The Winter Garden restaurant in The Landmark Hotel is located at the centre of the hotel. The architecture with a glass roof and palm trees creates a holiday atmosphere, even on a rainy day. Live music and impressive food make this place even more enjoyable. Since I went to a Decanter wine tasting event at The Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, I had the plan to visit their The Winter Garden restaurant. I am walking past the hotel about once a week, and one Saturday afternoon I finally decided to go there for a late lunch. It was gently raining outside, and the light-filled atrium at The Landmark Hotel was nice and warm with palm tress spreading a mediterranean atmosphere. The Winter Garden is such a stunningly beautiful place that I could hardly believe that I was totally unaware of it until just recently. As if the building itself was not already amazing enough, the live music made it even better. They played kind of light, enjoyable music, mostly dominated by the piano, but I also think there were one or two strings present on some works - I couldn't actually see them playing for most of the time. Beyond classical pieces, they also played some more modern songs including music from The Beatles - fittingly I thought, not too far from Abbey Road Studios. I was a bit sad when the musicians took a little break. First thing after being seated, I went through the wine list. The selection by the glass is okay, but somewhat limited. I went for a Sancerre white wine from France and thought it was a bit too flowery or fruity for my liking. But then, it was still a pretty decent wine. The complimentary bread was absolutely delicious. While I am not the biggest fan of olive bread, this was warm and tasted great with soft, flavourful butter and crushed salt. A glorious start that could hardly have been any better. I wanted something light for lunch and after going through the complete menu, I ordered a risotto with butternut suqash. Now, I am no expert in risottos, but this dish was delightful. The flavours were bold, the rice had a bit of a bite to it and various seeds tasted distinctly different and added a nice little crunch to the plate. There was some spinach and I think even fennel. The roasted butternut squash also tasted great. The dish played with colours and textures. It was rich, yet not too heavy - simply a triumph of a plate. Of course, I could not resist and ended my lunch with a dessert. I chose a combination of white chocolate cream with blood orange sorbet. It looked beautiful, tasted great and was not too sweet. The passion fruit sorbet was a very nice palate cleanser. Throughout my lunch, the service was very good. Just at the end they were a little bit slow to bring the bill. But then, I was not in a hurry and enjoyed sitting around a little bit longer, listening to live music and enjoying the atmosphere. Despite The Winter Garden is part of The Landmark Hotel, it feels calm and relaxed and not busy, like hotels sometimes can be. For me, the light atrium and palm trees created an illusion of holiday. In summary, I cannot recommend The Winter Garden restaurant highly enough. This really is a place to enjoy, and I imagine, it would also be an impressive location for a date. However, you should not wait for a special occassion, just go there whenever you want to take a mini break with palm trees.

This restaurant is located in the glass atrium in the Landmark Hotel and is worth a visit even if you're not staying at the property. The cuisine is what I would describe as contemporary British, and the kitchen takes good advantage of seasonal produce. They have an excellent 3-course Sunday lunch priced at £35, and the entree options include a traditional Sunday roast served with roasted potatoes, carrots, and green beans. The chocolate and banana mousse is sinfully rich. They also offer an afternoon tea (£30) with one of the nicest selection of sandwiches I've seen at this hallowed tradition, and the apple and raisin scones, still warm from the oven, are sensational. The restaurant earns bonus points for discouraging diners from using cell phones at their table.

Amazing food and staff. Very helpful with food allergies. Everything was perfect, especially the finger sandwiches. Wonderful teas. Such a delight. Very expensive but for a special treat like a Christmas Holiday it is worth the visit. The Landmark Hotel is also an exceptional setting for this restaurant. Enjoy!

Got the gravy on the side, didn't think I'd use all of it, before I knew it, it was all gone. And you wouldn't think that the type of mash or type of gravy or type of sausage would matter that much, but they really do all have distinct flavors! I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!) Service was so helpful and friendly; I'm sure they love watching people fall in love with their food. Quick with refills and offered extra condiments if needed. Great air conditioning as well (always a plus), and I loved the green blacksplash and blackboard caligraphy on the walls as well. Bangin'

The Steak and Blackheart Stout Pie was delicious. The steak was tender and the mash was smooth. Definitely get the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The pudding was sweet, soft, and warm, pairing perfectly with the silky pudding and cold vanilla ice cream.

My wife actually booked dinner reservations in advance for Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, it was one of a few we did that for rather than just popping in. For some of these, Cheshire included, it isn't a bad idea if you want a full meal to do so as it gives you a table in a dining area that is quieter than the More raucous areas of the pub and guarantees you plenty of elbow room to dine. Every pub has fish and chips, and we had our share of it during our 8+ day trek, but my wife swears by this place as having the absolute best. I'd likely agree with that--we both had the traditional fish, chips, peas platter and every bite was great. We had a few slices of sourdough to hold us over while waiting for those plates. My wife had a bit of wine, and I tried a lager, lower ABV ale, and a pour of scotch opting for their "house" scotch. The spirits/beer menu was the same I saw used at a couple of what I think must be "sister" pubs all using the same distilleries and brewers. We were too full to try dessert. Service was friendly. Not sure if it was the vintage of my scotch or her wine, but price-wise this was by far our priciest pub visit in the area and I can't quite point my fingers at why, but I don't regret our meal and time here. As for historic interest, you can find pictures and placards of many of the pubs famous patrons from history--Dickens, Mark Twain on visits to London, etc. A first edition of a Dickens' book adorned a post by our table.

A really great way to try their variety of meats. First, the portion was absolutely huge - I definitely appreciated how much vegetables there were, the roasted brussels and carrots were delicious. Sides were all good - including the roasted potatoes and yorkshire pudding. The star was the meat of course, my favorite ended up being the lamb which was super tender and flavorful. Loved the crispy pork rind that comes with the pork roast slices and the gravy and sauces on the side really rounded out the meal, added a ton of flavor and made it fun to try the different sauces with the variety of meats. Service was great and everything came out really quickly! Definitely would recommend Blacklock to try the famous Sunday roast in London, you can't go wrong here!
