    Combination Enchillada Plate
    Norm W.

Good food and service here. Have not been here for many years. Old school Route 66 restaurant. Good selection of Mexican and American food. Had the three enchilada combination plate. Enchiladas had chicken cheese and beef. Sauce had some heat. Just the right small size portion of rice and beans. Complimentary chips and salsa. Nothing real fancy but good food and service.

Didn't get a picture of my food I simply had a drink and the chips and salsa that I didn't ask for that I was charged for

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE MANAGER , I asked her a question about my order because I thought we had had a little bit of confusion , I don't know if she was having a bad day but she said "I'm getting sick of you people coming in here and doing this" when I asked who is you people ? (Because I am a person of color) she then rolled her eyes she then was acting very frustrated at the register when I tried to pay and was getting very snappy with my boyfriend I asked her to please stop yelling and talking to him this way she proceeded to get louder until I asked to speak to a manger she then tells me he's deaf so he won't understand what I am saying I said okay I would still like to speak with him because I know sign language , (he was hard of hearing but was not deaf in the slightest) I then told him how she treated me and said she should really be talked to for her attitude.. on the way out she called me MORE THAN ONE SLUR . I am not kidding this was the worst experience I have ever had in my life she would not tell me her name but she didn't keep telling my my servers name , my servers name was not the problem.

Our waiter was really great. And the food was pretty good, except the tortilla chips. My complaint is that during our entire meal these random people kept approaching us trying to sell us jewelry and stuff! Every few minutes a new person or child came up to us holding a case of jewelry. They didn't care we were talking to the waiter ordering food, they just lingered there staring until the waiter walked away. They didn't care we were trying to eat our dinner or have conversations. It was really annoying after the first three times, and then they just kept coming! They circled the tables like hungry sharks. Why would they allow these people to constantly harass customers trying to have dinner? It was obnoxious. We just wanted to enjoy our meal. I would never go there again or recommend to anyone.

My parents live in Gallup, so for many years I have eaten Mexican food throughout the town. This place is the best. I particularly love their green chile, not to hot, but wonderfully flavored. Unlike many bowls of Chile that one finds in New Mexico, this one does not include potatoes, though you can ask for beans to be added. Their rellenos are equally excellent, as well as the enchiladas. Charlie, the owner is almost always their and happy greets the visitors to ensure that every desire is met. I recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic New Mexican Food. It is not Tex-Mex or Santa Fe with the frills, but just great food. The setting is not fancy, and the patrons range from locals to tourists. The prices are very reasonable. This is a win-win place to go.

The place looks a little "divey," but it served me one the best enchiladas I have had in a long time. I got the combo plate with enchilada and tamale. The tamale was good -- the breading was not too heavy or thick. I got the beef enchilada with the green sauce and it was excellent!! If given the option, go for the green sauce! The negative: The tortilla chips seemed a little stale AND from my seat I could look into the kitchen and it was somewhat unsettling to see both servers grabbing tortilla chips and putting them into the baskets with their bare hands!

This place is so good! I love New Mexican Mexican style food! The spices they add are always so good & delicious. Makes my mouth water. Ha ha. This is a local gem in Gallup, New Mexico (one of the local gems of Gallup). I had the half order of the ground beef red Chile enchiladas, Spanish rice, refried beans which was so good and two big thumbs up! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive - a true sweetheart. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. You get a hot, fresh tortilla with butter in addition to your entree meal. I highly recommend this place.

This location is on the Historic Route 66 Highway. I'm still in search for the best New Mexico chili and trying as many locations before leaving. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros breakfast in green chili salsa at El Rancho. While dining at El Rancho, we met a group visiting from Wales, UK in the U.S. for the World Cup turns out Josh Thomas is a professional Rugby Player in Wales they were so nice. The service was great. I bought a few souvenirs and Prickly Pear candy at their gift shop. The weather in Gallup is much nicer and cooler than it was in Rosewell. Check out this near town! Happy Yelping :)

I ordered the three dips and chips - which is a shareable appetizer. It came out almost as soon as I ordered it and since I was only the third person in the restaurant I wondered if they had a bunch pre-made in case they got busy. The guac wasn't made to order. It looked like it had been sitting out for awhile, but tasted ok. Queso was good. Salsa was decent. Chips were good but I had more tiny broken pieces than actual dip worthy chips. For dinner I chose the Rita Moreno with chicken, no sour cream and no beans. I got it "Christmas style" so I could try both green and red sauces. When it was brought to me the plate had beans on it and the enchiladas weren't even hot - they were barely warm. The cheese garnish on top was barely melted. I started with the red side. The sauce was very spicy (I love spice so no big deal for me). I wasn't a big fan of the flavor so I switched to the green side. The sauce had a decent amount of spice but way more flavorful IMO. The tiny rice scoop was decent, but again, all this food was barely warm. The waiter came by once to say sorry about the beans but a random hotel/restaurant guest that was muttering something incoherently prevented me from being able to get a refill of my soda. By the time the waiter checked in again I was over it and asked for my check. I guess I could say the appetiser met expectation but would have been much better had the guac been made to order. With all the hype this place got I expected more. There is a bar and a gift shop connected to it and a historic hotel where apparently come famous people stayed long ago. Since I'm not staying there and was there only for dinner I would have rather had a better meal experience and less hype. My advice is to keep looking unless you have it as a stop on your bucket/checklist.
