And, yes, as other reviews have mentioned, our orders came out in stages. Pro tip: order off the Pizza Hut menu, as those items all came out first. Like, significantly, first... We also ordered some local dishes, which were all tasty. The Indian fry bread was warm and very tasty. The lamb stew was very hearty. The restaurant appeared clean and organized. This is a combo restraint that is the both the Junction and Pizza Hut combined. We were promptly seated and our orders were taken. It took a while for our meals to arrive and for the most part they were very good. The steaks were great, however the baked potatoes were refrigerator cold inside. They did offer and provide a side of fries to make this right. The sheepherder was a good beef sandwich but the fry bread was dripping oil. As a note we were some of the last customers before closing and I think they had started shutting down the kitchen before we arrived. We were thankful that they were open and we got served. If we were to pass through the area again we would give it another try .

I enjoyed the huevos rancheros breakfast in green chili salsa at El Rancho. While dining at El Rancho, we met a group visiting from Wales, UK in the U.S. for the World Cup turns out Josh Thomas is a professional Rugby Player in Wales they were so nice. The service was great. It looked like it had been sitting out for awhile, but tasted ok. Queso was good. Salsa was decent. Chips were good but I had more tiny broken pieces than actual dip worthy chips. For dinner I chose the Rita Moreno with chicken, no sour cream and no beans. I got it "Christmas style" so I could try both green and red sauces. When it was brought to me the plate had beans on it and the enchiladas weren't even hot - they were barely warm. The cheese garnish on top was barely melted. I started with the red side. The sauce was very spicy (I love spice so no big deal for me). I wasn't a big fan of the flavor so I switched to the green side. The sauce had a decent amount of spice but way more flavorful IMO. The tiny rice scoop was decent, but again, all this food was barely warm. The waiter came by once to say sorry about the beans but a random hotel/restaurant guest that was muttering something incoherently prevented me from being able to get a refill of my soda. By the time the waiter checked in again I was over it and asked for my check. I guess I could say the appetiser met expectation but would have been much better had the guac been made to order. With all the hype this place got I expected more. There is a bar and a gift shop connected to it and a historic hotel where apparently come famous people stayed long ago. Since I'm not staying there and was there only for dinner I would have rather had a better meal experience and less hype. My advice is to keep looking unless you have it as a stop on your bucket/checklist.

My taste has moved on since that time, however, and I've had better, more flavorful bowls through the years. My wife's tacos were "standard lunchroom fare" she could have made at home. Don't know if it changes seasonal or it's the same menu. Food wise, went with the Arizona fried chicken. Three pieces tossed in a southwestern batter and deep fried. Served with jalapeños slices. Also a choice of fries, mash potatoes or white rice and seasoned veggies which was corn. And a piece of grilled Arizona bread which is similar to pita bread. Chicken was quite nice and juicy. Batter was good, not too much of it and a nice crunch. It was quite nice. Also had a bowl of soup which was like chicken tortillas without tortilla chips. That was quite nice as well. And an order of the chili beans con carne. A southwestern favorite which was a bowl of chili with shredded cheese and onions and served a side. The beef was flavorful and very hearty. It was very busy when we got there, as it was lunch time on a Saturday. Most tables were full, with a line forming by the time we were leaving. It's right off the highway, so it's an easy and convenient stop, and they have a handle on getting people in and out quickly. My husband got a sort of open face chili burger and I got a cheeseburger. My husband thought his food was great and got maybe halfway through it, good portion size. My burger was pretty basic. It kind of reminded me of the burger you'd get at a big family bbq, grilled patty, standard toppings, nothing fancy. Not bad at all, just simple, and does the trick. Our waiter, Dean, was wonderful! Friendly, attentive, and quick. Drinks came quickly, food came not long after ordering, and we never needed anything. The vibe inside is very classic diner, casual and welcoming. They do also incorporate a Native American market, so artists and vendors walk from table to table selling jewelry and art. It's a really unique experience, I wasn't expecting it, but it felt like we were experiencing local culture.
