Update 11.16.2022 - I want to reiterate we loved their work but again their communication is just…read morenot great. Here is an example of it; after I wrote my review here is how (text messages) he approached me. Attacking a customers character is never good First off I have to say the work and speed that their crew delivered was great. We love everything that they did for us. We had a number of requests for them to: 1. Build a deck near our pool with cover 2. Replace our fencing to hide the pool equipment 3. New fence towards the back of our property In the photos you can see how great it turned out. Now where they lost their stars is in communication and dealing with conflicts. 1st issue - We had a dumpster provided that they subcontracted and had a number of issues. James gave my husband the phone number to contact dumpster company and "deal with the issue". As a customer all issues pertaining to a subcontractor that THEY hired should have been handled by them and not us. 2nd issue - some of the fence posts they installed warped and we asked for them to come repair. We had to text and call about 10 times! We were given dates that someone would show up and then no one showed up and no communication about 5 times. Continuous calling and text had to occur with the same result. Then random out of the blue one day someone showed up to fix the fence and once again no communication to inform us they were coming nor after to check how the repair went. This process was extremely frustrating and clear that dealing with conflicts isn't their forte.

If after coming out they decided that they didn't want my business I would've thought the professional thing to do would to just say thanks for the inquiry but this is a project we're not able or willing to do. I've also noticed that it seems when someone gives him a negative review he can't find their information. Just based on his responses if I were a customer considering this company I'd reconsider after looking at his responses doesn't take responsibility for his actions.

While there are aspects of the project that we feel they did a good job with (mainly the pergola), we feel it's important to warn other potential customers of the issues we have experienced working with them. First, this company uses subcontractors, and unfortunately, many times they didn't show up at all to perform the work they were scheduled to do or performed the work incorrectly. This led to significant delays throughout the project and was extremely frustrating. It put us in the position of constantly following up to ensure the work was done and done right. As an example, the concrete steps we asked them to build were initially very narrow and a safety hazard. We asked them to correct that. Our pergola was not built correctly according to the design, and we had to ask them to correct that as well. The railings around the patio were installed incorrectly, and again we had to ask them to correct this. We understood that the stain of the existing patio may never perfectly match the new concrete patio but the colors are not even close. Dominic was our main point of contact with Freedom and was apologetic every time this occurred (which was frequently) and let us know the excuses the subcontractors provided. They did make these corrections, but what I'm not sure Dominic (and Allen) with Freedom understand is that this is absolutely a reflection on their company when they hire subcontractors that either unreliable, incompetent, just "don't care," or all of the above. Unfortunately, they had already stained our concrete steps so when they did fix the prior sloppy work, the stain didn't match the remaining patio. The biggest complaint that we have with them is that once the entire project was complete (in April 2023), within a month the concrete overlay that they had put on our patio to match the extended patio we built (which it never did) started to deteriorate in a section of the patio. (We now know from speaking with others who have knowledge of concrete work that this overlay was not installed correctly from the beginning). We immediately informed them of the issue and 3 months later (after repeated texts) they repaired the section of damaged overlay without restaining. In other words, we had a large white patch of concrete on our brown stained patio for another 2-3 months. Again, after repeated texts and excuses, they finally let us know they would be sending someone out to stain the patched area of concrete. We had asked them to ensure that the patched area matched the remaining concrete and asked them to fix the issue with the entire patio being multiple different shades of stain. To this they asked us to either pay $3800 to correct the poor staining all done on our patio by THEIR contractors or only stain the patched area of concrete for free. We absolutely refuse to pay Freedom more for THEIR work that was not done right to begin with and agreed for them to only stain the patched area (with the expectation that it would, at least, match the existing patio). Of course, it doesn't and looks awful. I included a picture here so you can see how bad this looks. We are now left with a concrete patio that is 4 different shades of brown and is an eyesore. We have texted Allen and Dominic multiple times to ask that they do the right thing and restain our patio so that all of THEIR work is one color. What is very disappointing is they are not even responding to us anymore. There is no sense of wanting to do the right thing for their customer or even taking pride in the work they are doing. It is very disheartening that after trying to be understanding with them throughout all the delays/failures in the project once they got their money they really didn't seem to care. Allan/Dominic/Freedom Outdoor Living, if you are reading this and would like to correct your staining work on our patio and make this right, we would gladly welcome it and be happy to amend this review.

