We dined here 5 days in a row for breakfast as guests at the Hyatt Regency. They offer a great breakfast buffet that's very comprehensive and offers a wide selection of options. You can expect a huge array of options from the actual buffet in addition to items that are cooked to order that you can get from the menu. The quality of food is great, and it's easy to not have the same thing twice because of all the selection. The service was for most part good, but there were a few instances where it took a while to get our order placed. Most days the service was top-notch and the staff works well as a team. The decor at The Montagu is sophisticated and in the same palette as the rest of the hotel. Soft muted grays with silver accents. It's a nice atmosphere that feels sophisticated and not stuffy. Overall, happy with our experiences at The Montagu and would definitely return. read more

Dropped in the Hyatt Regency to see if they would be in able to squeeze in a last minute reservation for afternoon tea and got really lucky on a Saturday before flying out of London the next morning! Everything tasted amazing including the sandwiches, scones and desserts. The sandwiches were on the larger size, so I'd recommend having a light breakfast before this as you will definitely leave stuffed! We also really liked the mushroom puff pastry with aged cheese that they served too. The teas were very flavorful, and included selections like earl grey, hibiscus, rose, etc. My partner and I liked the offerings a lot more than what we had at the Shangri-La in Sydney, as they're both at similar price points when considering the currency conversion. Service was great here with excellent pacing, as we didn't feel rushed and the wait staff made sure to offer switching teas so we could try other flavors. We ended up leaving quite a bit after they stopped serving afternoon tea, but no issues sticking around longer since it's also a nice place to lounge and have an aperitif! The host who took down our last minute reservation that morning kindly offered us complimentary tea and cookies while he checked with the kitchen on whether there were enough desserts to accommodate us later in the afternoon. Although we were staying at a different hotel, we loved our experience here and will definitely consider staying at the HR Churchill for a few days the next time we're in London as it was nice walking around the area after. read more

Located in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency London The Churchill, this hotel style restaurant has an open kitchen from breakfast all the way to late (10:30p) for light dinner or appies with drinks. The space is fairly large, divided into two distinct areas and a couple of couches with tables close to the fireplace. There is a good assortment of bar fare and traditional mains you'd expect from a British restaurant. We ate there twice, both times it was not crowded and the service was very attentive and friendly. The food was better than expected yet less expensive than we thought it would be. Portions are a good size. Tip - They add an automatic gratuity to the bill, noted as a central London tax type line item(which is 'optional'). It threw us a curveball as there was another spot on the bill to add a tip. We had to ask, if you thought the automatic gratuity was a real tax then you would unwittingly add a second tip. I believe the automatic gratuity was something like 13.5%, note less than gratuities at home which typically start at 20%. Good option for a solid meal or family dinner. It was late on a Sunday and after a day of sight seeing and a LOT of walking, we were famished and hungry. We also wanted to get a English Toffee pudding. There were not a lot of options in the area that showed up and we chose Montagu based on the reviews. Did not realize it was inside the Hyatt Regency. I am generally scexcellenteptical of hotel restaurants but Montagu is the real deal. The ambiance, food, and service were on point. Everything we ordered from the samosa to the burger to the pasta was excellent. The English Toffee Pudding was... awesome! Our neighbording tables turned around after hearing me scrape the bottom of the plate to get all the sauce. Not very British and how American of me...Oops. Needing a break & energy refreshment, a friend brought us here to Montagu for Afternoon Tea Seated immediately in this lush, welcoming environment, we found it hard to decide between Cream Tea or their special Breast Cancer dessert & today it was Chocolate Cake with Strawberry Jam 3-Tiered cage of Finger Sandwiches, Scones & Cakes come out for our Tea-indulgers & the other 2 in our group (me included) got the Cake There is a *thick* layer of dark chocolate layer of ganache & could hardly taste the Strawberry.....which was perfect for me since as many of you may remember, I have a strict policy to never mix fruit w/ my chocolate But when supporting Breast Cancer & enjoying a sugary treat, I couldn't help myself but indulge Tea sandwiches included Salmon, Ham, Carrot & Cumber, Egg Salad, & Cakes included Lime Macaroon, Ginger Cake, Biscotti Scones, sandwiches & cakes were very good & overall our Tea was deemed a success! Came here for my first afternoon tea with a larger group and it was pretty decent. The atmosphere was more on the upscale side. I thought it was nice, but it seemed like a standard afternoon tea. The sandwiches and scones were delicious and the variety was good. I would recommend this place for a nice, dressy afternoon tea, especially with large groups. read more

