The staff is great at Valley Verde Cottonwood, AZ from the guard to the office staff & maintenance crews. It's my first Thousand Trails stay, and it's been a great experience for me & my Rv. The only draw back is the pool is not heated in the winter, bd my campsite section H, the restrooms and showers have been closed due to maintenance, and it's past its finish date still being worked on til date There are other showers in other sections, but it's a ways down the road for a shower & it's cold to be commuting to and from a shower especially with wet hair. The adjacent restrooms is in the H section activity room main lodge which is great. Overall I'll definitely be back and hope the restroom maintenance will be completed by then. And if you have mail delivered to you during your stay there's a $2 charge for every piece of mail you pick up at the main office lobby. Happy camping! read more

My husband and I stayed at one of the little cabins for a night and we had a great experience. The cabin had everything as described when I booked it and was clean. The staff we interacted with while here were all nice and we enjoyed some of the amenities like the mini golf. The views were good and the area was quiet and peaceful. I would recommend if you want a nice but less expensive place to stay while visiting wine country. read more

Great campground and super friendly staff. Campgrounds were huge with hundreds of sites. We stayed down by the pool which was very quiet despite the campsite being very full. Lots of really cool hiking trails all throughout the campground itself. And a cool RC racetrack to explore with the toys. Grounds were very well kept and were conveniently located next to several things to do in the area. The campsite was sooo dark at night it was crazy. So awesome to sit out and look at the stars. Would definitely recommend- especially if you have the membership. read more

The park it self is amazing. The homeless duct taped up RVS are the problem. several times RVS held together with cardboard and duct tape. The mess they made was awful. Plus leaving there dog in the RV for 3 days alone. The rif raf is getting worse from the camping pass or (AKA HOMELESS PASS). read more

Love the location of this rv park/campground. Close to Sedona, Jerome, Cottonwood, and other points of interest. We paid a little extra for premium site with and expansive view, twice the space of the other sites. Our site was also across from where one of the network of trails in the park. Twice a day I hiked up and down the trails with my dogs enjoying the distance views of mountains and rock formations. Didn't take advantage of the amenities much, to busy outside of park to do so. They do offer a pool, sports courts, river access, winery next door, multiple dog parks. The bottom section closer to river and amenities sites are closer together, but there is always a trade off. read more

Been here a couple times and have loved it! Nice staff, great amenities and games to play, clean bathrooms + showers, huge pool, and right on the river! If you want to float the river, go buy a tube at Big 5 Sports (in Cottonwood). As you are driving into the park, you'll see a road on your left that has a sign "river access." Drive down that. You'll need a 4X4 or something. Definitely don't take a Honda civic down there-- you'll mess up your car big time with the huge rocks and probably get stuck. Anyway, park down there and ride your tube back down to the RV park. My friend and I just miraculously happened to get off our tubes at the exact spot of our RVs lol, but we would recommend putting out a flag or something so you'll see where to get off. The river runs pretty slow, so it'll take you about 3 hours to float that section of the river. Definitely recommend doing this- best part of the RV park's location!! RV park is also very close to the town of Cottonwood which is a super cute, quaint town in AZ. It's about 45 minutes to Sedona, too. Highly recommend visiting the TT here! Also, it's a huge, hilly park- so bring your walking shoes! Some spots have trees and others are in the direct sun. read more

Laundry facility is unavailable and has been left unrepaired apparently for several years now. Why in the world would you not repair your facilities? When I asked a team member why this hasn't been fixed, they said the best way to get the company to take action is to leave a negative review. WTF. Ugh! Weird staff at front really get off on yelling at people. We stopped in to check the place out and the guy at front gate was unhelpful and rude. We came anyway, but it was a mistake. My wife went over 5 mph ONE TIME through the gate and we had to endure 6 different occasions of being admonished. WEIRD!! They wouldn't even explain what they were talking about, just slammed the door in our face. EVERY time we reentered the park was a rude lecture. We were nice the first couple of times, then just rolled up the window and ignored them. Was so unpleasant and tense every time. Funny thing, i have dash cam video. So what trip are they on? What a cute little camp spot along the Verde River! My goal was to find a nice tent spot nestled in between Cottonwood and Sedona, and along the Verde River for easy canoe access. Upon driving onto the property we were greeting by a very friendly gatekeeper who wished us a great stay and suggested spots for canoeing and exploring the area. We were happy to find that the resort had a lovely pool and jacuzzi, (perfect after a day of adventuring or traveling) warm, cozy bathrooms after sleeping in a tent site in 50 degrees, and large clean campsites, many of them with trees and many close enough to hear the Verde River water down below. Being unable to get to the river from our campsite was our only disappointment. We stayed in the "A" section, which has tent and pop-up spots around rows of their mini cabins and RV spots. We were initially worried about the noise from all of the RV's, being more of the backwoods camping sorts, but the entire place is very calm and quiet. A short walk across what the property will find you at Alcantara Winery. It was the perfect place to end our day of exploring the area. I'd certainly come back to the park in the future. read more