How good is this company - well our deck that they built was 4 years ago was just ripped out and…read morereplaced! It was always a shoddy, unattractive job but multiple construction defects lead to us having to rip it out and more became apparent during our new deck construction. We paid $12k to them ( this did include a roof which is still there after the beams that hold it up were replaced and finally secured to the ground with concrete and steel which they had failed to do! To be fair our contractor says they used good cedar! That at earns one star. Our HOA requires approval - they said it was approved - it wasn't leaving us in a long term battle. I will take responsibility for this as I should have waited for communication myself from the home owners and not trusted them! The job was shoddy at best, we constantly had to follow up with them to get the work finished, it took weeks and they were still coming back a year later to address issues ( my new deck that someone else built is beautiful, properly finished and was done in 4 days including tear down ) Edges were left rough and unfinished, they winged it with pieces of wood added on to 'complete ' the work which looked awful. They had to come back less than a year later to replace finishing touches around an engineered beam ( which we have subsequently learned is - safe - but the posts that support it were not properly secured. The planks were screwed down so tightly that multiple boards split - which to be fair they did replace - but over the years this has caused additional splitting so we had to replace them anyways ( and they have been sealed and stained since it was built ) so we just decided to rip out the whole thing !! The boards were also so tight together that water pooled on the deck each time it rained which never happened with our original deck, we subsequently learned that the front of the deck was 2.5 inches higher than the back which caused water to flow towards the house. And they told us they"would eventually shrink to allow water through - they did not so we lived with puddles. The flashing job was awful and we had to have someone else to finish it ( it still never looked great) ; it looks like it's been there for 20 years - see pics. The flashing should have been installed under stucco not attached to the top We had to have someone else complete the staining it as their job was poor. So both that and the flashing issues cost more money ! The gutter comes out under the deck so water pooled and sat under it which is a terrible idea leading to rot. Water directed to below the deck and boards so tight led to the perfect storm and rot ! Our new contractor had to diver the flow . It just looked awful and always had! When we compare one new deck to the own they built - it is night and day. We have perfect edges, no random gaps, no weird pieces of wood tacked on. Yes I had to pay to remove their rubbish, but Lesson lesson learned. I have a deck I am happy with finally and it was not from Diamond Decks

Think twice before hiring this company. This review is based on how we were treated by the owner…read moreDonnie Ferguson. We hired Diamond Decks to install a patio cover in our backyard. The cover is beautiful. The material matches the house and the craftmanship of the fireplace, roof and woodwork are exactly what we wanted. Here's where it all went wrong. The last job was to stain the concrete both existing and the new walkway we had them install. The crew did not power wash the 10-year-old concrete before staining. We contacted the project manager right away and asked why they were not power washing and he said the crew didn't think it needed power washed. Ten years of dirt and they didn't think it needed power washed? Prior to staining, the crew put samples of the color on the concrete and asked for approval of the color. They didn't wait for the stain to dry but had us sign off on the color while it was wet. The certificate we signed says "Do not sign this certificate until all services have been satisfactorily performed and material supplied or goods received and found satisfactory." Despite this warning they had us sign the certificate prior to the stain and seal being applied. Let me also point out that no one asked us what we wanted the stain to look like or guided us in any way to get the look we wanted. The stain looked nothing like we wanted so they came back and applied another color and seal and made it worse. We reached out to Donnie and let him know we were not happy with the stain. His resolution was to charge us another $10,000 to do an overlay on the two patios and then apply another stain. Donnie believed it was the old concrete that was the problem and thought we needed an overlay. We received quotes from two other companies to fix the stain. Neither company thought we needed an overlay. Instead they would remove the seal and stain and reapply the color we wanted. We again reached out to Donnie and respectfully asked for a reduction in our final payment of $7500 to fix the concrete stain. This was his reply: Absolutely not. We are experts and what we do and the color selection you picked does not need multiple coats. I do not care who you are getting your false information from. And you cannot remove foot print and terrible texture work that is in the concrete work we did not pour. The imperfections would be difficult for anyone to see because they are enhanced once the color and sealer are applied. This has one of the best sealer you can use and this is specifically why the form says DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM Unless you approve the color. It's not an easy product to strip off hence the reason it last much longer and that's why we use it. The balance owed is now past due $41628. I will need payment in full by the end of day or I will need to notify the attorneys that the contract breach is made. You've signed all the paperwork we asked of you and now you wanna insult us by telling us you want us to refund money cause you don't like what you selected. This is the owner of the company, threatening, insulting and hostile. We of course were not in breach of contract and he knew it. They had just completed the work seven days ago. Again, think twice about hiring this company. They showed a total lack of concern about our dissatisfaction and blaming us for the results of the concrete stain. I will say that Casey, the project manager, was always professional and showed empathy for our concerns.
