Our daughter has been at Three Points Center since last fall. In that time, we have noticed a decent amount of change thanks to the care and concern from the staff of Three Points Center. This place is special- they focus only on adopted kids. They recognize that many adopted kids have attachment issues and need a style of care that is different than other residential treatment centers. For example, they are not penalizing. Each week, we visit our daughter via a Zoom call for family therapy. Our therapist is thoughtful and helpful. We are welcome to visit anytime we want. Every few months Three Points Center offers a "parent weekend" where we get to meet with the staff and learn about how we can help our daughter. The founder, Dr. Norm, is one of the most genuine and neat people I have ever met. Within minutes of talking with him, you can tell his heart is helping these special kids. Adopted kids are special and have special needs. Three Points Center is one one the few places that recognizes this. We need more places like it. read more

i was a student/kid here years ago. the place is horrible. the staff treated us like crap. i was also woken up at 5 am with 2 strangers standing over my bed in my own home with my mom crying outside pretending to care, these strangers told me if i didn't get out of bed and go with them that they would restrain me. that is a traumatic and terrifying experience for a 13 year old child. . do not send your kid too these centers. i was sexually abused by both staff and students and nothing and i mean NOTHING. was done about it. The worst staff i've ever dealt with. GROWN MEN PINNING LITTLE GIRLS INTO THE DIRT FLOOR for restraints. So many injuries all these kids had from being restrained. I threw a PEBBLE at the wall and got pinned to the ground by a supervisor named wyatt. Kindall another supervisor was practically evil. Half the grown adult staff were horrible. and the only staff that was good was the 19/20 year old staff!! This place looks good online with the horses ans stuff. but it's horrible. rod the equine director was amazing. he was the only person helping me hang on. we were fed terribly. if you did a bad thing you'd get meals taken away from you. if you got 3 strikes they'd put kids in a room with no windows no bed nothing just an empty room and you'd sit in there for days. Gosh This whole place got sued and i'm so happy all of us are finally sticking up and speaking out about the abuse. it's hard for me to even talk about this point in my life. the hatred i had for my parents to even give up on me and send me there. that place treated us like it was jail. and the center is all adopted kids. Hi hello i was abused and all kinds of stuff before i was adopted. OFC we are gonna have behavioral issues!! places like this should not exist and i will not say no more on this. i pray you parents don't give up on your children and keep them close. read more

They're terrible to their staff. One would think the students would be bad but no, it's the grown adults who cause issues. The kids are basically ignored half the time and are literally told if they punch a wall or bang their heads on walls, to do it inside on drywall since they "won't get in trouble for it". They genuinely don't care about students or staff other than those who are supervisors. The therapists are horrible and rude. The kitchen staff is the same way. The type of care the girls should be receiving isn't even close to what they actually provide. You're better off bringing your child home and to see a proper therapist instead of spending over 10k a month for whatever this horrible excuse of care is. To sum it up, if you care about yourself or your child, do NOT come here and expect them to help you or your child, you're poorly mistaken. Please just find yourself a different job or take your child to a therapist near where you live. read more

The kids that attend this school come from extremely traumatic adoption backgrounds (Foster Care, International) and are often dangerous to themselves and others. Our daughter has been a resident of TPC for over a year now. She entered the program and had been named as someone that had expected anti-social disorder (sociopathy) by an expert. She is now 16.5 and after many years of dangerous behavior (suicide attempts, self harm, running away, being taken away from home in handcuffs after threatening her mother with a hammer) this is the first time she's been healthy and safe. And after basically missing 3 years of school due to challenges, she's now on track to graduate from High School on time. Our daughter bounced around from multiple programs that weren't able to understand the unique challenges this adoption trauma creates. TPC's ability to handle these needs, that parents can't handle when their kids are literally dangerous, is life-changing. Their help has saved our daughter's life and by being able to trust that our daughter will be in good hands, our marriage has been saved and the health of our other two biological children has been greatly helped. I can't recommend this place enough. I trust them inherently because the change is real. I would testify in Congress about the value of TPC to our family and to my child. read more

My son was restrained repeatedly when he was not a danger to himself or others. The first time was because he was near a door. The last time Thayne Palmer restrained him because he shone a flashlight at him. My son was left with marks that were later reported. He was not the only child there who was left with cuts and bruises by this man. I have guilt for sending my son there. read more

