My 5 year old daughter is taking the tumbling class and she really loves it! She goes every practice running and always happy when she gets out. Sue also loves getting encouragement notes after the class. The coaches are helpful and very friendly. We celebrated both of my kids birthdays: a ninja and a nerf party. Both were very organized and all the kids had a blast. It is so convenient to bring our own food/snacks/cake, I really dislike when a place requires us to purchase from them. Let's revisit what you've done here: 1. admitted to leaving the children without supervision which got my child injured. 2. the responses to the three instances of injury were to not contact us, even when physical damage to her was visible, to "go drink water and get back to practice," and to try to free yourself from accountability of a duty of care to the children. 3. You billed two different cards without proper authorization for either. 4. You attempt to make yourself sound like you've handled the situation but in fact have blamed it on my child. 5. "You would never intentionally reveal any personal information" Except you did, intentionally. 6. Learn what transparency means, it does not mean, I intended to tell you. If I could give this a zero star rating I would. Do not send your kids to this gym. They do not care about their athletes unless they are on the elite team. Their communication is terrible and coaches are mean to the kids. The director of fun does not handle issues with parents. If you give any feedback your kiddo gets kicked off the team. read more

I came back to say hey cause I saw a few people do that before when I still went to the gym. But when I went, the owners greeted me with a bit of rudeness. My old coaches still greeted me with kindness and joy just like when I went to the gym but the owners didn't. I did have a few "talks" with one of the coaches about different things which wasn't that nice. I remember when I was trying a skill on the floor, she yelled at me to do it again because I was in a class and the teacher watched too. And she said don't try anything unless permission to. I guess that coach doesn't want anyone to try anything... I still like my old coaches: Vanessa and Sabrina, Jocelyn should be mentioned too. These three were always great! Awesome gym and awesome people!! There are so many gyms to choose from and I've tried a few of them out and really stuck with this one. It feels like home and everyone is always very supportive emotionally which is a HUGE plus for me. Thunder Elite has been a game changer for my daughter. After the pandemic, she was in a funk, her self esteem was low and as a parent it was so hard to watch. She decided to try cheer classes in November of 2021and started going to once a week classes. She was almost 13, so she was a little late to get started, and despite that she had to start with some kids that were a lot younger than her, the coaches gave her things to do at home to improve her skills. She kept at it and by spring tried out for a prep team and that is when the real magic started. She is a completely different kid. At first she struggled with not being able to do certain skills, but Jessica helped her understand that it's all practice-you're winning or your learning and failure is part of the process. Over the year, I have watched her go from nervous and having a low tolerance for failure to being so, so confidant, building skills, accomplishing things she didn't think she could do and truly understanding what it means to be a member of a team. My daughter has been here for over a year. We had one bad experience - but I spoke with David and he was great. Took care of the issue and we haven't had any troubles since. We never really had any "issues" - just another coach that didn't understand the emotions of a 6 year old drama queen. My only concern is that we have been here for a year and my daughter doesn't seem to be progressing. Not really a problem - just wish she was able to do more. I am happy with the speed and steps they take to teach our children. I have more of an issue with the caddy mom's who can be heard throughout the lobby/seating area. But that isn't the gyms fault!!! read more

My daughter just started her third session of Princess Training tumbling at Thunder and is having a great time. She likes her teachers very much and her coordination and body control has improved greatly. The teachers walk each child through the moves and support their bodies as necessary while they learn. She really enjoys the days when they do a mini-routine at the end to a song (such as Frozen) or get to use the pom poms. The teachers wear tiaras and seem to be having a great time with the little ones. Registration was easy and the communication via e-mail is often and clearly done. I have not seen any behavior by the other students or teachers that was anything but positive. We will continue to go here as long as our daughter wants to pursue tumbling. read more

