I absolutely loved Das Stakehaus, and not just as someone who grew up with Univeral Monsters. It's a good place to get out of the Orlando heat, or daily hour long rain storm, to grab a bite to eat. The theming is on point! Pricing is what you would expect from thems park fair ... But food options in this park are a big more theme park elevated. From a blood orange chicken sandwich, staked chicken that comes with a chimcurri sauce, and even the kid safe chicken strips (only on kids menu( We enjoyed everything we had here the two times we ended up stopping here during our trip. I also have to give a shout out to how they have ordering set up here, and all table service here in Epic. You find a table and order on the app. They have an allergy tab you can click, and someone will come to your table to talk about what is needed to accommodate your need. It's so efficient! They do have an area you can visit if you do need help, just be sure to claim a table first so that you can let them know which table number you would be at. Is it weird that I came here just for the Bloody Mary when they have a full dinner menu? Absolutely not. I had heard online that the Bloody Mary is disgusting. I am here to disagree! Is it unique? Yes. They use Asian chili oil, which gives it a little bit of a sweetness. But it really grew on me. Plus this drink is stacked! I got a piece of bacon, celery, olives, and cheese balls. The cheese balls were a great surprise, because that's a popular snack in dark universe and now I got to try it! They're really yummy. Nothing fancy. After this place was recommended to me & hearing about a certain burger they served, I stopped by for lunch. While Dark Universe is already captivating enough with all they've done, this restaurant is a perfect addition to further the experience. It's described as a dining hall that was built over ancient catacombs & has been overrun by vampires. From the moment you walk inside this dark, yet beautifully lit restaurant, it feels as if you've stepped into a whole new gothic world. I really loved how the entire place is decorated. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling there's all sorts of vampiric artwork & artifacts. They have black plating, black "silverware", black tables & chairs, red napkins, skulls everywhere. Visually speaking, what's not to love? Most importantly, the food was truly delicious. I ended up splitting a "Das Burger" & "Blood Orange Chicken Sandwich" with someone which was a great idea. Both of these sandwiches are unique & incredibly flavorful while they also fully lean into the theming. The burger, which was recommended by my brother, has a tomato pepper chutney, dill aioli, white cheddar, grilled onions, cherry peppers & bacon. To my surprise, It even came out a little pink (I was thrilled to see it wasn't cooked to a tire). There's a nice heat that creeps up once you get a few bites in; the toppings work really well together. The fried chicken sandwich has a blood orange sauce, pickles & house slaw. While it was a bit more "normal" compared to the burger, the flavors were anything but. I'd order both of these again without a doubt. I've actually thought about them multiple times since my trip a few weeks ago... The dining area really opens up once you get inside & there's plenty of seating for parties of all sizes. There's employees everywhere who are all super friendly & they did a great job at serving guests/clearing tables. My food was brought out quick & everything was made fresh. I feel as if the pricing was fair, at around $18 for a sandwich & fries, because of how delicious everything was. I didn't try any other food spots on my trip to Epic but after my experience here it'd be hard to go elsewhere. It was super dark in here, and your eyes might have a hard time at first adjusting from the intense bright light outside to the dark. One will find plenty of seating inside with tables and chairs across a few dining sections. Everything here is a mobile order. Once seated at a table, scan the QR code there, order your food, and that's it. The menu consists of burgers, kebabs, sandwiches, and more with a vampire twist. We decided on Bits And Pieces (meatloaf) and Craved Staked Steak. They were accompanied by acorn squash and mashed potatoes. Our meal was flavorful, with the steak being tender and the meatloaf moist. The service was quick. It's overpriced, but remember you're in a theme park! Das Stakehouse is a restaurant located in Dark Universe at Epic Universe, and you'll need park admission to dine there. The restaurant is open from 9 AM to 9 PM. This is a sit-down restaurant, but you must place your order through the Universal App. It's very important to select that you're at the restaurant and enter your table number after ordering; otherwise, the kitchen won't prepare your food. I learned this the hard way- lol, our party waited over 40 minutes because I hadn't checked in correctly. But once I checked in; the food was prepared really