The ales crafted here are top notch and carbonation is appropriate to allow the malt and hop flavor to come through.

Under NEW Management!…read more I got the hatch queso and wings. The queso was definitely Tostitos and almost cold. However, oh the chips were pretty good and homemade. I got the wings and for 16 dollars I expected way more than 8 wings. Plus didn't have much sauce. 2 dollars a wing is crazy. I will say the beer is worth it! Great atmosphere and great service!

Don't do it! It was…read moreSunday so we called ahead to make sure they were open. We walked into a completely EMPTY bar and the owner said "NINE?!" Wish you would have told me that when you called. The waitress was lovely, shrugged her off and said, "follow me". She seated us and was pleasant through the entire experience. We just ordered two burgers, a few fried appetizers and two bowls of pasta. As the apps were delivered, owner comes back out and says "it's going to be 30 minutes" for those two bowls of pasta. She also added, we have been dead since noon (why do we need to know that?!?!) Well, 1) as the place was still completely empty, please remind me why you couldn't have started the pasta before the apps? 2) cooking pasta only takes 8 minutes - NOT 30. 3) she obviously wasn't happy we were there. 4) half of the apps we ordered weren't available. 5) spinach and artichoke dip is just FLAT OUT disgusting and was served cold. Summary: GREAT waitress. She smiled through it all. If the owner doesn't want to take a party of 9 on a day when she's had zero customers? This place won't be open in 6 months. WORST FOOD EVER. Will never be back. Ambiance? Cold - as we knew the owner didn't want us there.

So I'm not local, but we made the time for this. It made for a great reason for an out-of-the-way,…read morebeautiful Saturday afternoon road trip. If not for seeing the governor tweet about this place, I might not have known. What a shame that would've been. Snugged up against the banks of the Neosho, Riverbank Brewing is bringing solid craft beer and a great gathering destination to small town Kansas. A reclaimed building, replete with broken walls outside, houses a small brewing facility and spacious tasting room. Not a beer drinker? No worries, because Riverbank has you covered for craft cocktails, plenty of wine, and non-alcoholic choices. But if you *are* here for the beer, just know that Riverbank is dabbling in the lab and getting it done RIGHT. I sampled a kölsch called 'Thrill Hills' and picked up an IPA for the Mrs. called 'Kenny Gregory's Vertical'. If ya ain't familiar with Kenny Gregory, look him up. The kid had hops, and so does this beer. I also had a pint of the blonde ale 'Yeah Girl', a wheat-y ale with a strawberry kicker, not too fruity and sensational on the back end. The brewmasters of Riverbank clearly know their way around malt, yeast, & hops and their execution in the tasting room has equal game. There are food options, but it's not a full kitchen. Want to bring your doggo? Riverbank Brewing is dog-friendly inside and out! We loved the opportunity to enjoy a beer on a great day in a great place without having to worry about where to put our dog. Patio seating gives shade for warm weather and heat lamps when it's chilly. It's small town Kansas bringing a big city amenity with all the comfort that Midwestern hospitality is known for!

The space is small but very cool. They have a little flip menu with the history of the space, a nice sized appetizer menu, and most importantly the beer...AWESOME. We got a flight of 5 beers, and the Vienna cream ale was by far my favorite. We wanted to try a few we hadn't had before, and as a huge fan of Kolsch beers, my wife jumped on the chance to try theirs. She loved it and even bought a 6 pack to bring with us. The only beer I didn't love was the Darkth Udder, it had an interesting smoky flavor, but the taster sized glass was more than enough of this choice. All in all, for the small size of the town, I was beyond impressed with the big flavor and refinement the beers presented at Walnut River. Keep up the great work and please send more of your brews to Kansas City!

I was a little worried about bringing in my little toddler, so we didn't stay very long. We stayed just long enough to finish a flight. They had some finger foods that you could order as well. We didn't try any but the chili that someone else ordered smelled really good! When I'm back in that area I wouldn't mind stopping in again.