Where is the government to shut this place down! The way situations are handled are completely uncalled for. There is no talking, staff go straight to restraining but I can't blame the staff that is just what they were taught to do. the owners should be embarrassed, just look at all of the accusations and legal issues. This place teaches kids bury their emotions and keep your feelings to themselves. The philosophy of TPC is flawed and you really can't fix this place unless you fix the core issue. Please do not send your children here or any reform. If you love them find an alternative. They change their names but it's the same abusive and mind destroying curriculums. They don't care about your children they just want your money at whatever cost . Please do not let your child grow up to have more trust issues, mental health issues. Finding Three Points Center has been a blessing to my son and family. The situation with my son felt hopeless. The thought of sending him to live at a residential treatment center left us worried and so concerned. Three Points was recommended to us by another RTC that wouldn't accept our son. The fact that they only accept adopted children was a huge plus for us. My fears were immediately calmed after our arrival and meeting the staff...not to mention the serene and lovely environment that Three Points provides. Norm Thibault (owner/CEO) is an amazing, understanding, compassionate human being. He truly cares about our kids and the families. He fights for us. He has worked so hard to create an environment that supports the healing process and the special needs of these kids and their families. I have never felt understood or supported by therapists/psychiatrists/short term hospitalizations ...they all failed my son. With Three Points, it's been different. The environment is not punitive. I have never been concerned that my son would be mistreated. They do not shame these kids when they make mistakes. It's about progress, healing ...not perfection. I know that I can see my son or speak to him at any time. We look forward to the parent weekends to share our experience and hope with other parents and spend quality time with our son. The horsemanship program is an added benefit and has been an invaluable therapeutic tool for my son. While things are not moving at the pace that I would like, my son has made significant progress. Three Points supports the pace my son needs to heal emotionally from all that he has been through. Knowing that he is safe and in such good hands has been so comforting to my family and I. The success stories of other kids/families that I have witnessed gives us hope for reunification with a child who will be able to heal and thrive. I cannot thank Three Points enough for the peace of mind and hope that they have given us. If you are a family of an adopted child, I hope you find the strength and comfort you need. I worked there for 14 months. I have never seen a treatment center take care of not only the needs of their kids, but listen to the staff too. I saw a lot of integrity within the company and the upper management. Christmas bonuses sucked. The pay was average, but you don't go into this type of work for the pay or you don't last long. read more

This place is a joke. If you do your research, Thane Palmer, Norm Thibault, and Garth Lasater all worked at Cross Creek Academy. CCA was shut down in 2012 for abuse. If you go down the rabbit hole while researching- you find all three of these men have abuse allegations against them. The staff members who work there are barely older than the teens. They have staff members as young as 18 and 19 working there. Also, recently a staff member was fired for slapping two of the students across the face. Staff members restrain students for simple things such as talking back, or having a bad attitude. They put you in these awful, painful positions sometimes for hours. Many students end up with rug burns on their faces and their bodies from being restrained. A girl even broke her arm while she was being restrained by a staff member. I highly encourage all parents to look up every single incident report that has been reported. Unfortunately, those incident reports don't start until 2020.The amount of emotional abuse and manipulation that goes on here is terrifying. I've known many students who have not done well after leaving this place. Some kids even get sent back here. staff definitely have favorites, and a former staff member was fired for sexual abuse allegations. if you think your child is safeier, they are not. Listen to the kids who actually went here. Not the parent reviews. Most of us don't speak out about what happened here because no one ever believes us. read more

Parents, we know first hand how difficult it is sending your love one into treatment. It's a painful process for the entire family, but there is a tremendous amount of hope when you get to work with someone as exceptional as Garth Lasater. Garth has an extraordinary ability to connect with youth, young adults and the entire family and thanks to him our family is back to making lasting memories and back to enjoying family life. We were fortunate to work with Garth over this past year and we appreciated the time he spends with parents (because us parents need to do a lot of work on our end to make change as much as our sons and daughters do). That concept may be hard for you to understand at this time, but it's true. Parents don't get to send their children into treatment and not seek treatment or educate themselves - that would just be wasting precious time. You also have to do the work, as it's critical to the healing process and your children will appreciate it because they will see first hand that you have changed for the better. Sounds a little scary, but trust me it's a beautiful process to experience and work through. When it's time for your child to leave treatment, their success depends on the type of treatment plan you have in place when they come home and Garth prepares you for that. He is a forward thinker and listens carefully to what everyone has to say. If we had more practitioners like Garth on the planet then mental health would not be a top issue in the world today. When someone thinks out of the box to assure wellness for others then that's the guy you want on your team. Three Points Center is a great facility that have caring staff that assist in changing lives and families.

