We were happy with Thynk back in 2023 when they did our 2 bathrooms and electrical rewiring. So in December 2025 when our kitchen had a leak and damaged a large part of our floor, we reached out to Thynk to want to accelerate our plan to remodel the kitchen. Jennifer came and we started working on our initial design planning, including how we want to move the stove, laundry, sink areas around to maximum functional space. We have a large addition/remodel project and I reached out to Thynk via Yelp and got a quick reply from Lizette. Andrea reached out via phone to set up an in person consult and request our plans that we submitted to the city. I was impressed by the easy, professional communication. Eli (he said he was one of the company owners) came out to the site and we had a productive meeting. I was a little surprised he had not reviewed the plans before our meeting - he needed me to email them to him directly even tho I had already emailed the main email to Andrea. I suppose that should have been my first clue but Eli seems very enthusiastic about the project and said he would get a quote together "this week." I was surprised and gratified that Thynk seemed to so organized and prompt. Unfortunately and oddly, they have ghosted and become completely unresponsive despite reaching out multiple times via email and text. They have a ton of great reviews but after reading through them again I see that the majority are for small projects and landscaping. Searching for an honest contractor is overwhelming, I probably had 6 different contractors out to bid the job. The last one he talked to was Yoel. We found him and his company via Angi.com. We had purchased a property, built in 1936 that still had the original kitchen. Yoel had his kitchen designer come over first, and we chose our cabinets. Once it was close enough time to the cabinets being ready, he had all his sub-contractors lined up each day. Demo in 4 hours, rough electric in a day, rough plumbing in a day, I was shocked compared to past experiences where there's tons of down time, there was barely any and that was just because it had been raining and the drywall work needed more time to dry. Long story short: Yoel was very flexible with us adding different materials for the floor and adding on some extra work. We switched from vinyl flooring to tile and also adding some extra painting/mud work in two adjacent rooms to the kitchen. Unfortunately, we were not satisfied using Thynk for our bathroom remodel. If my husband and I had been well-versed in construction or hired a designer/project manager to oversee the contractor, perhaps we would have had better outcomes. However, this company demonstrated a lack of safety, communication, coordination, and management of our project. To begin, the initial design was not worth the money. It consisted of 2 small pictures for us to refer to whilst purchasing tile/hardware and was completely theoretical (i.e. the design didn't provide specific tile or materials to purchase). Furthermore, it seemed the designer lacked knowledge of product placement to ensure longevity of installations. For example, the mockup she made had grout lines latticed all over the top of the shower curb (for a small hexagon tile she chose), which we later learned (mid tile installation), could be detrimental. Apparently, grout lines on tile curbs in wet areas like showers can crack over time, allowing water to seep through and damage framing. Had we known this from the beginning (i.e. from the initial design) we would have avoided this pitfall by purchasing a granite slab. There were many other mishaps during the ~2mo. Installation (i.e. sections of tile needing to be redone, issues with the vanity, bathroom door, etc.), but we expected some setbacks. In fact, I would not be writing this review had I not felt the company jeopardized me and my family's safety. We fully trusted Thynk when we provided a copy of our house key to continue construction on our bathroom on days my husband and I were at work. Sometimes we would get a heads up on their arrival, and other times they would just show up. We were fine with that until one day we came home to our ENTIRE house filled with a thick, chemical smoke. No one had warned us about it. No one had opened a single window or turned on any fans. My husband and I couldn't walk into the haze without coughing and choking so we put on painters masks and ran through the house to open all windows and turn on all fans. When I asked Eli, the project manager, what was going on he reassured me that the "hot mopping" they had done that day was "non toxic" and would "clear out [that day]." However, when I researched the chemicals used, I found they can cause such ailments as cancer and autoimmune disease. I thank God I had coincidentally taken my dogs out with me out that day. Had I not done that, they would have been stuck breathing those chemicals for HOURS while we were away. It makes me absolutely sick to think about. Furthermore, the smell of the chemicals stayed in the house for 3+ days, even though we had every single window & door open, fans on, etc. I find it completely unacceptable that we were not given a heads up about this procedure before it took place as I feel it was a danger to our health and wellbeing. Overall, the bathroom itself turned out great, but I feel this was due to my careful oversight and ability to pivot and learn quickly. As previously mentioned, if you decide to utilize this company I recommend starting with a robust construction knowledge base or hiring a trustworthy designer/project manager to help. read more