I can't say enough about the positive experience my daughter and I have had at Thunder Elite Cheerleading gym. I am not sure what chip the previous reviewer had on her shoulders, but I have never seen the current gym owners, David and Candy, be anything but encouraging and supportive to the kids, coaches and families. The coaches are positive, encouraging and extremely skilled. My daughter has been there for almost a year and not only has she achieved many new skills, she has grown by leaps and bounds as a person and an athlete. She is always happy to go to practice and she loves her coaches and gym. My 4 year old daughter just started a tumbling class here and she is really enjoying it. I was impressed by how clean the gym is. I also love how active they keep the kids. The class is 50 minutes and they have them on the move the whole time. The girls teaching the class seem really sweet. I found the cost of the class to be very reasonable, especially compared to other activities we've signed up for. There is a parent observation room with stadium seating and it's dark and quiet and everyone kind of keeps to themselves or quietly chats. I've only talked to a few other moms briefly, but it seems like a nice group. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because we're new to gymnastics and I would like to observe a few minutes in the actual gym just to see what they're doing (it can be kind of hard to tell through the observation glass) but ultimately I'm really happy we chose this gym and signed up for this class! read more

I'll admit my experience was a limited one, but even so, it couldn't have been much worse. Here's what happened: My 7 year old granddaughter attended an all-day practice session at Thunder Elite. I was picking her up at the end, and her mom suggested I come a few hours early so I could watch her work (my favorite activity!) When I got there I could dimly observe the class through the observation glass. There were three adults lounging on a cushion, barking orders to the girls. Seriously, lounging. The class repeated a small portion of a cheer many times, which seemed like a good thing. But then the action stopped. At that point I was discovered and asked to leave! Observers were not allowed! Since I had nowhere to go, I sat outside the building. I went back in to peek, and saw the three teachers now reclining on the mat. The teacher in charge was working with two or three girls (while lying on her back) while the rest of the class just did their own thing. My granddaughter was unsupervised, doing handstands against the wall. Other girls were following her lead. I looked at the two other adults reclining on the mat and thought "Why don't they get up and work with the rest of the girls?" I was aware of the huge amount of money being spent for the day, and felt that it was being wasted-my granddaughter and the majority of the other girls were receiving no instruction. I decided to stay and keep observing. For the rest of the time (2 more hours) it didn't change. At one point my granddaughter went over to the teacher reclining on her back, and asked her if someone could "spot" her in a back spring. No one got up to help. She went back to the wall. No wonder they don't want observers! In addition, my daughter in law felt that many important decisions were made with no communication to parents. When she complained about this, she was met with shrugs. For the money Thunder Elite is charging, they should be bending over backwards to make sure all are included. My granddaughter now attends a better cheerleading organization in Gresham, and everyone is much happier! read more

I find it rather curious that the only reviews on this site are old and awful. All 3 of my children attended Thunder and my children had good days and some difficult days over the course of 4 years. Candy Skaw loves everybody's children. Some may confuse rudeness with professionalism. As a long time parent of gymnastics team then all star cheer it is so difficult to keep all parents happy. I have found particularly in cheer that it's not the children that are jelious and petty but the parents. In my very lengthy experience I feel the staff and owners of Thunder Elite are committed, encouraging and support their kids to strive and thrive. A REAL GEM!!! Something very SPECIAL. Our daughter has done gymnastics for 3 years and learned more skills in one month at Thunder Elite. We have been there for a while now so it's with good knowledge that I write this review. The coaches are amazing with the kids. Our daughter is shy and has blossomed especially when she enters her now second home. Every single time she sees a coach she is greeted with a hug. Usually, it is the children tackling the coaches, they just cannot wait to see them. My son now takes classes and is having a BLAST! The owners Candy an David are incredibly kind. Quick to put out fires and move on. I feel like Our kids are in a SAFE place. Their needs are being met individually. As far as competitiveness? At the show we just attended we received 5 first place' and 2 grand champions. One second place. That speaks for itself. The coaches have also done a great job teaching integrity and humbleness. *This is a key factor for me* The staff at Thunder has a real talent with children and CHEER that has blossomed into these children. I see a lot of smiles. We have been welcomed by EVERY single person. It truly feels like a family. My review was not at request. My child has been an athlete at this gym for 5 years, and I can say without question this has been the most amazing gym for us. Not every cheer gym is a good fit for everyone, but we really lucked out when we came to Thunder. Yes, our first year was a little rough but there were a few extenuating circumstances that, once I sat down with the owners and program director, were resolved immediately. They do truly put the children's safety and enjoyment first, and value each and every kid that comes through their doors. It doesn't matter the age, skill level or type of program at the gym a child is in, they are all treated as equally amazing. I have also found the owners, program director and coaches to be available and open to talk to with any concerns or questions, and have no doubt that they have our children's welfare as their top priority. With the pandemic, they have bent over backwards to make their gym an even safer place to be, installing all the Covid protocols needed (a few of which were in place before this started), and have done everything in their power to make the best out of this difficult situation and keep their doors open so that these children have a place to go. If you are looking for an all star cheer program for your child, I would definitely recommend giving this program a look! read more