Was looking froward to this but I have to say that on the whole I was disappointed. The staff were helpful and attentive to begin with, but this was before the restaurant got a bit busier and a large group of ladies were having a wine and food matching meal. To begin with I had to remind them that the deal I had booked included two free Bellini's and the throw away comment was that some people have them at the end of the meal, not the fact that they had not offered me this option or even provided me with a wine menu. I tend to think of these kind of things as the basics!! So onward and upward from there I thought, which it was until the large group of female dinners arrived and then the chef and the matradee were all over them, even to the point where some food was being thrown away. I know this as the kitchen is visible from the dining area. Which was another reason I wanted to eat here. The idea of seeing your dinner being prepared After we had our main which was very nice and of good portion sizes we were just left waiting for our desert. When it arrived it looked very good however it was tepid at best. I had an orange and apple desert which came with custard and neither part of it was hot just tepid which was really disappointing. We tried to get the attention of staff but as the restaurant had got busier we were unable to do so. When someone finally came we just requested the bill at which point they asked how everything was and we told them the waitress, who's English was not the best, she went off and spoke to someone. When she returned we thought she vas going to offer replacements, something off the bill. But no she asked if we wanted coffees and not on the house either. So somewhere I was looking forward to eat at turned out to be rather disappointing. Not entirely due to the food but because when they got busy the quality of service dropped off sharply, so take heed if you go there pray it does not get to busy!!! read more

Breakfast Lovely! Not cheap but do drop the $50 and get the full Monty! The quality of the offerings are excellent. The cold breakfast is on one side of the restaurant and the hot on the other next to the kitchen. Want a poached or over easy egg? just ask the kitchen crew and they will fry you up one whilst you pile your plate with broiled tomatoes, roasted potatoes back bacon and sausages. read more

A restaurant within the hotel with an open kitchen and nice seating space. I was hopeful for this restaurant but left rather disappointed and probably will not be back. The service was terrible and given it did not start off busy in the restaurant this was worrying. We had taken up a deal that was here which included bellinis. Usually the waiting staff either ask if you would like them first or come with them. Neither of these options were presented to us and we had to ask. The response from the waitress made me feel bad for asking. The reality was, they probably forgot them. We were then left waiting for the wine menu and had to ask for this also. After this, we felt that we were not worthy customers and were treated as such as far as I am concerned. As the evening went on the waiting service got worse. We had a number of people serving us with most of the food, although well presented, decidedly not very rememberable apart from tepid custard for dessert. Custard needs to be hot! Not tepid. We were left hanging around for ages and think we spend more time waiting than eating. I'll not be back. read more

