I don't care what any of the other reviews say -- Dr. Tu Thuc genuinely changed my life. I'd been dealing with back issues that slowly built up over six months, and my previous primary care doctor wasn't helping at all. I felt like I was screaming and no one could hear me. I finally gave up and switched to Dr. Tu Thuc, and it was the best decision I could've made. He actually sat with me, listened to what I was saying, and helped me figure out what I needed. After months of getting nowhere, he guided me to the right tests and the right care. Because of him, I finally got answers, started physical therapy, and I'm now getting better. Dr Thuc Tu is nice. He is not 100% knowledgeable for newly-discovered conditions and method of treatment, he's kind of old school. But he will listen to all your concerns and promptly give referrals and request you have. That, I really really appreciate. 4-5 hours waiting even you have an appointment. Patients are sick enough even worse when you have to wait that long. The doctor should try to wait for 4-5 hours sitting in a small room with a lot of sick people coughing on your face. The Doctor should stop accept new patients even with existing patients you can't handle. read more

I went in for my first visit and felt like I stepped back in time. The place is outdated but the professionals know what they're doing. They do have an old school method going on, but "don't fix what ain't broke." I would suggest making an appointment as opposed to walk ins because this is a small office and can get backed up quickly. Also, bring cash or a check book because they do not accept cards. I however, walked in because I left a message (before they opened) to schedule an appointment for the same day. A few hours later i received a call from Dr. Tu himself, telling me just to come in. I was lucky enough that they took me in. Didn't have to wait too long to be seen (20 min. Which is average since you have to fill out paper work). I was greeted by the medical assistant, Melinda. She was very friendly with a huge smile. Did a few initial assessments and let me know it would be a few more minutes for me to be seen. Although I didn't see the actual doctor, I was seen by Tiffany the NP. very charismatic and spunky little woman. We had a good chat as she did my initial check up. (I was there to get a referral for an X-ray since my insurance sucks). They unfortunately do not do X-rays in house and would need to send an authorization which can take up to a week, or weeks depending on what kind of health plan you have. I will continue coming here just because of the amazing staff. read more

The staff is straight up incompetent in their jobs. Doesn't acknowledge their mistakes and takes forever to to send referrals. Even when they give you a referral it generally for the wrong place and reason. The staff is terrible and always answers with a "I don't know". They rarely pick up the phone. They are rude and untrustworthy. They will typically lie stating that your prescription is ready to pick up, but the pharmacist states it was never sent. No need for appointment because it will still take an hour for the doctor to see you regardless of your appointment time. They are irresponsible and are unable to provide proper care or basic care. We requested to see the doctor multiple time for emergency meeting, but front office always refuse. This is not a doctor office, this is a circus. By the way, we are still waiting for the "RIGHT" referral to see a specialist and it has been over 3 months. read more

Been seeing Dr Tu for about 4 years now. My insurance has changed over the years but I always find a way to see Dr Tu because he is the best. His staff is friendly and attentive. Dr Tu always takes the time necessary to review with me exactly what's going on. I have Gastroparesis and had to go to the ER often . The ER Dr's never knew how to help me. Always hit and miss agony. Dr. Tu is wonderful! Everytime I come in, he's always been very attentive & communicative. He asks questions to make sure he understands whatever your health issues are & seems to be very concerned & caring about his patients. The times I haven't been able to make an appointment or needed a refill on my prescription, he's been understanding & helpful. Great doctor & even though his specialty is internal medicine & not necessarily neurology (I have a seizure disorder), he seems to be right up there with knowing the right questions to ask. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR! STAY AWAY!!! This place has got to be costing people their lives and making them more sick then they are!!!!! My senior mother has been though the ringer with these people. First off: THEY DONT USE COMPUTERS! Therefore, they never know what's going on. They never know when their appointments are, they never know when referrals have been approved, they didn't even know my mom had SURGERY TWO DAYS PRIOR and called her to have her go get ANOTHER X-ray that she ALREADY GOT for her surgery SHE ALREADY HAD. The receptionist has no clue what's she's doing. They have PILES of paperwork because the don't file anything. Secondly: They are straight RUDE. Whenever my mom calls to ask a question the lady is extremely rude and doesn't ever answer the questions. She has no customer service etiquette. When dealing with people who are living with or who possibly be living with life altering situations you need to have some sort of compassion. The lady literally yelled at my mom for asking when her referral was going to be ready cause she was having surgery in ONE DAY. DO NOT GO HERE. I'm warning everyone. Dr. Tu has been pretty friendly each time I've seen him. However, like the other reviewers said, his staff are awful. I had a simple x-ray test done at another place a few weeks ago and the lab I got it done at said they faxed the results to Dr. Tu's office the very next day. I had to call his office 5+ times over the past few weeks, and one of the staff members who answered the phone each time (I'm pretty sure she's the chubby one with the thick accent) kept saying "oh yeahhh we'll call you later". She always came across as completely uninterested in helping out, never apologized, and was disrespectful. When I called again and they said they got my results, another nurse practitioner spoke to me and also didn't bother to apologize or care that I had waited a few weeks to hear about the results of a simple test that took 1 day to get the results I'll be seeing a new doctor from now on, and I can't recommend anyone dealing with his atrocious staff read more