quick. Despite that hiccup, the food was superb. The steaks were incredibly tender, and the gravy sauce was excellent! The burger was also packed with flavor. The highlight of the menu was definitely the glazed pork belly--absolutely amazing! We could've easily eaten two servings of it. The meat was incredibly soft, and the sauce had delightful hints of teriyaki. All the vegetables were cooked perfectly and tasted great, and the mocktail was delicious as well! It's exactly what you'd want from a vampire-themed tavern-dark, moody, and packed with cool details like staked vampires and classic monster portraits on the walls. The food, however, was a bit of a "mixed bag." The Carved Staked Steak and the Monocane drink (which is a total must-order!) were delicious and lived up to the hype. But the rest felt a little "off." The "Blood" Orange Chicken Sandwich and the chicken strips just didn't hit the mark for me. Also, the Black Bun looks incredible for photos, but the taste and texture didn't quite hold up. One thing to note: they have a strict no-takeout policy here-you have to finish your meal in the catacombs! If the chicken was as good as the steak, this would be 5 stars. This restaurant feels like you are dining in your favorite gothic vampire film. The theming is top tier from the paintings to the lifelike staked vampires in the crypt. You can actually see the veins in the vampire's foot. There was a violinist walking around playing somber music setting the tone. There is so much detail for a quick service restaurant. Ordering is done through the mobile app which is efficient between rides/shows. Universal staff is great especially the familiars in character who make it fun. Steak on a Stake: The tenderloin steak was well seasoned and tender. It's cooked well done but you add the au jus sauce which makes it juicy and "bloody." The mashed potatoes, carrots, and squash were all tasty. I usually don't like oyster mushrooms, but these were good. Highly recommend this dish. Darkmoor Black Wings: The wings are super crispy and coated with a spicy chili garlic sauce. This sauce is dyed black for theming. It might be too spicy for spice adverse eaters. The pimento cornbread skull is flavorful and not dry or spicy. The slaw cools everything down. Highly recommend this dish. Absolutely horrible. First off I hate that you have to order on the app and you cannot alter the food unless on there at all. The prices here are lower than most other options at the park but still horrible food. Also nowhere on the menu does it inform you of the food coloring in the bread and buns to dye them black. This was just gross. I ordered their burger and ate less than half as it was dry, overcooked, and flavorless. The sauce and jalapeños did not help and the one measly piece of sautéed onion was bland. The fries were edible but needed to be cooked longer. The orange chicken sandwich was gross as the sauce was yet again colored to be bright red and tasted like a poor sweet and sour sauce imitation. Oh man, Universal has created an entire experience with this quick service Dark Universe restaurant. I absolutely loved Das Stakehaus. It was a great refuge away from the hot sun. Tucked away in Darkmoor, I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of work and detail that went into this place. The staff was SO friendly (ESPECIALLY Team Member Gabo, who went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special by giving me a ton of fun facts about the restaurant). You order via Mobile App; but those, like me, with a leftover Universal Mardi Gras gift card can opt for in-person ordering at the bar/station you pass by as you're making your way into the main dining room. You just need a table number of where you're sitting to order in-person. The atmosphere is spooky and eerie, in the best kind of way. This was any Halloween Horror Nights fan's dream come true. There are sinister paintings covering nearly every wall, and lots of ghouls hanging around along with skull chandeliers. The chairs are heavy to move around but VERY comfortable. It was nice and chilly in there, which was so nice after a day of walking around Epic with very little shade anywhere. THE GOODS: 1) Das Burger ($17.99 at the time)- It is a "Seared Angus burger with tomato pepper chutney, white cheddar cheese, grilled onions, cherry peppers, and bacon on a black bun with fries." Dang, that was tasty with a KICK! I really enjoyed this burger. The black bun is SO fun (and yes, the rumors are true about how the dye on the bun has an interesting effect on your... digestive results)... The burger had a surprisingly delicious sear on it! I usually don't go for burgers in theme parks because I've had less than stellar experiences with theme park burgers (as they're typically flavorless with zero sear), but I'd go back to Das Stakehaus for this! The toppings are a pretty delightful combination- different, in a good way. The potato wedges were ooookay. My mom really liked them. I thought they