The food was plenty full and tasteful. The sauce was good and the chips were good. The only reason why I am leaving a three star is because the pricing.. these days everybody is trying to save a dollar and everything is seemingly more expensive so I chose a less expensive mail. The menu indicated.$14.99. When I receive my bill, I noticed I was charged.$15.99. The server said that it was because I chose a cheese enchilada and it was a dollar more expensive than the beef or the chicken.. given these times when meat is way expensive, I found that hard to believe that cheese is more expensive than that. Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Monday and they were really busy but got me in and out in a hurry. The service was super fast and friendly. The complimentary chips and salsa weee still warm and the chips were thick but had a rapier good flavor. I had the fiesta enchiladas and they were really good. We were in town for a sporting event and looking for a good place to eat. Seeing so many good reviews for this restaurant we decided to give it a try. There were two other couples in the entire restaurant and we were seated in the far back corner where the smell of sewer seemed to be all around us. The place was very dark, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall, and the music was some sort of 1970s Spanish cover bands. We had CCR, the Eagles, and Journey to accompany us with this odd decor. Not necessarily bad, but it wasn't vibing with the atmosphere. The prices were astronomical, especially when we saw what we got. A burrito with shredded cheddar cost somewhere around 14.99. Two tiny enchiladas with some rice and beans cost 13.99. But a MASSIVE appetizer with tons of tasty options cost 15.99. The margaritas tasted of some chemical, perhaps residual detergent? They came in plastic glasses that had burn marks on them and other questionable substances. The ONE saving grace of this experience was the actual food. The food did taste good. We come to this area every year and I can tell you we will not return to this restaurant. For five people we spent nearly $100 for this experience. Great Molcajete!! Good margaritas too... Can't remember what the Mrs had but she says that it was very good as well. The Molcajete has Shrimp, Steak, Chicken, Chorizo as well as mushrooms, cheese, and other assorted spicy stuff!! The only knock on the night was their issues at billing my debit card... They tried over 20 times and got the card blocked. Had to resolve the issue with the Fraud Center and my Credit Union. Still good scores on the food and the rest of the service. read more

Absolutely authentic - absolutely terrific. Full disclosure: we lived in Texas for 18 years and are Mexican Food "snobs". Until we found this gem, we were always a bit disappointed in the Cedar Valley Mexican options. This is the REAL thing. Fresh, hot, FULL of flavor. We are lucky to have a number of great Mexican restaurants in CF/Wloo, but here is the only place you can find Molcajetes, Michaeladas, or dishes like the Amigo Especial, which I highly recommend. Excellent first visit! We will be back! Good food, good service, good prices. Food was out promptly right after we ordered. Order was correct and everything was hot and fresh. The decried beans were obviously homemade. The meat was seasoned perfectly and not too salty. The staff checked on us often, refilled our drinks and chips. The decor is simple. I'm not a fan of carpets in restaurants but in no way would I say the place was dirty. It was well cared for. You can tell they take pride in their service and food. For a combination plate, enchilada plate, kids meal, side of cheese sauce and 3 sodas it was $29. Great deal. Please be cautious going to this restaurant!! Went last night with a friend and the male server was touching my neck and sat down in the booth and started rubbing my leg. I had to physically remove his hand from my leg. He was also pushing us to do shots of tequila. He then allowed 2 of his friends to follow my friend and I downstairs when we went to the restroom and they were asking us to party with them. The fajitas were good but only 3 tortillas and the nachos were horrible the chips were fuzed to the chips not good at all.

First, this isn't a fast food place. The service is good, but it's not like there are five items on the menu, and that's it. As the name indicates, it's a family style Mexican Restaurant, not too far from Rudy's (which is another good Mexican Restaurant, but with a different atmosphere). Came to this restaurant over Labor day weekend. I had the steak fajitas, my wife had the steak quesadilla, and my daughter had chicken tacos. We didn't actually see chicken tacos listed, but my daughter thought they were great. Their menu is pretty broad, so you can probably get whatever you'd like. Serving size was generous, as is typical in most Mexican restaurants. The sodas were huge, and we probably could have gotten refills, but didn't need them. The food tasted great. I personally like to have some refried beans with the rice, and theirs was excellent together. If I remember right, they said there food isn't spicy hot, that if you want it that way, they do serve it with hot sauce on the side. But I was ordering steak fajitas, so didn't really go there for the spices. Overall, a good Mexican restaurant, I'm sure we'll be back. read more
