked us to fill out a form. When my wife asked her a question about who needs to fill out the form, she gave a very rude answer, "I handed out the clipboards and told you!" This behavior of not wanting to be receptive to questions or possibly having to repeat herself a second time, really killed the vibe of having a fun guided tour. I explained that we are novice and she still acted cold. When giving her initial instructions, she played blazing music and talked really low, so you couldn't even hear her. Then when you asked her for additional instructions she would respond with, "I already told you!" On the tour, she continued to talk at a whisper and she would give her instructions when half the group wasn't even close to her to hear. She may be knowledgable about the wildlife, but the way she conducts herself with a group was dismal. An AI robot has more friendly manners than her. Not sure if she was having a bad day, or if she is just like this on the norm, but her personal skills or lack of, really ruined the experience. She had the nerve to ask for tips when it was done. Wish we had a better guide.

It is so beautiful and remote and full of wildlife. The best part... it's free! This is a beautiful driving trail designed just for soaking up wildlife. Our favorite part of coming here is rolling down the windows and counting the various birds and alligators. At one time we counted 13 alligators in one drive. It's fun to see who can spot the most. The drive takes less than 40 minutes but if you really take your time and stop in the sections reserved for pulling over and parking you can spend hours here. There are various spots with viewing towers to overlook the reserve. There are also interpretive signs explaining the bird species in the area. I would highly suggest taking a detour next time you go to the Kennedy space center and taking a drive here. Also some advice is to bring drinks and snacks for the car because you may grow hungry on the remote drive.

I loved my experience at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. While attending a conference…read morerecently, I needed a little bit of an escape and decided to head toward to coast to get my nature fix. I ultimately only chose to come here because it was the closest place with manatee viewing. I made the drive from Orlando, and made my first stop at the Visitor Center. If you have your America the Beautiful pass, you're all set, but I didn't get a new one this year, so I paid $10 for my visitor pass. Cin at the volunteer desk was super helpful and showed me where I should go. I ultimately decided on the Black Point Wildlife Drive - a 7-ish mile drive that provided some great opportunities to see various birdlife. If you're a birder - which apparently I've become - you'll enjoy this. I saw a variety of species almost immediately, and I bet there are even better times to come through this area to see larger flocks during migration. I took my time on the drive and enjoy the quiet and relative remoteness of the place. After that I headed east and then north to check out the Manatee Observation Deck by the Haulover Canal. I stayed here for a short amount of time, but didn't see anything. So on Cin's advice, I went back toward the Bairs Cove boat launch. And boy was this a treat. There were no people when I first arrived, but there were definitely manatees. After a while, a few other people showed up just for watching manatees - not to put boats in. One lady put her feet in the water and manatees came up and booped their noses on her feet. It was incredible to see these creatures in the wild - some of them mothers with little ones twirling around by their sides. The skies started to turn black, and while I personally missed the rainstorm, it was time to pack up and head out back to Orlando. I'm so glad I made the decision to come here, and I highly recommend it for any of those who are nature-lovers!

Because I…read morestarted on Trip Advisor and forgot this one (forgive me fellow Yelpers, Scott deserves love from both sites!). OK, I could write for hours on how great the trip was, how on top of things Scott was and how many big fish we caught but I think you get the idea - it was a great day! We reserved Captain Scott's services for an outing over Father's Day weekend. He dropped his nets and hat us bait fish in no time flat and then we were off. No sooner than he dropped a line in the water for us, we were pulling up a nice big Rainbow Runner. Over the day we caught our fair share of fish and I was eating Cobia out of my freezer for weeks. If you're wondering how much different a charter boat is from a "party boat" like the Miss Cape Canaveral and Orlando Princess, I'll put it like this. One of my catches on the Charter boat had more meat than ALL of the fishes I've caught on over 10 outings on those party boats...combined! I'm spoiled now and I'll most likely never step foot on anything but Scott's boat for charter fishing now. When we mentioned who we went with around other fishermen, they all knew Scott and told us we picked right. Everyone Knows Scott, it seems. Tips: Bring your own cooler, drinks and food. Bring some sunscreen and a hat Captain Scott's got the rest I truly have nothing bad to say about the outing and I have already booked him for the Saturday before Father's Day 2015 so back off, it's mine!

(oh colorado and its snow :( ) We got a new date and time and location planned. and it worked out really well. None of us had ever surfed before and honestly we have not spent that much time at the ocean. We have super tiny and petite yet tall, tall and muscly and then normal in our group They were able to accomodate us all as far as wet suits went as well. Our teacher was fantastic! And this ended up being all of our absolute favorite thing that we did while in Florida. We tried to get back in for another lesson but in Miami on the last couple of days of our trip and unfortunately for us they were all booked up. Highly recommend!!!! And dont forget to bring a little cash to tip your teacher/instructor at the end of your lesson. It is a service job :)

I had previously been to SoBe Surf Shop with a friend after we took a SUP lesson by the shop's owner, Girard, after she purchased her board from him. When she purchased her board, it included a free lesson and she was able to bring a friend. I was so glad she let me go along because even though we had both been paddling for several months, we both knew our technique could use some work and Girard's instruction definitely helped! Our lesson took place a couple of miles from his shop at the Brevard Vererans Memorial in a little Cove just behind the memorial. The lesson itself was great - there were only three of us so after giving us a brief lesson, Girard took the time to watch our paddle technique and make suggestions for adjustments so we were able to practice and immediately get constructive feedback. Girard was very patient and clear in his instruction and by the end of our session I was able to fix the issues with my paddle technique. The shop itself isn't anything fancy, but it serves its purpose. He has a number of different stand up paddleboards in stock, and carries high quality brands ar various price points so you should be able to find one that is perfect for you. My friend and I had both done quite a bit of research on the type of board we wanted and what features were important to us. Girard is incredibly knowledgeable and great at explaining the differences in the boards and how they affect it's use. He carries boards that are perfect for touring, racing and yoga. He is not a pushy salesman at all, which I loved. He also carries different accessories like leashes, paddles, waterproof cases, car racks, apparel, and even ukeleles!! After my friend purchased her SUP, I was pretty sure I wanted the exact same one and Girard was great answering any of my questions either by phone call or text messages. He was always quick to respond. Once I was ready to purchase my board, he let me put a deposit down (using my credit card) on the SUP I wanted. I had also talked to him about my need for a soft rack pack for my car and he ordered one to keep in the shop, but said there was no pressure to purchase it. My board package came with a leash, carbon fiber paddle, and cover bag. I also ended up purchasing the soft rack pack for my car. Girard was so helpful, teaching me how to install the racks and load my board safely and securely. I got home via highway roads with no concerns or issues about the safety of my board on my car while driving 70mph! Captain Rick kept in contact and even gave us an opportunity to move our scheduled tour so we would get better weather. By the time our tour rolled around, it was a beautiful day with nothing but sunshine. Captain Rick was obviously very knowledgeable about where the gators would be so we were able to see a lot of them during our hour ride, including some of the biggest alligators I'd ever seen.