The only positive thing I can say about this gym is that Tara and her coaches are wonderful. With that said there is also another owner and his wife that made our experience just horrible! They are rude to children and parents. If your child isn't one that is their favorite best believe your child will get moved to place a child they like there. They don't deal with discipline problems. I know they win but if I were you I won't take my child here unless it was just Tara running it! read more

Where to start. David, is the owner and very cruel if you ask me. But that's not the worst part, tara is the most terrible person alive. She will kick any girl off a team just for standing up for themselves. Or if another girl on the teams feels a certain way and they go to Tara first then that poor girl is out of luck and kicked off. She shares information with the team about the girls getting kicked off and tells the team why and what happened. Which is not okay. OCHS made a terrible choice by having this company be incharge of the cheer team. The school had to get rid of them because of the here say scandals of Tara selling the girls sex toys. And her kicking girls off of the teams for no reason, and taking their money with no refund. Might be an ok place if ur just going for some classes but not for anything but else. Way to much drama to deal with just for cheerleading. There are wonderful coaches out there, not here. Unless you want to get involved with their drama. Be prepared to spend a fortune for nothing. Things might start out nice, the second you have a problem is when you loose All respect for them. And it would be wise for the owners to try and fix the problems them commenting back saying negative things to the people who had a bad experience. Do you u want to go to a place that treats people with a bad experience like this? Go look at the other comments and the return comments they leave. Very unprofessional. When I first started cheering at Thunder I was very young and didn't notice how bad some of the staff was. A few years into me cheering my lovely parents bought the gym. Without them there wouldn't be a gym for me and everyone I have grown up with to go to. I have watched both of them not only change my life but also the kids I have cheered with lives they are there for every kid no matter what. I am now all grown up and working there and they have changed the ways of everything. Coaches including myself love everyone parents and children. If you want to find good instructors who are gonna teach your kids something this is the place to go. You may think I'm just saying this because this is where I love to be and have grown up it's not I want people to find the best place for their children to be and that's at Thunder. My daughter is excelling and enjoying herself. The coaches are good about giving each person attention. Teams win. Affordable.

When we first began with Thunder Elite the experience was positive, because of the coaching. As the year went on We began to notice the posturing of one of the owners cutting down and belittling his business partner. Coaches were fired if they didn't go along with his vision. The other owner was run out of the business she started by the bullying, lies and manipulations of the other owners. Parents were talked about if they had a backbone and stood up to them. Quickly became a very toxic environment. They paint a picture of being their for the kids, but had the nerve to stand in front of my kids team after winning a bid to worlds and saying, you know you don't have a chance to win. I am appalled and sickened. We have been in this sport for 10 years with other gyms and never once have encountered this. We have chose to leave and never return. Not to mention along with 17 of their level 5 teams teammates. We have all chose to go to another program across town and remain together as a team at another gym. Not a good spot for anyone child or adult. read more
