I used Threat Scenarios for my initial and a renewal. Great staff and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend their courses above any other others in the area. By far, they are the safest. I have done renewals at other services and did not feel safe at times. I never felt this way with Threat Scenarios. I had the pleasure of taking my teenage son out for private training with Ang the other day. Great day of advanced fundamentals. My son picked it up quick, iron sights and red dots on pistols and rifles, thanks to Ang's style/techniques/drills. I have taken him shooting only a couple times, but it was time he learned how to operate. Ang started him off slowly with safety lessons and proper fundamentals (grip/stance/the mechanics of the firearms), moved him along through some drills while keeping a close eye on safety. He progressed to reload drills, the infamous dot torture, and one handed shooting drills amongst others. He got to shoot paper and steel so he knows how that feedback feels. I brought it all out so he got to sample and choose which firearms he prefers. A couple 9mm carbines and AR15 along with a full size 9mm pistol with irons and a compact 9mm with a dot. Ang led to make it safe, educational, and fun. Time well spent and we plan to do it again this summer. I have had the honor of training with Threat Scenarios on several handfuls of occasions, they always come correct. Every instructor has not only been safety first, but they make it fun because they want you to learn. The instructors' backgrounds allow them to supervise safety while maximizing the most from each student. I highly recommend all of their training classes to sharpen the iron. My husband and I joined a group of friends for a Basic Pistol Class. Neither my husband or I have used a semiautomatic weapon before. But have been thinking of purchasing. It can definitely seem intimidating when you know nothing about firearms and sign up for your first class, but these guys were great!! My friend and I signed up for their women's basic pistol course and not only did we learn a lot, but we left the class feeling much more confident. We learned a lot about safety, the basic components of a gun, safe handling of them, how to operate them and even how to clear them if any of the more common malfunctions occur. One thing I really appreciated was that they had a great instructor to participant ratio for class! So there was often someone looking over your shoulder to make sure you were doing things correctly and to answer any questions you might have. And not just that, but also to catch us so we don't do create bad habits or improper technique. I enjoyed the class so much and loved that the instructors did such a phenomenal job that I brought my two kids (age 11 and 13) to a class, along with some other friends and their kids, too! I'm glad that I'm able to expose my kids and have them learn about safety and proper techniques right from the start. We'll definitely be doing more classes in the future. read more

Although the day was cold and blustery, I had a great experience taking the Basic Pistol course at Threat Scenarios. The range masters were friendly and always there to help or suggest to make your shooting session better. I was not the only woman, so ladies- don't be shy or intimidated! Although I had taken several private classes and been to the range a handful of times, I felt even more confident in "owning" my handgun after this class. I highly recommend this class to the beginner, the curious and I would even take it again with a friend. I don't feel like this class is just for the beginner, I learned a lot about handling and psychology too. Basic Pistol 9/3/2022 Location: Richmond, CA Class: 5 women (4 of us were total noobs), 2 men Staff: 6 AMAZING time today with Ang Claudio and his crew (Ray, Ferdi, Chris, Junior, Ed) at Threat Scenarios. This class is perfect for folks who have 0 experience with guns and even those who have some experience but had no formal (good) instruction. - Sit-down class part of instruction was clear and Ang answered all of our questions patiently; didn't flood us with too much information, just everything we needed to know and what we asked. Any more information might have been overload. They provided each person with a nicely bound copy of the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting to take home. - Pacing of all the shooting practice was great - plenty of breaks at the right times - Plenty of practice of each drill - I felt very confident at the end of each drill - Never felt rushed, was always helped and encouraged; appreciated reminders of the basics when I forgot - Felt very safe with all the crew around watching out for any unsafe practices. They took safety very seriously but never sounded judgmental or exasperated when someone did something wrong - Loved that we started off super close to the paper target and ended with being far from steel targets .. could see how much we had learned. It was very satisfying. - Great teacher to student ratio, it was practically 1:1; couldn't do better anywhere else - Ang was funny, approachable, non judgmental, patient, clear and an overall great teacher !! - Really nice touches: ice cold water available + señorita bread !! (Exact snacks probably depend on the instructor that day?) 10/10 stars - Also, appreciated the availability and cleanliness of the port o potties Such a great experience. I will recommend this to my friends and wouldn't mind doing it again myself. I could've done the class all over again when it ended. Even if someone doesn't have the intention of getting into guns at all, this class was just something really fun to do for a day. Okay ... 