These guys are crooks and are pocketing everyone's money. Here is a cut and paste of an email I received a few days ago. They say the business is gone, but they still rent snowmobiles every single day. My reservation was for March 7. "Hi John, We are more than sorry to inform you that due to Routt County Government Tyranny, our business no longer exists. While we feel obligated to refund you, our cash reserve is completely drained. We unfortunately can't give you something we no longer have with a business that no longer even exists. We realize that this is devastating not only to you, but also the 20 employees that were put out of work mid season. Per our terms and conditions when booking with us, our clause forcemaje excuses our obligations if an unforeseen event prevents us from being able to perform the duties provided. This was DEFINITELY not foreseen in any way, shape, or form. Routt County revoked our permit because we had 2 porta potties instead of 1, 4 fuel barrels instead of 2, and that we trailered snowmobiles up our plowed trail to the snowline after Routt County had plowed our perfectly good snowmobile trail in Dec 2024. We are sorry we can't pay you back. We just lost our business and some of us just lost most of our life's savings & years of hard work. " read more

We came back for the second year in a row, and worth every effort to get here from Maine. Can't say enough good things about the guides, so chill, patient,knowledgeable, and they even gas you up a little to give you even more confidemce. It was a day to remember. Rob was our guide and he did a great job. We did the full day open country trip. We had 2-3' of fresh powder to ride in. The snowmobiles are in great operating condition. They also provided boots, snowmobile suits, helmets, goggles, gloves. Make sure you have a neck gaiter. I would recommend this company. read more

We came to town for a guys weekend. We hired the private tour guide and did the backcountry snowmobiling. Marcos, our guide, was amazing!! Great teacher and very patient will all of our falls and spills. The gear was like new, sleds were powerful, and the people were great. Having been with one other operator in town (that was completely unresponsive) I reached out to Thunderstruck. This is a small group so getting hold of someone can be challenging - do not let that be a negative. After a few back and forth we met at their location just outside of town after booking online. Met at their shop and got hooked up with all of the necessary gear. We had a good size tour of 2 busses. It's maybe a 30 bus ride out of town up a trail and into the mountains to basecamp. Lots of sleds - quickly got organized and on our way. Went up some trails that were good though springlike conditions and into the mountains. Stopped a few times along the way to gather the group and eventually into a meadow for some free riding which was great. Scenery along the way was unreal and the trails were great. Eventually after several hours back to basecamp and into the busses. Several things to mention - entire team was extremely helpful and absolutely wanted the ride to be great, machines were in very good condition along with the gear, it was a hell of a day. Perfect day of sledding with an awesome company. This is a must when looking for a snowmobiling experience. Can't wait for the next time. read more

This is a top notch outfitter! The sleds were powerful and built for adventure. We did the pro guide tour and it didn't disappoint! Our guide Marcus was a ex-professional snowcross rider and fun to follow and watch. He taught us how to better handle the sleds to get the most out of our trip. We rode through 4-5 powder filled fields and had them all to ourselves. He knew all the best spots and gave us all that we could handle! He also built a fire when we broke for lunch. This was the highlight of our guys trip hands down. We have been to a few other outfitters over the years and Thunderstruck truly provided a top level experience that can entertain novice riders and challenge the strongest riders. My fiancé & I had an amazing time on the trail explorer adventure 4 hour tour. It was a bumpy ride as a passenger, but overall so adventurous & fun. We were with a group that went fast and didn't stop unless we needed to so that was a plus! Our guide stopped to give us breaks when necessary, and also let us drive freely in 2 separate meadows. I cannot say enough about the 1/2 day excursion my husband and I and three teenage girls experienced with Thunderstruck. So dangerous. The most understaffed unsafe family activity in CO. 3 out of 10 snowmobiles flipped. One passenger's foot was broken due to being run over in a flip. The guides had no way to communicate with each other. We started with one guide for 8 snowmobiles. For the second half of the trip, one guide for 18 snowmobiles. read more

Not TA's fault, just conditions worsened and powder got too deep for the trail sleds and we kept getting stuck. Had to turn back. Dillan was an awesome guide.
