This August we had the pleasure of working with Elite Home Builders, specifically with Gabriel. He was great to work with, he had great ideas and was always available to go over any questions I had. Initially we hired him to paint our home and to replace a number of rotting fascia boards. He also helped me select a beautiful front door to update the look of our home, as well as replace an exterior side door and repainted and changed the hardware of our kitchen/garage fire door. When we had issues with some of the work done, Gabriel was right on it to make sure it was taken care of immediately. This type of attention is not always given with other people we've dealt with before. Gabe takes pride in his company to do an excellent job for his clients. After a month and a half since the job was completed, Gabe came over to assess the job, after we had a week of steady rain, to make sure we didn't have any other questions for him. We hired Elite Builders at the end of 2024 to build an ADU, with permits approved in January 2025. The project took longer than expected and wrapped in mid-October, but most of the delays came from normal construction hiccups and added work we chose along the way. We requested two EV charger outlets, which required a more involved panel upgrade, and demolition revealed a few structural issues that needed extra support. These changes increased the cost, but nothing felt out of line for the added scope. Elite Builders was not the lowest-priced option we considered, but also not the highest. Gabriel was our main point of contact and the strongest part of the experience. He is knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely tries to help. He added a couple of items at no charge, stayed available by text throughout the project, and even sent an edible arrangement to thank us for our business. His effort and attitude made a real difference. My interactions with his partner, Sheron, were not as comfortable. His communication style made some conversations harder than they needed to be and it is something I would consider carefully if deciding on the company again. A few quality items needed follow-up, but everything was addressed in the end and the finished ADU looks great. We worked with Elite Home Builders on our ADU, which was a two car garage conversion in our backyard, and we're really happy with the final result. It's now a flexible guest room and office that also doubles as an indoor/outdoor entertaining space. The custom layout we came up with together works perfectly, and the passthrough window and outdoor bar have already become the star of the backyard. Guests keep commenting on the workmanship, the attention to detail, and how thoughtful everything feels. A special shoutout to Sharon, who was fantastic to work with. He kept everything organized, stayed in close communication, and made the whole process feel manageable even when things got complicated. Gabriel was great too and really helped us think through finishes and the smaller details that make the space feel complete. Like any construction project, we hit a few bumps along the way. The project took longer than expected, mostly due to a subcontractor delay and a very nit picky inspector who required a lot of extra steps. To their credit, Gabriel & Sharon stayed on top of both issues and chased everything down until it was resolved. The final price stayed within the contingency we planned for and the main overages were tied to the inspector's requirements. They were also super accommodating with the smart home upgrades I wanted to do myself. They ran low voltage conduit between the main house and ADU, let me pull ethernet and speaker wire after framing, and even coordinated timing with an external HVAC specialist so we could install the complex minisplit setup I wanted. Every crew member who came through was courteous, respectful, and careful. The finishing work, especially the painting and drywall, was excellent. We had some major problems in our master bathroom due to an improper bathtub installation from many years before. Unknown to us, the bathtub floor had slowly cracked and rotted, and water was leaking into the subfloor, causing the subfloor wood to gradually rot. We finally realized there was something wrong when the floor of the tub broke through, and we started looking for someone to help us. We interviewed many contractors, most of which walked away from the job, or grossly underestimated what it would cost to fix it. We were very disillusioned and getting desperate. Thankfully, we called Elite Home Builders. Gabriel came out the next day to look at the problem. He accurately assessed our situation at the beginning. He correctly diagnosed that we had extensive water damage under our bathroom and laundry room floors, requiring a complete tear down and remodel of the master bath. He showed us where the floor was weak, and sagging. I was sad to say it, but I knew he was right. Gabriel prepared a professional contract and proposal. I have worked as a Government Contractor for decades and prepared many proposals myself, and I congratulated Gabriel on his contract skills. He addressed every concern I had, and included a detailed statement of work, estimate, and payment schedule, together with a handy folder to keep all of the related documents organized. I was very impressed with his professionalism. Once on contract, the work got off to a quick start. The work continued pretty smoothly. We knew in advance there might be some things like the laundry room floor that needed repair, and when extra things came up Gabriel created a professional "change order" to document any additional work. As with any contracting job, unexpected things happen. There were a few concerns, but when I brought them up they were quickly addressed. Remodeling can be stressful and unpredictable, Elite Home Builders helped to minimize these factors. Certainly, no contractor is perfect. I messaged Gabriel through Yelp, he called back and gave me so much information that I had not conserved about an upcoming project. He was up front about what the potential cost could be, understanding there are no guarantees until he comes out and looks.