Worse experience in Dr care their receptionist is rude you wait 2 1/2 hours to see Dr so your stuck seeing a P.A. that doesn't under stand your concerns I had lab work done they called me to let me know of my A1C but forgot about my thyroid was very high months later I became ill and came to see dr but discuss with P.A she told me stop taking meds too high dose Dr will prescribe lower dose meanwhile I did another lab work and told me thyroid too low P.A tried to blame me for drop when I didn't get correct dose of meds in timely manner I called for referrals to specialist which expired and office doesn't want to give Kim msg 4th call they said they would 5th call Dr Tu was going to give her msg and forgot. Kim says they are very busy. Blaming my ins but lied abt it if they cannot take care of pts they need to stop accepting new pt or many of his pts may not have ins. they are jeopardizing my life. I've been going here for a while and I love it he's always been there for me like a doctor should and yeah people say hole in the wall but it's really not when it comes to care!!!!! I took the time to write a review for him cause the people who say bad things about him and how good of a doctor he truly is ..... You must be stuck up and if they want high end care for the look of the place then go to Laguna Beach or somewhere else more to your taste. They do clean it's just not up to date! I have had only good experiences with DR.TU and his staff. I have previously been assigned to about 10 different Doctors in orange county for a chronic problem. I am missing 3 organs and recently diagnosed with a livable form of lung disease. My previous doctors didn't know what to do with me and distanced themselves from me. Dr.TU and his staff have made my life manageable and continue to better my situation weekly. I have been to UCLA specialist as well as some of the top performers in OC, and I can say with confidence I would bring my sick child to first Dr.TU (unless an emergency go to ER) because of he will make it right and follow you through to the end. read more

Dr Thuc was very helpful and calls back/ answers the phone almost every time. The front desk on the other hand doesn't communicate at all and tells you that you can walk in and then doesn't call you back when you get there even tho there's no one at the office. The ONLY thing good about this office is Dr. Tu. He listens to you and is proactive when managing your health care. The office itself is nasty looking and is dirty I didn't want to touch anything. If you are lucky, you will get in and out in an hour. Otherwise, you are looking at 1-2 hrs wait... RIDICULOUS! The ladies in the office are not fluent in English. They misunderstand me ALL the time and I can barely make out what they are saying. They are slow and they do everything half assed. I moved away recently and called to get my Medical records for my new Dr. I was told that "It was the Dr. policy to not release medical information to patients because they didn't know if it was really me requesting documents." I let them know they can ask me any identifying questions and it that was against regulations set forth by the Medical Board and they cannot deny me my medical records. THEY ARE MINE, NOT THEIRS! Stupid idiots probably didn't even know what I was saying. Oh and to top it off, she hung up on me and wouldn't answer the phone for 20 mins when all I needed was the fax number. Totally unprofessional and a waste of my time to even try and do business with them.
