    Darkmoor Black Wings
    Micah E.

Das Stakehaus in Universal's Epic Universe offers a unique horror dining experience that stands out because of the dark The restaurant has a dark castle dining experience to where even the lights flicker red. A mix of intimate booths and spacious tables accommodates both couples and larger groups. You order by QR code at the table so food comes out fast but also you have to go fill your own drink. The highlight of the food was the Darkmoor Black Wings which had a wild jerk chicken chili sauce flavor. It only came with two wings but wanted more. Dining at Das Stakehaus is a delightful escape from the busy park atmosphere with great air conditioning . If you want to relax and have great park themed food this is the one for you.

Located inside the Dark Universe at Universal Epic Universe, Das Stakehaus is an old inn and dining hall built over the ruins of ancient catacombs where my partner and I decided to grab lunch. It's a brilliant concept that evokes the vibe of a vampire hangout. It features numerous paintings depicting the world of vampires from their perspective, portraying them as heroes in their own stories. The artwork also showcases aspects of Darkmoor's history and architecture. Once you stepped inside this establishment, one stepped into a very dark world. No, really. It was super dark in here, and your eyes might have a hard time at first adjusting from the intense bright light outside to the dark. One will find plenty of seating inside with tables and chairs across a few dining sections. Everything here is a mobile order. Once seated at a table, scan the QR code there, order your food, and that's it. The menu consists of burgers, kebabs, sandwiches, and more with a vampire twist. We decided on Bits And Pieces (meatloaf) and Craved Staked Steak. They were accompanied by acorn squash and mashed potatoes. Our meal was flavorful, with the steak being tender and the meatloaf moist. The service was quick. It's overpriced, but remember you're in a theme park! The staff went above and beyond by cleaning the tables after each use. We have to give this restaurant a 10 out of 10 for theming because the gothic vibe is SO strong here. It's a really fun place to eat.

Das Stakehouse is a restaurant located in Dark Universe at Epic Universe, and you'll need park admission to dine there. The restaurant is open from 9 AM to 9 PM. This is a sit-down restaurant, but you must place your order through the Universal App. It's very important to select that you're at the restaurant and enter your table number after ordering; otherwise, the kitchen won't prepare your food. I learned this the hard way- lol, our party waited over 40 minutes because I hadn't checked in correctly. But once I checked in; the food was prepared really quick. Despite that hiccup, the food was superb. The steaks were incredibly tender, and the gravy sauce was excellent! The burger was also packed with flavor. The highlight of the menu was definitely the glazed pork belly--absolutely amazing! We could've easily eaten two servings of it. The meat was incredibly soft, and the sauce had delightful hints of teriyaki. All the vegetables were cooked perfectly and tasted great, and the mocktail was delicious as well! This is my top restaurant at Universal, followed closely by Atlantic.

The theme here is absolutely on point. It's exactly what you'd want from a vampire-themed tavern-dark, moody, and packed with cool details like staked vampires and classic monster portraits on the walls. The food, however, was a bit of a "mixed bag." The Carved Staked Steak and the Monocane drink (which is a total must-order!) were delicious and lived up to the hype. But the rest felt a little "off." The "Blood" Orange Chicken Sandwich and the chicken strips just didn't hit the mark for me. Also, the Black Bun looks incredible for photos, but the taste and texture didn't quite hold up. One thing to note: they have a strict no-takeout policy here-you have to finish your meal in the catacombs! If the chicken was as good as the steak, this would be 5 stars. For now, I'd say go for the ambiance and the steak, but maybe skip the poultry!

This restaurant feels like you are dining in your favorite gothic vampire film. The theming is top tier from the paintings to the lifelike staked vampires in the crypt. You can actually see the veins in the vampire's foot. There was a violinist walking around playing somber music setting the tone. There is so much detail for a quick service restaurant. Ordering is done through the mobile app which is efficient between rides/shows. Universal staff is great especially the familiars in character who make it fun. Steak on a Stake: The tenderloin steak was well seasoned and tender. It's cooked well done but you add the au jus sauce which makes it juicy and "bloody." The mashed potatoes, carrots, and squash were all tasty. I usually don't like oyster mushrooms, but these were good. Highly recommend this dish. Darkmoor Black Wings: The wings are super crispy and coated with a spicy chili garlic sauce. This sauce is dyed black for theming. It might be too spicy for spice adverse eaters. The pimento cornbread skull is flavorful and not dry or spicy. The slaw cools everything down. Highly recommend this dish. Darkthorne Mead: This Boysenberry mead is slightly sweet and does not have a strong alcohol taste. It's very pleasant to drink. This restaurant is a must do for horror movie enthusiasts!