were a bit on the soft side for my liking. I prefer them to be a bit crispier. Overall, it was a decent-sized burger, and nice size to share (if you're like me and are interested in hitting multiple foodie spots to try out as many places as possible at Epic). I'd DEFINITELY recommend Das Stakehaus to check out and grab a burger! There were also some items that my buddy Gabo recommended, like the Bird on a Stake (chicken skewer with chimmichurri). Everything from the moment you walk in (deathly cold atmosphere) to the structures to the color of the food and silverware was nicely done! Really! Universal spent their time on thier eateries and it shows! I ordered the wings and the wings were large, crispy and tasteful. The coleslaw and skeleton head cornbread was also on point! I did get pretty cold while in there which is why I minus one star. I felt that after I ate I wanted to get out of there because of the cold. It was the perfect lunch after the Monsters Unchained ride (which was fkn amazing). I'm a horror fan and this place was right up my alley. From the aesthetics, props, paintings, lighting, it was awesome! There are plenty of seating and you order from the QR code on the table. Food came out quick and their staff were consistently cleaning around the areas, great job everyone! We ordered the angus burger and shared one refillable fountain drink. The "stake" in the middle of the burger with the "blood" sauce gushing out of it it is a nice touch, very clever! The burgers were decent sized and was pretty good with the side of thick, seasoned fries. This was definitely worth it because it was well done, filled us up, under $20 each, and doesn't break your bank. Def recommend! read more

However, the food is mostly okay overall, and after eating at other spots in Epic Universe, I can easily say this one isn't the best. The fried chicken was pretty dull and the bread was rock solid - not really a great first impression. The skewered chicken was better, but mostly dry, saved only by the sauce that was on the plate. The sides were fine, though, nothing super special, but made the meal more tolerable with the high price. I tried other spots around the park and this one doesn't live up to the others, so unless you're dying for some chicken, find something more fun! read more

Went to dinner here last night after a long day of theme parking. Theme park food is not usually associated with "quality" or "flavor" but we were blown away by Das Stakehaus. We arrived only a few minutes before they closed the door and stopped letting people in, and instead of annoyance or irritation, we were met with smiles and a door held open welcoming us. The whole restaurant is extremely immersive in the theme of the area. The tables were dark wood with high backed chairs topped with bats. There were vampires stakes to the wall and skulls on the chandeliers. The napkins were red cloth and the cutlery was black (and it was real cutlery, not plastic). The food was extremely reasonably priced for the quality. The portions were small by some standards, but I was very satisfied and did not leave hungry. My pork was cooked flawlessly and melted in my mouth and the potatoes were flavorful enough that gravy was not needed. There are a lot of options for dining at Epic, but for a good sit down dinner this is a great choice! read more

The creaminess of the pan a cotta paired good with the raspberry sauce and you get the pops from the pop rock. The mood in here is top notch! Fits right in with the rest of Dark Universe. They have self serve kiosks as well as cashiers if you want to pay with cash (or have an issue with the Universal ordering app like I did). Warning that the cashiers may tell you that you have to order on the app, but that's not true...they just have to stop talking to each other and help you. I ordered on a kiosk and our food actually took quite a bit to arrive at our table. I ordered the vegetarian option for this restaurant which was an Impossible meat stuffed cabbage roll with beet pasta. The cabbage roll was top notch, definitely one of my favorite foods of the trip. The beet pasta was NOT good. I like beets, the flavor wasn't the issue - it was the texture. Very gummy and weird. Hubby got Das Burger and seemed to like it. Das Stakehaus, located at the newest theme park in Orlando, EPIC Universe, is one of the restaurants you can find in Dark Universe section of the park. Dark Universe has 3 different locations that you can get meals or snacks. This is the main quick service location. It is located to the right, as soon as you enter the portal. This is a quick service location but like many Universal quick service locations, you sit down and order on the app, and your food is brought to you. The restaurant itself is very dark; there are painting of Vampires, figurines and lots of spooky stuff. I could see children being scared, but nothing jumps out at you, its not a haunted house, just themed very well. We had to wait in line for about 15ish