I thought our technician Julian did a great job with communication and the installation. He was very professional. I would say the sales team that pays visits to customers need more training on product knowledge. I paid A LOT of money to have my basement water proofed. The overall outcome was very poor. There were holes left in the sheathing, busted concrete left in the track system, grates cemented over that were supposed to have been removable, concrete left in the new sump basin, toilet set crooked, sink set away from the wall when it had previously been flush. Paid up front for a sewer line tap that was not done. I'm very unhappy with the overall experience & feel that I did NOT get the overall quality that I thought I was paying for by choosing a company that has been around for so long. The shotty work has delayed the progress of our rebuild.... Very sad experience, I will not be recommending this company to anyone. read more

Well Derek our measurement person was great and very professional. The installation was a little difficult for them due to the age of my house and the fact that the joists old style 2 inches instead of modern 11/2". So they had to adjust accordingly. At any rate they did a good job for what they had to work with . Clean up was fine and they were good guys! read more

They completed a rush job (anchor walls, water proofing, sump pump, and window wells) in 2 days at the beginning of April. A month later still having issues with incomplete patch of wall not water proofed and water still coming into basement around window. AddItionally, they removed ductwork and a terrible job putting it back. I'm sorry that I went with them. Terrible experience. They are just concerned with making money and not the customer. read more

Nick, our salesperson evaluated our basement walls and answered all of our questions. Jesus, Tyler, and Tanner installed wall support beams on our basement walls and installed a new sump pump and dehumidifier. guy came for regular yearly check. new pump and battery: 2,000. plus, he told me replace it every five years. plus, he wanted me to hire company to lift my sidewalk. met another woman who had a similar experience with Thrasher/ Midwest basement. When you own a home, sometimes there are things that you need piece of mind about. So if you live in a house that is 100 year old. It might not be the worst idea to have someone come over and see if your house is structurally sound! We called Midwest Basement Systems and they offer to have a specialist come out and give your house a look over! Jesse was prompt, on time, and very nice! He answered all our questions, gave us some history about how our home was built and gave us piece of mind that our home would still be standing in another 100 years! He gave us some tips on things we could do, and things to keep our eyes on. He also gave us a quote on a easy half day service they provide that would secure our home even more! Usually I'm the type of person who does not get worried about things that I have little control of, but Jesse showed me I have complete control of my home and that with a keen eye and a few great tips, our home will be standing strong long after I'm gone and that gives me piece of mind! read more

Called about my wet basement and they told me my sump pump wasnt big enough to handle the volume and I needed to put a bigger one in and run a different line to pump the water out. They drilled throught the builidng and tapped into a downspout which runs out onto the street. (It created an unsightly puddle with algae right at the curb to my business. This was done even after they were told it was against city ordinances to pump water from your property onto the street.) When I asked them to come back out, they did but advised me they could change the discharge pipe by digging up my driveway and putting a pipe through to the lot next door-for the cost of $1800. Same price they charged to put it into the street. Now I have a stream of ice across the driveway and running down the street. I'm waiting for the city to come and have a conversation. read more

After getting quotes and references from several contractors, we went with Midwest Basement Systems. They replaced our front porch foundation and replaced a basement window. Santos and his crew were very knowledgeable and worked so efficiently that they were done with everything in just two and a half days. We were amazed! The city building inspector came out several times along the way to give each step of the process their blessing. We have four other basement windows to replace at some point in the future and will definitely call Midwest Basement Systems again. read more

For the most part these guys are pretty good. However, their prices on certain things are a total rip off. Got charged $375 for a Zoeller M98 1/2 hp sump pump when I could have bought one myself for under $200. I called them on it but Rod F gave me the run around. He couldn't even quote me what the labor charge is for the service they performed. It's unfortunate because I've had these guys do a lot of work in my basement...plus I've had them do some poly leveling work on my patio. I have the need for some future concrete work but I'm going to look else where. Their quality of work is pretty good but just be cautious on their pricing. read more

I had the best experience yesterday getting new windows quoted and ordered for my basement. My home was built in 1948 so the basement has some wear. The previous owner did some work to support the walls, add a sump pump and keep water out of the basement. However, there is still some work that needs done, ie new windows and more wall supports. Tom Kinman came out yesterday and was so professional, helpful and honest. The quote was fair and he gave me advice that no other contractor gave me. There are two windows that he recommended blocking out rather than replacing the window. He could have charged me for two new windows but instead told me that the better fix was to remove them completely. Removing two windows was cheaper than it was to replace one. Tom could have made way more money on me but he was honest in what needed to be done. Stand up, guy and company! I signed and ordered on the spot. Can't wait to get the work done. I called and he gave me an estimate of $7000 on the phone. The guy came out and said, Oh it won't be anywhere near $7,000. Then he mailed me an estimate for $11,000. I called and had other companies come out and their bids were only $2500 and $4000 to do the identical job. I recommend that you do not go with this sham company. read more

I had my crawl space encapsulated 4years ago. Had to have service tech come out yesterday. He determined the switch was bad. I asked if switch could be replaced. He said no, I needed new pump for $375. He then took old pump with him. After some research I found out switch can replaced for $30. Also found the pump cost only $215 from many sources on the Internet. They also charged $110 just to come out. I payed over $6,000 for this system and now in just 4.5 years later I owe another $490. I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone getting quotes from this company get a second opinion. I ended up getting a second and third opinion and learned that Midwest definitely tried to screw me. They told me all four of my basement walls needed bracing and it could be an urgent issue. They frightened me by saying that all the walls were bowed 1.5 inches and at 2 inches, I would need to excavate the walls, which costs $30,000 per wall. The consultant knew that I'd just purchased the home so money was tight and also that I was working with a teacher's income, yet he still had zero sympathy in telling me this news. After two other opinions I learned that there is bowing on two of the walls, not four, and it's likely not to be a real issue for years to come and just to keep an eye on any cracking and give them a call when that happens. Midwest's quote was also WAY more than the other two. So yeah, if you want to support a company that clearly tries to take advantage of the lack of knowledge of their customers, then Midwest is the company for you! read more
