This was a very unique experience and one that you will not find at too many places. Please note that this review is about the snowcat /gondola experience. We boarded the gondola a few minutes before our allotted time and arrived at Thunderhead Lodge. We were greeted by Laura who had us congregate in the Lodge before our snowcat ride. Our snowcat arrived and we were given a heads up by our driver regarding the ride to our final destination, Four Points Lodge. The ride was a fun way to travel up the mountain with only some very bright lights for guidance and the expertise of our driver. We arrived 10 minutes later and were greeted by Cliff, the restaurant manager. We were next given a breakdown of how the evening was to proceed. We debarked the snowcat and were seated at our table. From there we selected a nice Cabernet. Our server, Jordan, was very attentive throughout the evening even offering photos inside AND outside the restaurant. Know that by day this is a utilitarian ski lodge, but by night this turns into a fine dining establishment. The food was exemplary. We started with antipasti plate. Onward to a Tuscan bean soup and Caesar salad. All were very tasty and well presented. I selected the chicken plate and my wife the salmon. Both dishes were expertly prepared. The flavors of each dish shone. Our experience was not only unique but romantic and enjoyable as we made our way down the gondola to the Steamboat town lights. The location was at the mid mountain of Steamboat mountain. Many folks in front of me in line were ordering the steak sandwich so I decided to also give it a try. I took the photo attached after eating half the sandwich so the portions are pretty decent. I thought the meat was cooked well and had nice flavor. It was expensive though (around $23). read more

We ordered bison polpettone (burger) and elk bolognese. They are good but on the expensive side. There are loungers chairs for resting and enjoying the view and the sun. Convenient located below a long run of moguls, so no complaints there. read more

I expect more from an on mountain place that is charging upwards of $150+ per day. They have a car Robert of rIdiculously priced fOod options, salad, sandwiches, grilled food. Your typical ski resort lodge food. I got the bison chili and a side Caesar salad for $17.50, which was pretty good and just what I needed. The views are spectacular. If it's a nice day, I highly recommend getting your food and taking it to a table top outside to take in the breathtaking views. Get someone to take your picture! Our expectations were low, but the system they have here was great! Gone are the days of fighting for a table, glaring at others making poor use of a large table, waiting in convoluted lines for food. These folks have a real value add. The hunt out shared table space for you and seat you. You order online with the instructions at the table, and in about 10 min food appears. Every resort needs to adopt this. Food was pretty good too. Get the cheese pasta, dip it in the spicy tomato soup, and crunch down on a salad. read more

Four Points Lodge is a major improvement over the hut it used to be. Plenty of space to relax, grab breakfast or lunch (dinner served but with reservations and not in ski attire) with restroom and great indoor and deck space. The downstairs (where bathrooms are) now has a quick grab and go cafe while upstairs is more cafeteria style with a full bar (try the bloody mary you won't be disappointed) Yes the prices are expensive as it's on mountain food and drink. We had a most excellent evening starting with a gondola ride followed by a snowcat ride up to 4 Points for dinner. It was a birthday for our daughter w family that didn't disappoint! Starters at bar w Pinot - excellent scallops! Our waitstaff Ms Roth perfect service. The courses weren't rushed, Chef accommodated pescatarians as well as meat eaters effortlessly and beautifully. In a nutshell....UGH We have lived in SS, full-time for 12 seasons and have been ski season pass holders for nearly 15 years. Springtime, end of season, weekday, few people on the mtn and at the twilight of the second of two dismal snowfall seasons in a row...we decided to dine @ 4 Pts two days ago. We ordered the Asian noodle bowl, and jalapeno-bacon mac 'n cheese. Cook, staff and cashier appeared to be usually friendly and upbeat (as always). Servings appeared generous in size but were both UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY TASTELESS. There was no available hot mustard nor soy sauce to flavor the noodle bowl up and the mac 'n cheese had under a dozen specs (0.5mm in caliber) of bacon and jalapeno. I looked for a supervisor/manager to report our concerns but none was available. The season following the grand refurbishment/build out from Hut to Lodge, the food offerings were very tasteful. The absolute opposite was experienced this time. The term NEVER AGAIN may never be mentioned enough times (Oh Mr. Wizard, if I say it a 100 times will it go away!) Far more tasteful offerings towards the base area may be obtained @ T-Bar, Slopeside, Paramount, Talay Thai and even mid-mtn Thunderhead Lodge are all far more tasteful and equivalent in price. read more