When you work with an amazing contractor who stands by his work, it makes my job easier. I knew that he wanted the property to be listed for higher than any of the comps in the area and normally I don't like to take on those type of listings but when I saw the craftsmanship, quality of construction and aesthetics of Thynk, I had total faith that we would be the ones to set the BAR! Great experience working with Yoel and YS Remodeling. We wanted to renovate our backyard with new turf, and change the patio to include more pavers and bigger stones. TLDR: Great crew, upfront pricing, good communication, very happy with the results. (see photos). We have already told friends about YS Remodeling and Yoel. Feel free to reach out if you are deciding on a project. For our backyard remodel this went really well. What I was looking for: I was looking for a company that could a) provide good work/ be professional b) decent pricing/competitive/budget friendly c) good communication d) can make and understand my idea/vision of the backyard and make it happen. We wanted new turf, and to get rid of all the small pebbles and replace them with bigger stones, and pavers for the patio surrounded by rocks with it cut down the middle with more rocks. I reached out to 4-5 companies to get a quote, plus went to an artificial turf company just to do that portion and get a quote from them. It helped with comparisons and pricing. My father was an electrician for 40 years and in the construction of houses as well so I've heard stories about everything to watch out for - so it's good to get a few quotes. Side note: I actually started to lean towards going with another company - I liked how they were quick to respond to my emails and I felt that the owner was knowledgable about what he was doing and what I wanted. However, after a few lackluster interactions, one of which included not bringing proper samples and the negotiated price kept changing and didn't make sense, I quickly shifted gears and reached back out to YS Remodeling. And I'm glad I did. The Job: Once I chose YS Remodeling to do the job, Yoel came out for a second time to finalize the deal. He pulled out his tablet, sketched the project out, asked all the right questions, had the paperwork ready that showed he was insured, and a one-pager on his business, and payment schedule. He also had the turf sample (which was a much higher quality weight than then one the turf company quoted me). For the job he quoted me a price that was close to some others (actually a little less), but what I really liked is that he didn't change the price even though I asked him to adjust what I wanted a little bit. Don't get me wrong I don't mind if the price changes when you make real changes, but mine weren't big changes - and I only say that because Yoel assured me they weren't and he would maintain his quote. He also said "I know it's called an estimate or a quote but I don't work that way, I give you the price that I feel I can do the job. The price is what the price is." That reassuring me that he wasn't monkeying around. Note: If you make certain changes, or switch what you want, you should expect changes in the price.) Yoel with his sketch and his experience said that he would have to create a border around the pavers to keep everything intact and to make sure it all lined up nicely. My wife and I didn't want a border, but opted to defer to their expertise. If we needed a border so it looked even and straight, do a border, but if you could not put a border as we wanted and it still works, then consider that. They didn't need to put a border so we got exactly what we wanted. Note: Sometimes your vision isn't practical or possible, so be a little flexible. However, with YS Remodeling you can feel confident that they will figure it out with you. The Crew: The crew he brought in were diligent and hardworking and when I stopped them to make sure what I wanted was happening, they were always polite and understanding. At one point one of the workers said "it's not a problem, it's your backyard and you are paying for it." (It's important to just check in on whoever you hire because a lot can be lost in translation from you to a contractor to workers.) The final product: It's gorgeous. The turf is plush and beautiful. While they used a little of the road base that was already there, they still dug up everything and laid it out again, compacted it, and smoothed it out (all part of the job description). Yoel even got some decomposed granite and laid it on top (wasn't included in the job details). He said it would give it a little extra bounce. Maybe he saved a little on using my road base, but I didn't care - I personally don't like how much waste gets created. But the fact that he took it upon himself to add a little value to the job meant a lot. The patio with the pavers looks amazing. The river rocks are beautiful and everything looks exactly how I wanted. He checked in throughout the project. If I had notes or concerns to tell the crew, he told them.