minutes for a table, there did seem to be a counter, which looked like you could potentially order directly there, but during the previews, it was not open and just used to make drinks. I do hope this opens, not everyone has the app, is tech savvy or wants to order on their phone. I could also see people who want a special request needing to order at the counter. It could be since it was a preview, we could not make adjustments to the food, such as no sauce, in the app, so I think this will need to get adjusted especially for allergies. I do like that they seat you, it prevents people from just coming in and holding the tables up and not ordering food. There are mostly tables, with a few bench style seats at some of the tables. The restaurant is very large from what we could see. There is a freestyle Coke machine inside as well. I will say the chairs are HEAVY, we struggled pulling them out as well as the team member. They do not slide. They are also very hard and uncomfortable, actually leaving deep grooves on the back of our legs. The food is unique to the restaurant, serving familiar dishes with unique touches. We had a group of 6 so were able to order much of the menu. They said it was spicy! They mentioned they would order it again but it was very spicy. I will say the bun turned their mouth, teeth and tongue black so I don't think I would order it. We chose the Darkmoor Black Wings, which were spicy chili dusted fried wings, with a smoked cheddar, charred scallions, pimento cornbread skull, soy chili garlic sauce, served with a familiar slaw. We got 2 wings and they were so good. It was by far the best dish we had here. They were crispy, hot and full of flavor. We also ordered the bird on a stake which is grilled dry-rubbed chicken tenderloin, with red chimichurri, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, and crispy maitake mushrooms. We got 2 skewers. We really did not see any mushrooms, but the squash was fantastic. I really like the mashed potatoes but my wife not so much. There is a strong onion flavor in the potatoes. I will say these were so dry! I think it was off because a friend had been here as well and said they were super moist. We must have gotten a bad batch. The chicken just came off the skewer and pretty much crumbled. But the flavor was good, and I think this would have been a huge hit had it been cooked better. Overall, I loved this restaurant, I am a big fan of horror and HHN, so this was a perfect stop for me. I also ordered their Reaper's Reserve beer which was brown ale spiced beer with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clover. It was fantastic and I believe brewed for the park. The AC was also really pumping so it felt great inside. I do really hope they work out the ability to make simple adjustments to the food, but overall I loved it here. We will definitely come back and my in laws are already sold on the chicken wings! This was a great stop! read more

Das Stakehaus is the newest restaurant in the Dark Universe portal of EPIC Universe, Univeral's newest theme park. This park is set to open on May 22nd, but they are currently doing passholder previews and have recently opened it to everyone to purchase a ticket. This is the main quick service restaurant in this section of the park. There is a smaller quick service place here as well, but really is meant for to-go, as there are very few seats ad only a couple of items. This restaurant is very dark; there is a ton to see and a lot of it is monsters. I could see children being scared. This is a unique quick service since you need to sit down at a table and order your food on their app and then they will bring your food to you. There is a counter which seems like you could order there, but at the moment that is not open, and you need to order from the table. This could potentially pose an issue as not everyone has the app, is tech savvy or wants to order this way. It was fine for us since we have done this before. You also have to wait in line to be seated which is nice in its own way since you will get a table. It also prevents people from just coming in and holding the tables up and not ordering food. Starting with the atmosphere, they have all tables and a few bench style seats at some of the tables. There are about 3 different rooms, from what I could tell. They do have a Coca Cola refill station inside as well. The chairs are HEAVY! I struggled pulling it out, they do not slide, and they are very hard and uncomfortable. They actually left deep grooves on the back of our legs. I personally was not a fan. The food is pretty standard with a few unique touches. They have a burger and a chicken sandwich but not classic. The burger was what one of our friends ordered and had an angus burger topped with tomato pepper chutney, white cheddar cheese, grilled onions, cherry peppers, and bacon served on a black bun and came with fries. I did not try it but they both said it was spicy. They didn't really seem to like it at first