Office staff were nice but misinformed and confused about whether or not they took my insurance. We figured it out in the end. I was frustrated at the issue but the office staff were always kind and patient. Even the sweet lady in the billing office who handles insurance claims was very helpful and kind. The facilities at USMD were immaculate. The waiting area was huge and pretty empty. Dr. Pasala is based out of Arlington but they work out of USMD in an OB/GYN office every Thursday in NRH, which is very convenient. The receptionist at the front desk...she was really nice. I've encountered a lot of horrible and mean front desk personnel in my lifetime, which reflects the rest of the office. But this wasn't the case, she was really nice here at USMD. At my appt. Dr. Pasala's nurse Jennifer was extremely, extremely nice, helpful, and patient. Dr. Pasala was all of the above and also very knowledgeable, thorough, personable, and was very kind. He welcomed questions. And he made us feel really comfortable. I will update after my next visit. Getting a biopsy, which is only done on Fridays at the Arlington office. UPDATE::: The biopsy went smoothly. No bruises, no pain, no complications. Results were on time. Dr. Pasala called to give the results himself and left a VM when I wasn't able to take his call. Even though he is out of the office Thur afternoons, his nurse Jennifer is always reachable and always returned my phone calls! Dr. Pasala & Jennifer are a fantastic Duo!!!

First and foremost there isn't anything that I feel like I can't talk to him about. Then when I get home and remember that I forgot to ask him something, I am able to send him an email, which he is quick to respond on. I like that I'm able to either have labs done in his office or somewhere else and I can email results to him. When I go to his office I rarely have to wait and he always find a way to work me in. What I like most about her is that she's very personable, listens, and hears what is being shared. I'm always happy to see her or Dr. Roopa. Amanda made everything about herself, and I had to sit there and listen to her tell me about her own journey over and over at each visit. She constantly talked over me, one-upped me, and continued to make every appointment about herself to the point my husband said something to me about it when I didn't even bring it up to him...he never notices anything, so I was shocked. I never felt heard, and though I have no doubt she knew what she was doing, Dr. Roopa listens and says that I know my body, and would adjust accordingly and it always worked. Amanda would always tell me what worked for her, and didn't listen when I told her I knew my own body, and her methods for herself were not working for me, even though I tried them. She did give good advice, but it wasn't advice I needed at the visits. I haven't had issues with the front office staff or the nurses/techs. My BIGGEST complaint besides Amanda, is the fact I cannot see Dr. Roopa every visit. I hate going back and forth between her and the medical assistant. I have no issue with the current MA I see, but I don't like not seeing the same doctor every time. When I explained this to the front, they told me it isn't possible to see only Dr. Roopa. I've never had a practice like that before, and I already have medical anxiety as it is. and seeing different people triggers it badly. I explained this to the front and they wouldn't accommodate me. However her office manager is awful, very condescending and impatient. The practice is also overly reliant on a cantankerous patient portal that stinks, and for online payment they only accept f'n PayPal, not credit cards. Last fall she announced she would no longer accept most major medical insurance like Blue Cross PPO. I spoke with the doc about her decision and her move to a prepay or semi concierge model. She doesn't have the customer service background to handle that correctly but she was adamant that she couldn't live with the finances of the funds provided thru insurance. Her new office rates were exorbitant so I moved on to a new Endocrenologist.