Note my review is regarding the tiny house, not the RV sites. I had such a lovely stay here! The tiny house/cabin was actually a tiny RV (had wheels) which made me want to get one honestly so I can drag it around. I'm solo traveling and It was cozy and perfect for a 2 night stay. I booked two nights because they wouldn't let me do 1 night and I'm glad I did 2 - at first I was worried because of the internet access, but the tiny house was soo cute and I loved stargazing with some local wine at night (so many stars!) I would say 2 people max, 3 would be pushing it. Close to Sedona and cottonwood (10-30 minute drive), otherwise there is nothing else actually around the area that's in walking distance so just be aware. It had all the kitchen amenities as well as bbq outside and a picnic table. Free parking. I didn't use any of the other amenities so I can't review on those. Each cabin did have a satellite TV which I was grateful for. I have T-mobile 5G and I did get 1 bar in the cabin (hooray) so I stayed connected and could make some phone calls. This place is HUGE! Took me like 10-15 minutes just to find the cabin in pure darkness. Also was warned even before I got in like I was a child not to go over the speed limit (5 mph) at the gate... which was a bit strange. The office closes at 4pm but you can still late check in at the security gate until midnight or so (maybe even past that if you give them heads up) since there's security at the gate. read more

Friendly staff, very clean and COVID compliant park. Very nice and helpful residents. Work is available for a nominal $5ish dollars a day or $15ish per week and you can connect up to 4 devices. However it's unavailable in some parts of the park. We am we're at site H115 and could not access any internet. We tried theirs, and both our T-Mobile as well as Verizon. The scenery is pretty and sites are very level. Full hookups and 30amp is included with TT membership. There are also 50amp hookups available for an upgraded price. Meh. Didn't live up to its advertising. The website advertised it as an RV "resort." Not. They advertised 50 amp service, Wi-Fi, on-site store and laundromat. I knew up-front that they charge a $4 a day "resort fee." I figured that was for the amenities... not sure what that paid for... Upon arrival, there is ongoing road construction. When you check in you are given a map of available sites. Many of the sites we checked were too tight for our rig (40') to get into. We finally found a site and of course, there was no 50 amp service available, only 30 -- and it was only putting out 113 volts instead of 120 so we had issues with our AC. No Wi-Fi. Of course the literature advertised Wi-Fi throughout the park. And no mention that you have to pay for it. I thought that the $4 a day "resort fee" would cover that - but no. But the wi-fi they had was useless -- only 5 MBPS!! And they wanted $5.95 a day for it. The free wi-fi in the lodge was equally slow and practically useless. Forget about watching or downloading a video -- just the slow spinning circle of death. The site were not level. The on-site store? Closed. The on-site laundry? Closed. The entire campground (not a resort) looked very dated. read more

I just want to give a shout out and a huge thanks to the staff at Verde Valley RV Park! They have been absolutely fantastic during this virus situation. I arrived here with a three week reservation and I'm still here five weeks later. I'll finally be leaving next week. They have been so kind and so helpful. Everything from extending reservations to accepting package deliveries, park upkeep, virtually everything! I have not met one staff person who hasn't been upbeat, helpful and friendly. I was even blessed with super great neighbors during this stay (keeping our distance of course). I love this park and can't wait to be back next year! Thank you Verde Valley staff so very much! We were so looking forward to arriving at Verde Valley RV and camping resort and it was a total bust. There are virtually no facilities available--the laundry room was closed indefinitely and no WiFi available in the bottom half. We went to the little store to get ice and there was no one there to sell it to us. We paid for WiFi for two days and couldn't get on for more than a few minutes the first day and could never get on it the second day. Our site was not much more than a dirt pile--very dirty with a single picnic table. On the upside--the people around us were very kind. We have stayed in lots of state parks, campgrounds and rv parks--this one will be at the bottom of our list. read more

Easy check in; pool closed for season, but spa open year round. We enjoyed our stay in section H. We were close to the Family Lodge, which had solid wifi. Our neighbors were quiet and nice. The campground is close to Cottonwood, Camp Verde and reasonably close to Sedona, Jerome and Prescott. Cell phone service was flaky in the area, even in town and with lots of bars on the phone. We had both Verizon and AT&T, but locals told us they have all been acting bad lately. Hopefully that clears up. The highway from I-17 was under construction with new roundabouts about every mile, 6 between I-17 and the turn. read more