Absolutely horrible. First off I hate that you have to order on the app and you cannot alter the food unless on there at all. The prices here are lower than most other options at the park but still horrible food. Also nowhere on the menu does it inform you of the food coloring in the bread and buns to dye them black. This was just gross. I ordered their burger and ate less than half as it was dry, overcooked, and flavorless. The sauce and jalapeños did not help and the one measly piece of sautéed onion was bland. The fries were edible but needed to be cooked longer. The orange chicken sandwich was gross as the sauce was yet again colored to be bright red and tasted like a poor sweet and sour sauce imitation. The chicken was overcooked and mostly breading. $50 lunch that was inedible and you cannot even complain as there is no staff once you have your food.

If there's lines everywhere good and you need a quick bite it will suffice. The ambiance is the major selling point here. Food is edible but nothing to write home about.

Okay steak--was made well done so it was chewy. Good mashed potato and soft carrots. Nice location to sit down and eat. Super cool interior--it's like walking in Mordor! nice staff

Love the theme of the restaurant. Quick service for ordering and receiving the food. Steak was delicious, along with its accompaniments! I did not care for the cool drink. I normally like sweet drinks, but it was a tad sugary and sweet for me. I'm sure kids love it though. It was cool to keep the beaker though!

Of course with this place being in Dark Universe, it gave that eerie feeling. It seems like every 10 or 15 mins, the lights flicker red. Ordered from the universal app, including beer. When the person brings the beer to the table, that's when they check the ID. My blood orange chicken sandwich came out in a good timely manner and was hot. What fully put things together is the blood orange sauce, its so good! They put the sauce on the sandwhich and included an extra ramekin of it. I was nervous about the black bun, but it didn't show on my teeth or anything. Yet, just a truthful warning, the #2 toilet "aftermath" might show a teal color.

The place has a great vibe for the horror lovers The ordering is easy, though the app and just wait for the food and drinks, great concept. The service is real nice and friendly. The food is pretty spicy, so I had to ask for a few condiments to dial down the spice. But overall the burger was pretty good and the wings weee delicious. The corn bread also had jalapeños but it was pretty tasty overall. The prices are as expected for a theme park restaurant and so is the serving size

This place has an awesome aesthetic that might scare some children lol. I only had the brain desert and it was DELICIOUS. It's a creamy panna cotta with a raspberry sauce. I think it has some pop rocks in there cause I had a few pops in my mouth. Truly recommend you give this a try. Since this place wasn't as busy as Mario world, it was a nice place to get away from the crowds and rest while having a nice bite in some cold AC.