The administration, therapists and staff are wonderful. Knowledgeable, caring, and patient with these kids and with their parents that are devastated they have to be separated from their child. Once my child could finally mentally buckle down and do her trauma work, she was home ten weeks later. Afterwards she was a different person. She has been home one month as of today. She is happy, calm, focused, helpful and a pleasure to be around. She wants to protect herself and her future, and is happy to allow us to parent her to keep her safe. Trust the process. It takes sometimes a lot of time. Trust the team there. They will not let your child be there one more day than necessary. If the child is behaving fine, but has not processed the traumas from the past, then it will not be a permanent change for them if you take your child home before the program is completed. This was the hard part for us. My child finally faced her fear of talking about the trauma, processed it in a healthy way, and my child is healed on the inside. Jenn P. Of course I regret the time lost with my child, but I will never regret the results from this program for my child for the rest of her life. The Three Points Center is NOT affiliated with Cross Creek, who previously used this site. It is a totally different program, and run very differently. Families reading other reviews need to disregard their references to Cross Creek's shortcomings as they mislead and are irrelevant. If you listen to the parties who have grudges about unrelated Cross Creek, you will miss an opportunity for your child to experience this unique program that may truly help them. My daughter, who was one of the first student there, has seen amazing results at the Three Points Center, finally, after a previous placement at the South Shore Academy in Indiana was useless. After discharge from South Shore, our child admitted she would have agreed to anything just to get out of there. She says she likes the program, and feels it's helping her BECAUSE it is not at all like a "teen prison". The teens are given reasonable freedoms which don't interfere with their safety. It has been a long journey. She had a unique set of issues, and is a post institutionalized, adopted child. This program at the Three Points center is warm, individualized, supportive. It is not punitive, and allows more non risky personal freedom than many programs. It is not simply a controlled environment with rewards systems and separation from outside issues, as so many such programs ultimately are. They work on the core behaviors as understood and used by our kids. Helps THEM realize their need for change, rather than warehouse them in an environment that retards true internal change. She has emotionally grown so much, has been helped to realize her world view is tainted, has made so much progress. She has much better understanding of herself, and is better able to interact and communicate. The explosiveness is gone. WE have had many weekend visits with her away from the facilit, and she would not hold back on telling us if there was anything going on that made her feel threatened, unsafe or uncomfortable. She feels cared for, comfortable sharing her deepest fears and personal concerns, she enjoys the structure, the animal work, has nearly finished her high school work. They worked with us to arrange her off site ACT testing, and we have a transitional post-secondary life skills plan in process. It is the only program of its kind which we have found, and we are so grateful to have brought our child into the program. It is not a wilderness program, nor free animal labor. The wilderness is there, and beautiful, and our kids get to be out and enjoy it. They do some volunteer work at the animal shelter, they take hikes, and have other outside activities. My daughter received a lot of personal attention and we felt the staff really understood her and cared about her. This program is attuned to the needs of adopted children, and understands things about them that other, non-adoption related programs do not. Approaches which are fine for some children may be damaging to our kids. read more

Jenn P. - Most parents don't choose to put their child in a center. It only happens when all other options are exhausted, including talking, getting help at home, and so many other options. This IS NOT the place it was before. Now on to show my appreciation for Three Points Center: This is a very special thank you to ALL of you at Three Points Center. I could feel from the start that this was the right choice for our daughter. Meeting all of you just confirmed it. How special you all are! It's apparent you love what you do and understand the importance of it. Changing lives is God's work and our child is so blessed to be involved in your program. I prayed, on the way to the center, a very short prayer about parent's weekend. "God I trust that my husband, daughter and I will receive all that you intend for us this weekend." Prayers answered. Our daughter seems to be adjusting, genuinely expressed that she loves and misses us, and she is grateful to be there with you so she can heal. Three Points Center is operated by professionals with much expertise in the arena of RTC's and therapeutic programs. They recognized the disproportionate number of adopted adolescents in these programs and wanted to address the unique needs of theses kids.My 17 year old son is there currently. The philosophy at Three Points Center is that lasting change occurs from the inside out, and that the kids need to feel completely safe in order to step forward and begin to change. Unconditional love is the way that the staff and professionals offer that safety. An amazing place in every way. TPC should not be confused with another program that operated in the past in the same location. Therapy is integrated into all daily activities, as well as individual and family sessions. The equine therapy was my favorite. I highly recommend TPC. read more