2nd course taken with Threat Scenarios today with my son, Miguel, and we had an awesome time ! The guys that facilitated with our 'Next Step-Defense Handgun I' were superb! What can I say? Safety, holster maneuvering, trigger firing, and the taste of what's next -to-come in future classes takes the 'A+ ' in my book! I have to admit I was facing a lot of fear going into the 2 day CCW course before getting my permit. I'm a grandmother in my 60's and had only shot a pistol one time in my life when I was around 10 years old. I had never shot the gun that I used to qualify and I had acquired a lifetime of fear about handling a gun. However, I'm a believer in being prepared for what may be ahead and we live very near cities with an alarming level of lawlessness amidst overwhelmed and understaff law enforcement operations. My reason for taking the course was to do my best to be able to protect myself in the event that it becomes necessary. That core belief as well as weeks of fighting back my fearful thoughts going into the course by telling myself that I would listen, focus, take notes, and do exactly as I was instructed ... that's what I had going into the class. Brian and Wayne and their team of instructors, most of whom were volunteers were the most amazing, professional, detail oriented, and kind team of people that I have met in a long time. Honestly, going into the class, I was fully expecting that the instructor would be a prideful sort of machismo character and I was prepared for someone looking down on me for my lack of skills and experience. What I found instead was that Brian and Wayne and their team repeatedly taught me, demonstrating time and again how to properly handle my gun, how to use the red dot, how to determine which was my dominant eye, how to hold steady, squeeze the trigger and all the rest. I've been a business owner for 41 years in a service oriented company and I value having a great company culture and treating customers with appreciation, gratitude, and respect. Spending a weekend with this team of people in and of itself was an inspiration and I would definitely recommend them highly. I'm excited to go out to the range and spend some Fridays practicing with Brian's people. This is an excellent program to receive an introduction to firearm safety and experience live fire. I recently attended Basic Pistol, a one day session with a couple of hours of classroom work and 4+ hours shooting. Shot over 250 rounds. The instructors were knowledgeable, disciplined and patient with all the participants. There were 12 students and most had little or zero experience with pistol shooting. The training met all my expectations that highlighted extensive live fire. There is a pronounced emphasis on a tactical mindset and this helped frame the context for defensive gun skills. I took a lot of time and deep consideration in whether or not to pursue gun ownership, let along the choice to carry as I have no previous firearm experience and come from a rather anti-gun background. I wanted to find a training course provider which took their responsibility to train me as seriously as I did my choice to purchase a handgun. The team at Threat Scenarios, as well as the team at 29 Outdoor Gear where I purchased my firearm are the best. The student to instructor ratio was superior, every student had someone watching and coaching us to be more proficient, they constantly reminding us of the responsibility of gun ownership, how important practice is and how serious we needed to take our training. I had the pleasure of working with Threat Scenarios for my CCW certification. The owner Jerry, personally gave the class room portion, on the first day. He was so knowledgeable, that I just assumed he was retired law enforcement! I received so much information regarding firearms and the laws regarding conceal carry in an 8 hour period, it was eye opening. The second part of the class, was out door portion and it was very intensive, in a good way. Once again, Jerry the owner was leading the class. The instructors were fabulous. Jerry, Dan, Alan and Michael were very hands on. They made sure everyone was safe and they spent extra time with those, that may have needed a bit more attention and were new to hand guns. You could tell, that they all took pride in what they do and I must say, they are exceptional good at what they do, as well. I got some great tip on shooting that really honed in my accuracy, just like a good golf instructor would do for you. You can tell that Jerry and the whole staff really took the time to plan a curriculum that flowed well, educated you and made you a better hand gun owner at the end of the day.
