So many choices! How are you supposed to pick one?? Overwhelmed by choices, I luckily had to choose…read morequickly as some stalls started closing down for the night. I went with a couple of friends for dinner- we were around the area and thought it was an opportune time to show them a place they weren't familiar with! I've been here since I was a kid, and though some things changed, alot hasn't! This was during a world cup game, so it was very lively at pub areas as they were broadcasting live. Everyone was so invested, from the patrons, chefs, servers, and even line cooks! Went to a stall selling the 'best corned beef sandwich' from Magee's kitchen. The servers and cook were super nice and the corned beef on display made my mouth water! It was very good, and paired with their blood orange soda, wasn't too heavy! It was a big enough sandwich that I took the other half home! I also got a cornbread muffin from Gumbo pot- which was good but a little dry. There's plenty of shade, though the area is mostly outdoors- lots of trees and buildings with covers and awnings. There's a fancy French market in there and plenty of eating options (though open hours vary). Come by this historic stop, walk through the Grove, and enjoy the hustle and bustle!

The Bottom Line 4 stars: Unique, historical shopping and dining complex. Huge selection of…read morehigh-quality food, from meat and vegetables to prepared foods to fine dining. A great experience for locals and tourists alike. Location 4 stars: In the Fairfax District area of Los Angeles, to the West of the Grove. It has busy parking lot which is usually quite full. Although some restaurants will validate part of the parking fees, be prepared to pay somewhere between $10 and $56 depending on how long you stay and which stores you visit. Make sure you check the parking rates sign by the entrance and plan accordingly. You can also park in the Grove's multi-story parking structure, but they will not accept validation from Farmer's Market businesses. The Grove also has Valet parking on premises. Venue 4 stars: Nice rustic but well-kept open air set up that has been around for almost 100 years! It is focused on local and international food. As you stroll through the market you will encounter gourmet food stores (such as Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Store), meat counters (such as Huntington Meats), takeout restaurants (such as Stara Polish Pierogi and Sausage, Banana Leaf Singaporean restaurant and Oh My Dumpling Chinese food), and fine dining restaurants (such as ETTORE OSTERIA Italian and Monsieur Marcel French Bistro). Once you are on premises you can use the Grove trolly to visit the (attached) Grove complex.

The Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 8am to 1pm You can park for free for 2 hours in the Civic Center parking garage, enter off Rexford Drive. There has been plenty of parking every time I've gone, but the lower levels get filled up quickly. Just drive up a bit and you'll find a ton of spots. The only negative I can find of this Farmers Market is they need more seating. It's not wild because we always end up walking down the stairs by the police station/parking garage to eat whatever we purchase fresh. However it would be nice if they added some more tables by the live band to enjoy the market fully. That being said - Some highlights of the market: ~Live music! They need more tables and seats around the concert area but it is nice they have the live music. ~Crustee's! I love their pot pies! Highly recommended. ~Berry's Berries is a popular spot! Their strawberry juice is great and I grabbed a $6 bottle every time I've been there. ~Beverly Hills Cookies is great if you want some baked goodies to go. ~Several places sell freshly cut flower bunches for $10~15 which is perfect. I've bought an orchid from one vendor one week and a fresh bouquet another week. ~King's Road Coffee is where I have gotten my morning fix every week. ~Black Cat BBQ has friendly staff and delicious eats! ~Petting Zoo with the most adorable funny looking ducks, baby goats, baby rabbits, baby everything...ahhhhh, it's so darn cute. ~Every 3rd Sunday they have some extra crafting tables for kids.

One time, my friend had a bbq on his rooftop and started cooking up some New York strips and…read moreribeyes. When I ate them, I was like what is this??? This is SOOOO good. Then I had to pry and figure out where he bought them. The first time I looked for the stand, I couldn't find it and gave up. The second time, I figured it out and it's to the right of the second fruit and veggie stand when you walk in (which has really good produce actually). I've bought maybe half of their stuff here. My favorites are as follows: The prime bone in ribeye is the best thing they have here. It's better than A LOT of restaurants. The cow is from California and it's all that special stuff that you want in a quality piece of meat. Next is the veal chop. Then it's the Niman ranch pork chop. After that it's the breakfast sausages, then it's the bacon. The taste on these items are absolutely insane. I think it's one of the things that got me back into cooking, because you can buy a quality restaurant tier pork chop for $12.99 a pound, and you don't have to go drop over $50 (maybe even $60 or $70 now from inflation) for the same type of pork chop at a restaurant. For the non Japanese Wagyu cuts, I personally don't like the flavor as much. But that's a personal preference. Some people love non Japanese Wagyu over prime but I don't. Anyway here's some pictures of the meat. Oh yeah the service is really good and the ambiance is nice because you're at the farmer's market! You can also ask a bunch of questions and they're all pretty much meat experts here.
