Not knowing one company from another, I took a shot in the dark and went with Orcas Island Shuttle. I don't know what the others are like, but I have to guess these guys are the best. I think the lady I spoke to was Amy. She was very helpful and efficient and I could tell just by speaking to her on the phone that she took pride in her business. She arranged to have the car at the dock where we arrived on the seaplane and everything was exactly as described. They even had granola bars and bottled water in the car for us. If only more businesses knew how much difference the little touches make. The rate was reasonable and the car was clean and sufficient for our needs. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend them.

Yes includes tax too (not including gas or insurance of course) That's about $80 a day which was soo much cheaper than Avis! They wanted $287 a day for a Jeep outrageous! Routes said I needed to leave a $500 security deposit which is fine, instead they secretly charged the deposit and total fee, so I basically paid in advance for the rental. Its a 10min shuttle ride from the airport, although service wasn't slow but we got stuck behind 2 customers who wanted to chat with the service agents, and wasted 15min of their time only to walk away at the end. People, either book online (like I did) or pay the fee and get a car while youre there and don't waste everyone's time. Inexpensive rates! Brand new cars!

The first time I called I think I spoke to Doug (I was in a panic), even though he couldn't get me a car he was so helpful and friendly, offering info for other ways to try to remedy our situation. I ended up calling back because he had mentioned having a car for part of the days and I fugured it was better than nothing. This time I spoke with Megan who was also super friendly and helpful. She said, hang on I think I can make something happen for you. She got a car for the whole trip! Secondly, the whole process is a breeze! You pay ahead and get a confirmation email with all the info you could need, a map to get from the ferry to your vehicle (a very short walk), and a code to get in the car. They even have a sticky note with your name on the window. No waiting around in line, signing a bunch of stuff, like a corporate rental company. When you drop it off you just fill it up and leave it where you found it. I don't know if all the vehicles are like this but it was a hybrid so spent barely any money on gas! Would recommend them a million times over!

Our driver arrived in less than 10 minutes. Of course, the shuttle is free. Both check-in and check-out are fast and painless. Our vehicle was ready as soon as we entered the facility. We were in and out in roughly 3 minutes. Outstanding! Just as important, we were charged exactly what was quoted, unlike Hertz (in Calgary), which charged close to $100 more than quoted.

A great day in Victoria, we returned to the office with a full tank of gas, Tom was there waiting for us as planned, and drove us back to Swartz to walk straight on to the ferry in lots of time for our return sailing.