We stayed in this park the first 10 days of February 2020. Beautiful park. Lots of really fun activities. Too hilly for mobility scooters, so be aware of that. High elevation aggravated our arthritis and we had trouble breathing, but normal folks will love this place. Best cell signal is at the sites in the upper sections. Their laundry facility was out of commission, but they are working on a lot of improvements to the park, the laundry is one of them. We would stay here again except for the elevation making us physically miserable. read more

This has got to be one of the best campgrounds (to date) we have visited in all of the US. Very large campground with great amenities and nice sized lots. Staff is all very friendly and welcoming. Well maintained grounds with plenty to do throughout the campground. They offer a pool and hot tub, off leash area for dogs, and plenty of hiking trails, there are several activities going on every day/night both for adults and kids. They do seem to have a lot of rules but they are all very common sense. We would absolutely stay here again if ever in the Cottonwood area. read more

We received a membership to Thousand Trails when we bought our new RV and have not been at all impressed with the TT Parks. They are outdated, poorly kept, and the staff seem lazy and uninterested. THIS WAS THE EXCEPTION! The only downside to the park was the lack of connectivity (WiFi and Cell Phone) and the fact that the central reservations line failed to tell us that we had to call the park directly to reserve a 50 amp site. Otherwise this was a lovely experience. The site was pretty level, although very close to our neighbors. With slides our there was barely 3 feet between coaches. But, the entire park was clean, well kept and well managed. This is one TT Park the deserves your business read more

I booked this place because on-line they advertised a ton of extra curricular activities. When we got there, nothing was available. It was like parking in the middle of the hot barren desert. No fun at all. They even closed the pool, (the ONLY activity) at 5:00! We were very disappointed. They offered no discount for our stay. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because the staff was very kind and there was water in the river. read more

Worst place we have ever stayed. Leaving a day early as I refuse to spend another day here. Unless you are a long timer/live there don't expect a good spot with shade. There is no grass for the dogs either. You'll be very lucky if you actually get a spot around the dog walk area. We were not and most of the time our little dog would just end up going in the middle of the street because she couldn't hold it any longer. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Covered in bugs. Paid for internet that did not work as well. Barking dogs at 5:30am and guy next to us running his generator all night even though you aren't supposed to. Save yourself the headache and book somewhere else. read more

If you are a member of thousand trails you will be disappointed in this property. WiFi is terrible and not free. It's nearly impossible to get a 50amp hookup. Of the 266 spots over 100 of them are residents for longer then a month. (I drove the property and counted, so this is not an exaggeration) It's more like a mobile home park than an RV camping park. I will add that the staff are great at the facility and very helpful. This is why I can not give the park a one star. read more

This was our first "RV Resort" and Thousand Trails experience and I have to say, I was disappointed. It's basically a huge RV park with a gate. The roads were narrow, the spots were tight, and the full timers there were very particular about their "yards." I was told by one to keep my dogs off their lawn. Picture Clint Eastwood snarling "GET OFF MY LAWN," but replace him with a 76-year old snow bird. We were there for about 12 hours and had to move sites to use the fresh water hookup. We were woken up at 7:30 AM by a bulldozer next door digging up a water line. Maybe the retired folk were up, but I certainly was not. That work shut down the water lines for the entire section (probably 120 sites), which the management neglected to mention when we checked in the night before. We moved down the road to section A to finish our dishes and take a shower. We couldn't get out of there soon enough. We paid $24 with Passport America, and even at that rate, I don't think I'll stay here again. read more

We have been to many Thousand Trails parks over the last 14 years and never been visited by the rangers or security. We have been here for about a week and have had two visits from them. I need to add that we are one of three RV sites and the others around us are permanent leasees. We have 2 small service dogs and unfortunately one of them went potty on the grass while on a leash heading to the dog walk. It was picked up immediately but it was reported and that was visit #1. Visit #2 it was reported our dogs were running around the park not on leashes. They were actually sitting outside enjoying the sun at the picnic table on our site and with my boyfriend sitting at our table. I appreciate the rangers and security being so prompt to respond to issues but when does it turn to harassment? In looking at the other reviews it appears that the leasees feel they own their site, grass, and dirt. Their feelings of ownership or entitlement is making this traveling RVer feel harrased. Several other fellow RVers have made comments about the 400 to 500 Sheriffs in the park. If you like being watched under a microscope then I really recommend this park. read more

Really great place to rent a cabin! Unlike some of the others who reviewed this place, we had an excellent experience. The cabin was spacious with a loft for my little boy, he loved it! There was a fire pit out back where we roasted marshmallows and made hot dogs! We played miniature golf, ping pong and just enjoyed ourselves. I'm not sure about the RV park area but I would recommend the cabins. We spent time exploring the town of Cottonwood and discovering Jerome, AZ while there. Highly recommend! read more