Oh man, Universal has created an entire experience with this quick service Dark Universe restaurant. I absolutely loved Das Stakehaus. It was a great refuge away from the hot sun. Tucked away in Darkmoor, I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of work and detail that went into this place. The staff was SO friendly (ESPECIALLY Team Member Gabo, who went above and beyond to make my birthday feel special by giving me a ton of fun facts about the restaurant). You order via Mobile App; but those, like me, with a leftover Universal Mardi Gras gift card can opt for in-person ordering at the bar/station you pass by as you're making your way into the main dining room. You just need a table number of where you're sitting to order in-person. The atmosphere is spooky and eerie, in the best kind of way. This was any Halloween Horror Nights fan's dream come true. There are sinister paintings covering nearly every wall, and lots of ghouls hanging around along with skull chandeliers. The chairs are heavy to move around but VERY comfortable. It was nice and chilly in there, which was so nice after a day of walking around Epic with very little shade anywhere. THE GOODS: 1) Das Burger ($17.99 at the time)- It is a "Seared Angus burger with tomato pepper chutney, white cheddar cheese, grilled onions, cherry peppers, and bacon on a black bun with fries." Dang, that was tasty with a KICK! I really enjoyed this burger. The black bun is SO fun (and yes, the rumors are true about how the dye on the bun has an interesting effect on your... digestive results)... The burger had a surprisingly delicious sear on it! I usually don't go for burgers in theme parks because I've had less than stellar experiences with theme park burgers (as they're typically flavorless with zero sear), but I'd go back to Das Stakehaus for this! The toppings are a pretty delightful combination- different, in a good way. The potato wedges were ooookay. My mom really liked them. I thought they were a bit on the soft side for my liking. I prefer them to be a bit crispier. Overall, it was a decent-sized burger, and nice size to share (if you're like me and are interested in hitting multiple foodie spots to try out as many places as possible at Epic). I'd DEFINITELY recommend Das Stakehaus to check out and grab a burger! There were also some items that my buddy Gabo recommended, like the Bird on a Stake (chicken skewer with chimmichurri). I'll have to try it next time I'm at Epic!

There's no indoor seating, but there are a few tables outside if you want to hang out while you wait or eat there. (We ordered then walked over to Runabout Brewing for a beer while we waited) We went all in with the family deal: 50 wings, 2 fries, and 4 drinks. The wings were big, crispy, and cooked just right. We tried a mix of flavors: KB's Secret Rub (dry rub), That Honey Garlic, That Lemon Pepper, KB's Sweet Heat, and That Fiery Garlic Parm. The standout favorite for our group was That Honey Garlic, while the Lemon Pepper didn't quite hit the same for our group. The other three flavors were also very delicious! The fries were just as tasty.. crinkle cut and crispy. We got both the plain and the "secret rub" fries, and honestly, no complaints on either (the secret rub has a slightly sweet, BBQ-style flavor). The homemade dipping sauces were a nice bonus too. The ranch leans heavy on dill (in a good way) and the blue cheese has the perfect tang. Overall, I'm a big fan. I'll definitely be back and recommending it to anyone craving solid wings! (another thing to note: it's a cashless restaurant)

Place could've been a five star review but the sauce on the Honey Garlic (preponderance of the order) was not what I was accustomed to. Not enough honey and it seemed to buttery - almost like it would be better on crabs. Great blue cheese dip But loved the staff and service. Would return and get a dry wing.

Nothing; lunch hour prices still populated the system. That said, he asked us three times what we wanted. Drinks? Food? Anything to drink yet? I also asked our dear fella if it's Wing Thursday... uh: "oh, yeah." So the Queen Bee was in the mood for wings. Dry Rub #2, all flats. She said they were "okay." I didn't want any, so I can only hope she did like 'em. They came with the driest and most bland focaccia bread I've had occasion to try in a long time. Simon didn't bother to ask how they were either. I meantime chose to have a 16" half pepperoni (thick-cut) half Paulie's. The latter is meatball, sausage, ricotta and peppers (hot or sweet). They advertise their pies as being well done. Guess what? It wasn't...no char or barely a spot of black on it whatsoever. It was still passable, but for $28 TOTALLY not worth it. It also came out AFTER my dear Queen Bee finished her five little wings. I'll guess the pizza guy was in just as much a hurry as Simon was. We were gonna sit and have a glass of wine (her) and a draft (me). All they had on draught was Bud Light, Sam Adams, Voodoo Ranger and Stella...no thanks! "Uh: you wanna box for the pizza?" Let's just say his level of service was reflected by my level of gratuity. I said to him "I guess you're in a hurry, ain't you, Simon?" It went over his head, as did pretty much everything else in our limited conversations. He asked if we wanted "rewards" for it. No; why would I? Simon totally ruined our time there. Reward enough would be someone teaching that kid how to serve with manners and grace. So THIS experience tells me where NOT to go next time we pass through the neighborhood. Keep your rewards, Anthony. Save 'em for someone ELSE. I'll just take half the underdone pie home and heat it like it should be...or give it to a homeless man on the way home. I've eaten better pizza out of a gas fired oven.