Its not the same Four Point any more! We did the night time gondola ride to a heated luxury snowcat, which took us further up the mountain to the now Four Points Lodge for the five course Italian inspired dinner. Where we were greeted with a glass of wine and light Hors d'oeuvre while a 7 year old boy delighted us with his violin. We where then seated next to the fireplace to enjoy Charcutiere & Assorted Cheeses with fresh breads. Granted I am a sucker for any restaurant with a bread boy but I digress as it was among just one of the elements that made my girlfriends and my visit so memorable. She had the Salmon Piccata, which she refused to share, and I had the Braised Lamb Shank. The lamb was cooked perfectly to the point I couldn't stop eating it though I was completely full. When compared to other waitress in town ours was very good however there's a star waitress at Four Points who is truly amazing. Her care for her craft and personality is unsurpassed and I will defiantly make it a point to request her section in the future. We went for a fancy date night and ended up spending no more then we normally would in Steamboat but got in our opinion a lot more in terms of service, food, ambience, value and even some adventure.... Imagine our surprise when we learned that our season ski passes got us a 10% discount :-) The only thing I would change is Ski Corp needs to do a better job of letting people know that the snowcat going to Four Points is heated and not exposed to the elements unlike the open sleigh ride to Ragnar's at Rendezvous read more

Dinner at Four Points - highly recommended, top-level dining experience! The service and personality from everyone involved was exactly what should be expected from this level of dining. A special thanks to John (Snow Cat Captain), Aaron (Lead Waiter) and Cliff (Experience Manager) for creating a great atmosphere and excellent experience. Food - We were a group of 10, so between us, we had most of the items on the menu - all great reviews! I had the lamb shank, which was tender and excellent. However, after seeing and tasting the beef filet, I would definitely order it next time. We have eaten at most (if not all) of the steak houses in Steamboat, and everyone agreed that this steak at Four Points may beat them all! Experience - Before unloading from the snow cat, Cliff does an excellent job of explaining the experience, setting the expectations for the night. To further improve your experience, I recommend that you preview the menu before or while booking. We had some early concerns about the fixed menu - but all 10 of us found something that we are still raving about! Service - Aaron was our server, and with his team of support, left no detail unserved. This is truly a fine-dining experience with both service and food quality that matches. Ambience - As skiers / boarders, we frequent Four Points during our days on the mountain (15 years now), so it was great to see the lodge transform from a ski break to a high-end, fine dining atmosphere - very well done! For a mountain restaurant, I'd have to say I was impressed with the fresh and original options. There is a full salad bar where salmon or other meats are mixed with high energy greens before your eyes. Soups are available as usual on the mountain. Their is a full sandwich selection line with many meat options. And yes they have sweet potato waffle fries in large baskets. I've found almost nothing on the mountain is ever cheap. I however was pleased that the prices at four points seemed to be more commensurate with what you actually received for a meal. Much better options than what you wind up paying for at some of the other mountain restaurants along the way. Four Points can get pretty crowded at lunch so be prepared search for a table as it can be a challenge finding a spot. Their are some AMAZING views out the back of the restaurant so grab a table there if you can. For a bonus, catch a seat in one of the many Adirondack chairs that face the view at the back of the restaurant. Seems like a great spot for chilaxing for a bit before you head back down the mountain to carve up some fresh powder. read more

Ahhhh.... Four Points. I walked in to the "new and improved" Four Points Hut (although it is not even remotely a "hut" anymore) and thought I had skied down the wrong run or something. Completely remodeled, TONS of room, all new food station, full bar. The old FPH was literally A HUT, where you had to cram in line to get one of about 2 food options (I think one of them may have been a Stinger Power Bar). I would stop by there, mid-morning and/or mid-afternoon to grab some water and a shot of tequila. Now, it's a full on party in the bar (people were getting drunk there abut 10:00 am....2 runs=beer time for many, apparently). Bloody Mary's looked AMAZING, although I stuck to my usual shot of Patron with a light beer chaser. The food is outstanding. Seriously. Back in the day, the options on ski mountains were limited to apples, pizza, burgers, and fries. Not anymore. Kale salad with quinoa and grilled veggies! Asian noodle bowl (that is actually delicious)? Greek yogurt parfait! Sweet potato fries! Chicken fettuccine alfredo! My dad is seriously addicted to the clam chowder. And it's ALL delicious! Love this place but docking it a bit because I have severe nostalgia for the old hut plus that dang winter greens, quinoa, chickpea and grilled veggie salad with my Starbucks coffee was running me close to 20 dollars a day last week. The Four Points Lodge changes from a cafeteria style stop for skiers during the day on the mountain to an incredible FOUR POINTS SNOWCAT DINNER destination. It is like a completely different place, looking like a beautiful restaurant in the clouds. The 5 course dinner is outstanding, the food, presentation & wonderful waiter staff is amazing. A true dining experience. Can't believe we have missed doing this in the past. Not for kids, this is an adult experience, highly recommended. read more