I went there a few times to The Montagu and I always had a good time. My favourites are their Goats Cheese Mousse & beetroot purée and the main course Dover Sole. They change their menu at least twice a year so it's always something new to try. The set menu especially is a great value if you consider its a 5 star hotel in the middle of the west end London. I also went to the Sunday Brunch which had so much food available- they served free flowing Pommery Champagne, white or red wine and soft drinks are also included in the price. The Montague is tucked inside the lovely, Hyatt Regency London Hotel. I booked the Sex & The City Afternoon Tea for my SATC-London group. I like these elegant, hotel restaurants - call me a snob (I don't care...lol) It's a sparkly yet cozy design. You'll feel comfy here while enjoying the lush surroundings. The ambiance has a gentle buzz & service was nice (a bit slow to get our order taken but did improve). We dined on the New York City tv programme inspired treats which were yummy. My personal favs were the veggie burger, hot dogs & grilled zucchini sarnies. The sweet treats were on point, although I found the 'Carrie Shoe' too sweet for my liking. The 'Samantha Apple-tini' gets big thumbs up!! I passed on the 'Miranda donuts' as I don't like them but the 'Charlotte Cupcakes' were also a delight. I sipped on Jasmine Pearl (Samantha) tea which was tantalising & fragrant. Of course, I couldn't pass up having a Flirtini (er, 2 actually) - good stuff! Be mindful of the mustard on the hot dogs - it's Colemans, not American and nearly blew our heads off because we weren't forewarned. Also, you can get one refill of hot dogs and one cold selection - win, win!! The lighting is then slowly dimmed as the sun sets and you're then treated to a pianist. This is usually scary because so many places get live entertainment wrong but this chap was good, not too loud and added to the already posh ambiance. The reasons for wanting to eat there were many, including numero uno it being my nephew's 21st birthday! (http://jessechelifer.yelp.com) I adore the Executive chef, Ben Purton, and his artistry in creating quality British cuisine; the architecturally designed dining room with windows overlooking Portman Square - we were blessed to be given a window table by the most interesting restaurant manager, Francesco Miglionico, who kept pouring champagne and bringing incredible bread selections to our table - wholemeal and plain, crusty and crusted with olives, meltingly soft on the inside - all baked in house. Franco now is at the Hyatt in Birmingham where we hope to visit and continue our delightful conversation on food and wine and Italy, and food! We enjoyed our starters of slices of goat cheese atop grilled yellow and green squash, juicy red tomatoes with the ubiquitous aubergine lending its purple heart, and smoked Scottish salmon with homemade Blinis and sour cream. No where on earth is the salmon as tasty as that from the Scottish lakes. 'All you can drink prosecco brunch?' Done! I was super excited when Tristan suggested a bunch of us book a brunch date here. I knew that it was a fancy hotel place, so was appropriately dressed when I showed up, however still got the 'up and down' frown from the manager. Dude, whatever, I make this place look good. As soon as I sat down, a waiter was straight over to offer me some prosecco and said I could change my drink once, but only once. Which seems pretty fair. During the whole meal, my glass never got beyond halfway before he was refilling it. Literally no idea how much I drank. As for the food, there was a salad and meat bar, with big cheese platters, cut your own bread loaves and a little man making small prawn cocktails and caesar salads. I felt like I could have eaten about 6 of those but the queue was kinda long. You can also choose your own pasta, risotto or pizza and they custom make it for you. They had steak and salmon too, but I didn't get a chance to try those. And the dessert, lemon tarts, cheesecakes, carmaleised bananas, and tiramisu! I had to rush off otherwise I would have totally gone to town on this. I have to say, the service was sublime. I felt very taken care of. There was a live band playing music and it was a hugely enjoyable experience. We paid 40, but as Grant mentioned it is 59 normally, which is probably too much for me to be able to afford to go back again. I'm going to give it 5 stars because I had a great time, it's not their fault I can't afford it every weekend. read more

A giant group of Yelpers came here to try out their New York-style unlimited Prosecco brunch. We showed up a bit early and they showed us to our seats. (Well they tried to show us to someone else's seat, but we figured that a table full of children was not our table.) Anyway, they don't start serving drinks until 12:30, so we did wait a bit, but once they did, they were really good about filling up the Prosecco. They also do Bloody Marys and a variety of other drinks. But only one at a time. And turns out that since they do a really good job of topping up the Prosecco, that's your best bet to get as much booze as possible. Food-wise there are a lot of options, as it is buffet style. They have a starter section, a mains section and a dessert section. The starters have a build your own salad part, some cold meats and cheeses, breads, and a few other salad. Apparently there's some salmon roe caviar as well. So there's a nice mix and you can go back and try as much as you like. For mains they had a bit of steak and salmon plus a build your own pastas and pizzas. The pastas seemed to only have tomato based sauces, but they had some risotto that turned out nice (if not a bit thick). The pizzas were the star, as they were quite tasty. Desserts consisted of a tiramisu "bar" (which was mostly just tiramisu with a few toppings. They also had some cheesecake and chocolate cake. All in all, it was a great time with a lot of food and drinks. And a lot of great people to chat with. The price ended up being £40 because we booked early and got a 20% discount. The regular price is £59 now, and I don't think I can justify the price for the food. While it was good, it is just a buffet with unlimited Prosecco, so it's not great. I know of other places that do all you can drink brunches that aren't on that high of a level and are still tasty. So while I'm glad for the experience, unless the price comes down somewhat, I won't be back. I've also got a bit of a problem with the term "brunch". I've never had brunch like this, mostly because it's not really a brunch. They claim it's New York style, but even in New York I've not experienced this sort of thing. read more