I can speak from first hand experience to the care that Norm and his staff give to the kids at Three Points. I went to this facility back in 2000, when it was known as Cross Creek (part of the World Wide Association of Specialty Programs). I was there for 20 months, and the entire time I was there Norm Thibault was my therapist. I had daily group therapy with him as well as individual weekly therapy. It is safe to say that Norm single handedly changed my life. Sure, I did the work, but he guided me and loved and supported me the entire way. Despite Cross Creek being a questionably run program, I graduated and came out a healthy and stronger version of me. I have kept in touch with Norm through the last 15 years and recently went back to visit him last November. I got a chance to tour the facility where he is temporarily housing his own program and literally from the first step inside it felt like an entirely different space. Where I once felt fear and loneliness I now felt warmth and acceptance. The kids there are not bound to a military like schedule. They have freedom to be social, be creative, and most importantly be themselves. If I had gotten the opportunity to go to a program like Three Points back in 2000, I would have no doubt been there for likely a much shorter time, but also have more good, healthy memories associated with my stay. Norm teaches the kids how to make healthy choices, how to thrive in a society where they likely don't feel accepted, and most importantly how to love themselves. I cannot speak highly enough of him and his dedication to helping these kids. Norm has a heart of gold and I feel so fortunate to have had him as my therapist and to still be friends with him. I can only begin to imagine how his teens will feel 15 years from now after attending Three Points. Like me, they likely will have friends, family, a spouse, maybe even kids, who will be incredibly thankful for the 2nd chance that Norm gave them. read more

My name is Michael and I went there and I was abused bad... they made me kneel on rocks on Easter for playing bloody knuckles /devin Thane's son / and had a broken hand and waited 3-4 hours and didn't get even a Advil, I tossed urine in the hall and the staff plotted to take me out of bed in the night and then carpet burned my face in my own urine and I started a riot and the stuff I went through didn't help it's a joke ! I got out and went back to meth to deal with trauma but I eventually had to talk to god when I hit rock bottom and now I'm clean for over a year and a half and what I learned is that my friends are still in there and this place is just for parents money. I'm writing this 2 years later let me remind you. Also Utah is one of the biggest states for bi-sexual teens and they scare you to be straight. That's messed up on so many levels. Every night we heard girls screaming and had my property thrown out of my room because I couldn't sleep so all my boys stayed up with me and they thought "swat should come ", thane Palmer. He also has never answered one of the 6 phone calls w/ voicemails. This goes to show they don't care and any parent that sends their kid here. You make me sick! I've been dragged out of the shower naked for staying in too long over 3 mins . I honestly think all the parents should sue because all these kids know what happened to us and I will never be the same. I'm terrified of going out to eat, using the restroom, the fear is real believe it or not. But I sure didn't become a better person except that I learned from my mistakes by myself no one helped me. This place is a joke with staff asking freshly 18 year olds to sign out and move into their homes and yes it was a female girl who was asked by a male staff that looks like a cantaloupe! This place disgusts me. Don't ruin your children ! Have a mutual respect and stop trying to ditch them because that's how it feels to be abandoned again! My daughter has been at Three Points Center for nearly six months. My experience with TPC has been wonderful! I finally don't feel like I am alone in this journey with my daughter and I know she is safe there. She has had her ups and downs but the staff and therapists have been there for her every step of the way to encourage her. I truly believe it is the therapists, clinical team, and support staff, as well as the program and environment itself that has made all the difference. The fact that TPC that focuses on the unique issues and trauma that adopted kids have makes them the pioneers in serving adopted children. Being a long term treatment has allowed my daughter to be there longer than other, short term treatment centers. That fact has given her time to adjust and begin to trust the people there, which is a very big accomplishment of any child who has experienced trauma. Now, almost six months in, my daughter is making progress towards stability and a future. read more

I don't know why my first review of Three Points Center was unrecommended. If YELP doesn't want to have reviews from individuals who have actually had interaction with Three Points Center, I don't believe they should be allowed to post any reviews about the Center. I wrote a review on the Center because I personally have experience with the Center and the work they do there. Who best to write a review. You are posting a review from someone who has no knowledge of Three Points Center, just knowledge of a business who once occupied the same buildings. Is that fair? Three Points is doing outstanding work with adopted children!! People who look to YELP for reviews should be hearing from people who have personal experience with the place they are reviewing. After seeing what has happened to my review and others who actually know about the business in question makes me not want to trust any review YELP has to offer. I read more