I really want to give a 5 plus rating, however, my husband and I felt that the manager should have stepped in when the neighboring table started dropping f-bombs every sentence when they started talking politics. I finally had to walk over to the table to tell them to have a more polite vocabulary. Our waitstaff should not have had to keep apologizing to us for the other tables behavior. Beyond that, it was a wonderful time and experience. There was enough variety in food that even if an item did not agree with your palate there was plenty of others that did. What an incredible experience!!! Well worth it. The food is amazing and be prepared, because it's a lot of food! Cliff, the general manger, is incredibly personable and is extremely attentive to detail. The waitstaff was superb. The cat drive to the lodge is an incredible experience. It was so much fun driving up areas on the mountain that we usually ski. Not recommended for young, young kids, but I took my pre-teen and teenager and they thoroughly enjoyed it. This and the lodge at the bottom of Larkspur @ Beaver creek are my two favorite "on-hill" restaurants. Four Points has done a great job of creating quick, creative gourmet entrees. Homemade pot pies, bison meatloaf sandwiches, bison/elk burgers and some pasta selections. As others have said it is more expensive than the other options on the mountain but you get what you pay for. read more

Very nice addition to mountain. Very pricy with $10 soup and $13 pot pie with frozen veggies. Somebody has to pay for it so it may as we'll be you. Carving stations and salad bars look great with solid profit margins for the ski corp. pre made burgers are ten bucks with doubles for 13 so you can figure out the math. Awesome! We've eaten at The Inn at Little Washington (frequently voted #1 in the DC area in the Washingtonian Magazine. Four Points was every bit as good, and maybe even better. The Inn prepares foods I don't frequently eat and made them delicious. Four Points prepares foods I've eaten often and makes them indescribably wonderful. Our server (Wyatt) was excellent and the Manager came to the table just often enough to assure the perfection we discovered in this gem of a restaurant. read more

We stopped in at Four Points bar for an afternoon drink. There were three people working at the bar. The seating alone the wall was fealty. We sat down after a couple left. They took their glasses up to the bar. There were dirty dishes and no less than eight glasses. I took them up to the bar. I noticed everyone else was sitting in piles of dirty dishes. At one point a staff member took a bin of dishes from behind the bar to the kitchen. On her return trip she walked right past stacks of dirty dishes and glasses. When we left all three staff members were standing together. I told them the place was fealty. They, made nasty remarks. Obviously they don't care and take no pride in their work. No tips in picking up dishes. We have been going to Four Points when it was nothing more than a restroom that sold granola bars. We will never return. But, I guess tthat does not matter because everyday there are new people. read more

I went here for the new night dining. Pre fix 5 course menu for 100 dollars. Let me begin- you arrive to the mountain and check in at the gondola for your reservation- the gondola takes you up to thunderhead lodge, if you are early they instruct you to grab a drink and relax, when the group is ready (your reservation and a few others) you are brought to a snow cat and the all terrain snow vehicle drives you up the mountain- if was very cool! When you get out of the snow cat the restaurant welcomes you by taking your coat and offering you a choice of red or white wine (complimentary) then you are seated. When seated the server brings a plate of charcuterie, then soup and salad, pasta- and during your pasta course a 11 year old violin player plays at your table- very swanky- meat then- I had the salmon and it was perfectly done but the caper sauce was a little strong (to be fair I am not a huge caper fan) dessert was a caramel gelato and fresh tiramasu. Servers were friendly and accommodating- actually crazy how they transform a daytime cafeteria into a nice evening restaurant read more

The new Four Points Lodge is beautiful. We were the first wedding held at this venue. And what a beautiful place to get married. The views are stunning in the summer-sunset was spectacular. This was a destination wedding and everyone had to travel to attend. Our guests were speechless with the beauty of the lodge and Steamboat in general.
