During our stay at the Universal Orlando resort in December 2024, we visited Thunder Falls Terrace for lunch. I'm a fan of Jurassic Park and so is my dad, so this seemed like a fun location to stop by as the ambiance reminds me of the movie franchise. Though we usually don't enjoy the cafeteria style dining as prefer table service, this was still a great location. Tons of natural light, and I liked our view of the end of the Jurassic Park ride, classic! At first I was confused because there were employees standing right by the doors, thought they were hosts, but they were just talking to each other. While blocking the door. That wasn't great. It's more a cafeteria ordering style. Though I really wish the menu font was bigger. It was behind the counter so you could only get so close and it was hard to see it. Our cashier and the chef were wonderful though. I let them know I was allergic to raw onions (but cooked is fine. Heat breaks down the allergen) and they made sure I'd be safe. I decided to have the roasted pork and cheese nachos combo just from looking at the photo of the food, it looked pretty good but once I got it, i noticed that the guacamole looked a little bit brown-ish as well as something in the food tasted a bit bitter, almost had like a soapy aftertaste. This is good for what it is: theme park indoor dining. My family of two adults and twin children split two entrees (ribs and chicken) with milkshakes. The milkshakes are very much of the quality of 1990s buffet restaurants. Kind of grainy. Kids liked it. We all thought the ribs were ok but the chicken was better. Potatoes were a hit, but some didn't like the corn seasoning. Prices were high but not unreasonable for a theme park. Took about ten minutes to get our food on a fairly crowded Saturday. I decided to stop by Thunder Falls Terrace for something cold and sweet. I went in and got in line. They usually take your order and bring it to you at the table that's given to you. The tables are numbered and I guess that's how they know where to take the order. I ordered the vanilla milkshake. After they made it my husband asked if we could just take it and sit. No need for the extra step of having someone else bring it to us after we sit down and they were fine with it. I'm not sure if they would have agreed if there were more people in the restaurant but luckily they were cool with it. The restaurant is a large open space and it's air conditioned which feels good when you are walking around in the heat. The vanilla milkshake was really good. It was cold and sweet. Overall I'd recommend this place as a decent place to grab a quick sweet. They have lots of food options, sweets and drinks available to purchase for a regular price. 3 1/2 stars. Thunder Falls Terrace was one of the better casual theme park restaurants I have been to. The place is large with plenty of seating. Even in a fairly busy day there was no wait. The food is provided cafeteria style. There are two sides with the same food and the line moves quickly. It is nice to have a fast food type of place with offerings other than burgers, hot dogs, and fried food. Husband and 15 year old ordered the rotisserie chicken and ribs combo. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The ribs are not "fall of the bone" but they were tasty. Since it was Thanksgiving 13 year old and I ordered the big fat turkey legs. After years of going to amusement parks, I had never had a Henry the 8th style turkey leg. Now I know why! The leg is really difficult to eat. And even though it is really big, with all the cartilage and tendons there is really not much meat to eat. The few bites of meat I did get were smokey and flavorful. The French Fries were limp and cold. However, the roasted potatoes were wonderful....really well seasoned, some of the best I have ever had. The corn on the cob was also very good. On Thanksgiving Day you could order a turkey dinner for four. I thought that was a nice touch for those spending the holiday in the park. Absolutely not! I wanted a Turkey leg really bad lol so I ordered my meal on the universal app which also almost serves no purpose. I arrived and side note this place isn't the cleanest. Once I found someone to seat me I waited another 15mins for my food to come (Turkey legs and fries) the fries were dehydrated and hard, the turkey leg was tough and disgusting. I mean you had to gnaw on it that's how dry and tough it was. The plastic knife and fork they give you wouldn't even cut or pierce through it. I asked the lady next to me if it got any more tender after she got past the outer part and she said no it's a waste of time and money. She was right. I do not recommend going here.