It says they have a pool and spa, laundry and a game room. They should probably post on the website that it is all closed. We left drum RV for this and was very disappointed. We initially said we wanted it for two nights when we arrived. Then after seeing the spot and realizing there's no internet and everything is closed we asked for a refund for one night as we planned on leaving ASAP for another location. They said no and gave us a number for the corporate office-which was disconnected. It appears this is a RV site for old people that live here-not for a family traveling. So, be advised if you have kids. The old folks take over the TV in the game room.. lol. Fine with me but just be aware this is their home. We decided to get out in the am after the kids did their homeschool in the "clubhouse." We had to use the clubhouse because the WiFi sucks. We even paid for it and couldn't get on. And when I called the helpline line no one is available for 24 hours. Sooo kids had to do work in the clubhouse for school in order to get anything done!!My husband pulled the trailer up to the clubhouse for a smooth transition of WiFi to hotspot. I went to the trailer to drop off the back pack and was accosted by security who told me I can't leave my kids alone. They were in the clubhouse without me for about 5 min. I'm really not sure what the snowbirds live here either. It's more expensive than the nice rv park we came from. I recommend you stay outta here -unless you're 70+ end like to play wii bowling tournaments. Go to the drum RV. They have a pool, hottub, laundry, game room etc and are super nice. I'm so sad we left!! But now we're gonna just park off the road and camp there. There's a BLM road on the way to Sedona. I recommend that too if you don't mind dry camping. Please --for the sake of your kids--keep driving past this place!!! read more

Not a TT member. Stayed in an RV site for three nights. Pros: · Location is close to many nature attractions. · The guy at the guard shack was friendly. · Quiet at night. Cons: · I had made the reservation for another guest staying in a cabin. Although that other guest provided their own CC for payment, they still charged my card for their entire stay. · Witnessed a resident screaming at another guest camping with us for going almost 15 mph in a straight, open part of the park on a downhill and slowing. · Witnessed another resident screaming at some people whose dog stepped on the rocks in THEIR campsite. · Grass in park sites is only maintained for residents. Everyone else gets dirt and dead grass. · Got a note on my windshield because I had a mat placed on the dead 'grass' in my site, stating that mats can't be on the grass. Apparently that applies to dry, dead, brown dirt that had grass on it at one time but is not maintained. · Another guest camping with us got the same note for a tiny mat right outside their RV door. · The best spots are only for residents. Don't plan on getting a 'nice' one. · The paid Wifi in 'A' section is slow and sporadic at best. · No access to the Verde River. It's fenced off. Verdict: Not recommended. If you're not a TT member, stay elsewhere or risk getting screamed at by residents and getting notes on your vehicle for anything you 'do wrong'. read more

We stayed in the Rose tiny cabin and absolutely LOVED it! The view looking out over the Verde River and the surrounding cliffs was amazing. The security guards were very kind and professional when they helped us with our late check-in and then with our firewood request later in the weekend. All of our RV "neighbors" were quiet and friendly, and the lodge area was well-kept. There was even a short little hiking trail that led down to the Verde River, which was a great way to enjoy the nice weather. The tiny cabin was definitely tiny, but perfect for a couple on a get-away weekend! We will definitely be visiting again! read more

Large park with beautiful rolling hills and amazing scenery! Welcome Center staff was friendly and they allowed us to choose our own site. We ended up in section B and our pull-through FHU site was comfortable but extremely cramped on one side. The laundry facility is being renovated so it was unavailable. Good restrooms and showers. No free wifi at our site but my AT&T hotspot worked ok. Wifi for a fee is available but we did not partake. The free wifi in both lodges was good. There is no cable but we were able to get 20+ over the air TV channels. Pool and spa were clean and well maintained. 10 mph speed limit is a little slow, but we understand that safety comes first. Park is being expanded and several new back-in sites became available during our stay. We also met with on-site Thousand Trails salesperson Jed to discuss possibly upgrading our zone membership, and he was very kind. Easy 10 minute drive to Walmart and many other businesses in Cottonwood. read more

For the prices, this park could be in a lot better shape. Half the camp site where we were were off line. Horrible cell service and WiFi is only available in club house. If you have a dog, there are designated areas to walk your dog. They have bags to clean up after your pup but no trash can closeby to dispose of it. You have to walk down to the far end of the park section to dispose of it. Some folks apparently didn't or couldn't walk that far so they just didn't bother to pick up after their dogs. Also if you are not a resident be prepared to be yelled at if they think you are speeding - trust me even if you are going the posted 5 mile an hour speed limit they will think you are speeding. read more

Stayed in a cabin with friends and had a wonderful time. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff are awesome. ...Alcantarra Winery is nearby and has a beautiful view when you're wine tasting. This will be our new out of town escape since our favorite restaurant in Cottonwood is close by (Nic's Crab House). read more