I had the most wonderful brunch at The Montagu as part of my stay at The Churchill. As soon as you walk towards the entrance you are entranced by the sublime live piano music which really sets the mood for the culinary delights ahead. Everything from the exquisite selection of meats and cheese to the impeccable Italian dishes of risotto, spaghetti and pizza, not to mention the rich picking for dessert of chocolate fudge cakes, cheesecake and caramel pecan tarts. All of this topped with an endless flow of Prosecco from an attentive and affable wait staff in the opulent surroundings one expects from the Hyatt Regency brand make this brunch a veritable playground of the gastronomic senses. I came to the Montagu with a large group of Yelpers for a UYE organised by Tristan J. I paid £44 for an Italian style brunch with unlimited prosecco. The food was situated at either end of the room with cold meats, cheese and bread on one side and larger dishes like spaghetti and meatballs and pizzas being made to order on the other. Overall I impressed with the food, which was of good quality. They were very generous with the alcohol top ups and my glass of prosecco was never below half full for the entire session. They also offer other alcoholic beverages but enforce a strict rule of one (alcoholic) drink at a time which I though was fair. The brunch lasted from 12:30 till 3pm which was a good stretch of the day. Brunch normally costs £60 but we had a cheaper deal. I would say that it was worth the £44 I paid but I wouldn't stretch to £60 as there is only so much food and drink you can consume in 2 1/2 hours. read more

I rarely ever have high end hotel type buffets in London, it's not a done thing, like Hong Kong (which is a thing apparently...) so after the gold elite event I wasn't picked for, some of the gold eliters liked it so much, they decided to organise a UYE! (Big thanks to Tristan for organising it and being on top of things!) I jumped at the chance. I turned up a bit late, skirt shorter than I expected for a posh hotel, and I'd run out of black tights. *STORY OF MY LIFE- feeling a sense of de ja vu as i'm writing this...* and was greeted to a large airy room and two food stations. One of which had cold cuts, salad making ingredients, appetisers and cheeses. And I thought to myself "THIS is why Yelpers chose this"- Meat and Cheese make us very happy yelpers, don't you know? TIP #1: You can add bacon to your prawn cocktail, like a winner, to make a surf and turf cocktail. YEAH. So, you know how a Cold buffet works, I'm not going to tell you, but did you know its an unlimited DRINKS buffet too? Apparently, thats how the new Yorkers roll, and I ain't going to argue. TIP#2: you can opt not to have the prosecco, and get a bloody mary instead or a bellini. or whatever. The second station was solely dedicated to hot food. They make the risotto fresh for you, and you can choose your pizza toppings. The salmon was crispy and flavourful and the baked potato sure looked fluffy but I didn't sample because... are you ready for it- TIP#3- leave the carbs til the end- the potato, risotto, pizza. Is it over? no, we still have dessert, The chocolate cheesecake- please come back to me when I've stopped drooling on my keyboard. I was so stuffed at this point, I couldn't even finish my marble cake and lemon tart. ROLL ME OUT THE DOOR PLEASE. I was definitely highly impressed with the service and the food, but would i be willing to pay full price? Not really, i#m not a big drinker so the alcohol would be wasted on me. But if i am looking to impress family friends who are willing to splurge a bit- I would probably take them here. read more

The Montagu's New York Style Brunch was an indulgent treat! And given the 20% discount for advance booking I took advantage. As you can imagine of the Hyatt this place is pristine and tasteful. Creams, browns, marble and chandeliers - I put a posh fock on 'specially for the occasion! Unlimited food and drink for the duration of their "brunchtime" - 12.30 to 2.45. So, let's start with the food. A salad bar offering cheeses, fish, meat and various other ingredients. I had some of the Tuna, roasted veg cheese and bread, and a shrimp salad with avocado. The hot food bar offered a choice of pastas, risottos, pizzas, jacket potatoes, etc... Tailor made to your liking. I had risotto with blue cheese and broccoli. The desert bar offering tiramasus, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, etc... So, this was the prosecco brunch. Although you were offered a variety of other libations. I stuck with the prosecco and my glass never emptied. Glass half full, turn my head away, turn back and the glass was full again. And at the end of service they went out of their way to ensure all the allocated alcohol for service was used, i.e.: a waiter approached me showing me the bottle and asked if I thought I could finish before end of service. And then the staff, stealthy, efficient and charming. A wonderful indulgent afternoon. read more

I can't really say anything bad about this hotel restaurant other then I left feeling really stuffed. They offer a 21£ , 3 course meal, with a Bellini, which is very sufficient. I ordered the carrot and ginger soup, potato dumplings on a bed of spinach (instead of mushrooms), and a British pudding with vanilla ice cream. I felt it was good value for dollar. The ambiance was nice with someone playing the piano and singing most of the night. Open concept space with incredibly high roof, and a nice lounge outside that makes for interesting people watching. read more
