The wait time is going to be long with this being a new restaurant in the city of Tyler. We waited an hour and a half to be seated. DO NOT FORGET TO CONFIRM YOUR SPOT IN LINE! When we were seated our waitress Danielle helped us with menu items and we ordered. Margaritas are good! Boudin balls are an 8/10. Gumbo on the Louisiana scale is a 6-7. My husband enjoyed the roast beef po boy. I ordered the shrimp and grits but my food came out incorrectly. I subbed white rice for grits and still received grits. I ended up eating chips and queso instead so I wouldn't have to wait. All the desserts are delicious! We ordered one of each to go to share with our kids when we got home. I will be going back soon to try actual food instead of appetizers. read more

First and Foremost... SERENA! Absolutely the best server we've had in East Texas since moving here. Period. Despite her being busy, she was on top of everything and gave us the best service that rivals if not exceeds a dining experience on the Las Vegas Strip. For Appetizers we had Stuffed Mushrooms (very cheesey and good) and Fried Crawfish Tails (Loved it and the dipping sauce was amazing)! Our party had ordered Shrimp and Fish baskets that also came with tarter sauce, cocktail sauce, fries and hushpuppies. We were all impressed. Fish was fresh. Shrimp were HUGE! Fries were perfectly crispy on the outside. Hushpuppies were tasty. You only get two per basket and I wish they would throw at least two more in. One person had an off menu grits plate and it's all she can talk about now. We found our favorite spot in Tyler! This is it. Atmosphere is cool, comfortable, and slightly loud but not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. We enjoyed the music playing. We tried to make reservations on the phone, but they said they were not accepting reservations and they weren't busy. When we got there we waited 10 minutes to be seated. As a business owner myself, I truly dislike leaving negative reviews. I know businesses have bad days, and I almost always give places multiple chances before making a judgment. Unfortunately, after several visits over the years--with only one positive experience--I can honestly say this last visit was enough for me to decide I won't be returning. My family drove an hour to visit the new Tyler location on Friday evening. We expected a wait because it was a grand opening, and we were completely okay with that. We arrived around 6:15 p.m. and were told the wait would be about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. We were also told we would receive a call when our table was ready. Instead, nearly two hours passed, and we discovered that our place in line had essentially been lost because of a text confirmation requirement that was never explained when we checked in. We weren't the only ones. Multiple customers around us had the exact same issue. I also witnessed another large party that had been waiting for hours being removed from the list, and one of the hostesses became argumentative and unprofessional with frustrated guests. The hostess stand appeared to be staffed primarily by very young, inexperienced employees during what was probably one of the busiest nights this restaurant will ever have. Grand openings should have experienced management and staff available to guide the team, and unfortunately that did not seem to be the case. Once we were finally seated after 8:30 p.m., our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, attentive, and doing everything she could despite being spread far too thin. She was the bright spot of the evening. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience continued to decline. The cocktail I ordered tasted like pineapple juice with no alcohol, and I was told the bar staff was still learning. We waited until nearly 9:00 p.m. just to place our food order. Then we waited again while table after table around us--many seated well after we were--received their meals and left. By nearly 10:00 p.m., after almost four hours in the restaurant and still without receiving our food, we decided to leave. We never saw a manager come to our table to apologize, explain the delay, or attempt to make the situation right. My husband finally went to the bar to ask what was happening, and we were simply told our table was taken care of and that we could leave. It honestly felt as though our food had never even been prepared. I understand opening a new restaurant is difficult. Delays happen. Mistakes happen. But poor communication, disorganization, and the lack of any effort to recover a customer experience are what made this so disappointing. I sincerely hope they work through these issues because Tyler deserves another great restaurant. But after giving this chain several opportunities over the years, this experience was enough for me to decide I won't be back. read more

My husband picked up some Togo food from here. I have seen their posts on tik tok and have wanted to try it out. When our new born is a little older we will definitely be going to dine in. Their food is amazing. With Togo food you only expect so much, considering travel times and items lose their fresh off of the grill luster. Not with this place. I had a shrimp poboy and it was fabulous. They LOADED that sucker up. Shrimp was falling out with every bite! Their bread isnt dry (which is our normal complaint with poboys) and that thing was huge. My husband got the roast beef poboy and it looked amazing too. Kind of a take on a French dip (comes with au jus). He loved it. We also got a quart of gumbo- it tastes like it's made fresh every day. Tons of shrimp in it, they definitely don't skimp on protein. Super yummy and we have leftovers for dinner. On top of all of that we got a 1/2 gallon of frozen margs Togo. Oh. My. Gosh. I always worry they will be either too sweet or too boozy. This is the perfect frozen marg. I don't feel like I am going to get a headache from sugar and the booze level is perfect. Yall know what you are doing and we can't wait to come back. My husband wanted to also give Lee a shout out!! He was the bartender that took care of him and he has nothing but great things to say. Tex-Mex meets Cajun with a side of organized chaos. I'll admit, I'm probably reviewing this one at a slight disadvantage becasue I'm not particularly a Tex-Mex or Cajun girl. But I'm a fajita girl, and let's be honest- you really can't mess up fajituas... right? this is a new location of a popular local chain, so naturally, we had to give it a try. We went with the gumbo and fajitas, washed down with mango blended marg' and a beer. The food was good - not "OMG take me back tomorrow" good, but the perfectly respectable. My mango marg, however was sweet enough to qualify as dessert. Now the service.... well, bless them. The place was craaazzzy packed, and the staff was clearly hustling. We snuck into the bar, wich was definitely the move, but their were quite a few mixed - up orders flying around. Need salt? utensils? another drink? Better make eye contact with the bartender, which, in a packed bar, felt a little like trying to win the lottery. To be fair, I'm giving them some grace becuase this place was slammed. They don't take reservations, and while you're supposed to be able to add your name to the waitlist, that feature wasn't operational during our visit. Plenty of parking though so there's that! This was our first visit to Tia Juanitas, but it won't be our last. We had Oysters Royale (I think) which was delicious. And The Big Ricky which is massive and served on a raised tray/table. Everything on it was really good and the portions were huge. Made for 2, but built for more! Everything was really well seasoned. The chips and queso were good, the salsa a bit cilantro heavy. The alcoholic drinks a little weak but tasted really good. Our servers were amazing! They were so attentive & accommodating! Thank you Kat & Brie! First of all, this is a bright, cheery, comfortable ambience. The booth seats are so comfortable and easy to slide across. The service was great. The food was hot and well plated. We ordered fajitas and the chicken was tender and good, the flour tortillas delicious, but we couldn't even chew the strips of beef. Very tough. The gumbo was good, but note to the chef, a slice of hot crusty bread would have been much better than a few crackers. The service was exceptional. She was attentive without hovering and checked often enough to keep things good. Now... the music..... oh my God. Please tell me why restaurants need to play music so loud that you can't hear your dining companions or your server. When did this become the norm? At this particular day, the lunch crowd was on the older side and everyone we noticed was having a hard time hearing. Note to manager: pay attention to your dining crowd. At lunch, if the crowd is older, turn the fricking music down! At dinner, if your crowd is younger, blast it to the moon. Disappointing. The shrimp in both the nachos and the quesadilla were cold. Paid extra to have crab added to the nachos, but all I could find was little bits of ground up seafood and couldn't recognize it as crab. The other two entrees were just okay. The only entree that didn't disappoint was the kids shrimp. The fried pickles were good. The service was great, but don't think I'll be back for the food. read more
