I and three friends sat down, ordering drinks and then food. Once it arrived, after a forgotten side dish, we began eating. The food in itself was very tasty, it was cooked well, satisfying and not overly expensive given the location of Black and Blue. I was not disappointed with the quality of the food or the preparation, although the complimentary salad was distinctively "complimentary". The restaurant has a nice ambiance, but the booth tables are far too small for 4 guests given the large and multiple accoutrements given. The service at Black and Blue is what really disappoints. After completing our main courses, we were kept waiting with empty plates for 20 minutes. During the meal, the waiting staff are intent on staring directly ahead, avoiding any eye contact so no spurious requests are asked of them. Once our table had been cleared, we decided to order a desert, but a further 15 minute wait changed our minds. Presented with the bill, and a further wait, we asked the waitress to remove the optional 12.5% tip from the bill. A harsh remark was instantly uttered, It is not a tip, it is a service charge! We tried to remark back that, had it been a 'service charge', one would've had to actually receive service, but she had turned upon her heal and briskly walked off. She, unbeknown to her, gave the only sense of urgency and speed we had encountered at the restaurant that evening. Overall, the general quality of Black and Blue on Wigmore Street seems to have gotten worse over the few times I've visited. The food is good! but they need to drastically improve the service.

The veggies were clearly farm local and fresh...not a canned veggie in sight!! I was a little disappointed in the tap list. They took up several handles with marginal beers from outside the U.K., and I had hoped for more local flair. That said, they did have TWO locals on draft, and both were excellent...I just wish there had been more. All in all, I'll certainly be back the next time in near Heathrow and want upscale pub food.

It is an ingenious use of space. - At the moment several artists are building things around the back - I guess it'll get more interesting as they finish them. - There is a cafe selling snacks using the ingredients that they grow. - They get local children involved in growing things outside the new build flats on York Way. * You can see a sign for the old Skip garden on York Way...but the actual garden has moved slightly further around. ** The rainbows (aged 5-7) LOVED this place, so I think it would be good to take other children. For breakfast, the options are between a continental or English breakfast. Both include a continental buffet, and the only difference between the two is that the English breakfast includes one hot entree dish. A continental breakfast may not sound very impression, but the food selection is plentiful and impressive here. The pastries and fruits are as fresh and delicious as it gets. Overall, the continental breakfast is not a bad deal for £30. For dinner, I had the fish and chips while my friend had the pork belly, which was the special that day. I was a little skeptical about having fish and chips in a high-end restaurant, especially when it had a healthy twist added on to it with the sweet potato puree and kale, but I was blown away. Who knew fish and chips can be made healthy but still taste so delicious? The pork belly was a delicious dish as well with its crispy skin but tender meat. Both dishes were so flavorful yet well-balanced. I was too full to eat dessert, but get the souffle for dessert if you have room in your stomach. The teas were very flavorful, and included selections like earl grey, hibiscus, rose, etc. My partner and I liked the offerings a lot more than what we had at the Shangri-La in Sydney, as they're both at similar price points when considering the currency conversion. Service was great here with excellent pacing, as we didn't feel rushed and the wait staff made sure to offer switching teas so we could try other flavors. We ended up leaving quite a bit after they stopped serving afternoon tea, but no issues sticking around longer since it's also a nice place to lounge and have an aperitif! The host who took down our last minute reservation that morning kindly offered us complimentary tea and cookies while he checked with the kitchen on whether there were enough desserts to accommodate us later in the afternoon. Although we were staying at a different hotel, we loved our experience here and will definitely consider staying at the HR Churchill for a few days the next time we're in London as it was nice walking around the area after.