but by the end, they said it was good, they would get it again, but they kept mentioning how spicy it was. The bun turned their mouth, teeth and tongue black though, I was not a fan, and I don't think I would order it. Our other friend ordered the "Blood" Orange Chicken Sandwich, which I did get to try. It is a fried chicken sandwich topped with blood orange sauce, pickles, and coleslaw, served on a black bun and came with fries. It was good, it had a lot of flavors, but I am not a fan of the bun. One of our friends also ordered the kids chicken tender meal. It was a standard chicken tender meal, 2 tenders and fries. It only came with ketchup. She asked for some other sauce and was told there was none, which was weird. They also wanted mayo for the burger and also, they did not have it. My husband and I decided to share two entrees, so we ordered the Darkmoor Black Wings which were fried chicken wings with smoky cheddar, charred scallions and soy chili garlic sauce, served with a pimento cornbread. It came with 2 chicken wings. These were crispy, hot and very good. It did not have a ton of sauce which was good. I think too much would take away from the crispiness. We loved these and would definitely order them again. We also ordered the bird on a stake which was grilled dry-rubbed chicken tenderloin with red chimichurri, charred green onion mashed potatoes, roasted baby carrots, acorn squash, and crispy maitake mushrooms. We did not see any mushrooms on the plate and the chicken was dry. This needed a dipping sauce or something. It was clearly overcooked, and it pretty much crumbled away from the skewer with just a little pressure. Way to overdone. The flavor was good, and I think this would have been a huge hit had it been cooked better. We did enjoy the squash though. I was a huge fan of the mashed potatoes, they had a big scallion taste to them, but my husband loved them. Overall, I think this was a great stop. It was really good; we definitely enjoyed our meal. It was dark inside so nice and cool. The AC was really kicking. I know that it's not quite open, but my main issue is that you cannot change anything with the food since it's all on the app, and they do not give you any options. I would personally order the chicken sandwich but get the sauce on the side, as sometimes it can be too heavy handed. The same for the chicken wings, I would have ordered it with the sauce on the side and then we could have used that for the chicken skewers. Hopefully once the park fully opens, they will have that ability, but people with allergies or dislikes, would potentially have a hard time. But I would definitely come back, my parents are already sold on the chicken wings! I would add this to your list if you go. read more

As a theme park quick service stop, I think this restaurant is highly underrated. From black bread to blood-red napkins, the theming/lighting is perfection. The staff were efficient as well. I had the Darkmoor Mary to drink, it was fantastic, but quite spicy, so be warned. Definitely was not a routine packaged Bloody Mary mix. & I had the Das Burger which I thought was very good - the chutney, in my opinion, made it so. It's a great burger, at least if dressed as it comes. We'll be back! read more

We really liked the food here. Reviews said to stay away from the steak so we did. The Pork Belly entree was delicious! We also had the Meatball Skewer which was tasty and a perfect portion for lunch. They have awesome drink choices. Loved the Souvenir Monocane Mocktail and the over the top spicy Darkmoor Mary Cocktail. So good. Everyone needs to stop by this eerie atmosphere restaurant and take in the Dark World! read more

I tried the Crimson Glazed Pork and it was delicious! Pork was juicy and flavorful and the mashed potatoes and vegetables also had great flavor. I liked that it didn't feel like a heavy theme park meal and left me perfectly satisfied and not like I needed to take a nap afterwards. The best part was the spooky atmosphere! The theming is on point here, and the AC is nice & cool which is great on a hot summer day. Service was very friendly as well and I saw across from me a Chef personally speaking to a guest about options that accommodated her allergies. BIG bonus points for that! read more

The ambiance fits the theme of dark ghoulish haunting mystic feel, they nailed it! The food accommodates this theme quite well, as the food tastes like fresh roadkill. I ordered rhe Darkmoor Black Wings, where the exterior of the chicken was crispy, yet when u broke open the meat, it did not separate, as it was not cooked all the way through...so meat was tough and had absolutely NO flavor!!! I pinched on the cornbread skull, which wasn't bad, tasted like the sweet jiffy mix and I opted not to eat the slaw. I ordered a souvenir monocane cocktail beaker and u must believe what they list as the ingredients (((((ABSOLUTELY ALL SYRUP AMD SUGARY)))))...I ordered a 2nd one (only for the beaker), poured out the contents.
