I just wanted to share an update that I am still loving Tia. I am so happy they take my insurance and I have really enjoyed a ton of benefits here. They even hosted a book club earlier this month for the book Pleasure Activism. I wasn't able to attend but what a treat that there is a space offering great full-human care to women. I have had 2 annual exams here and it's also the best experience I've had with blood draws, which matters to me because I am a fainter. I'm super grateful to be a Tia patient and love coming here. Like a lot of people in the reviews here, I loved the initial idea of Tia and the aesthetics - however, my experience here was quite awful. I went in with intense, debilitating pelvic pain/awful periods. I guessed it was endometriosis since all of my symptoms checked the boxes - I had an ultrasound and exam where nothing out of the ordinary was found. I was told, "you probably just have painful periods - I don't think you have endometriosis and I just recommend taking strong pain meds to help." That was it. Nothing else - no interest in solving my pain or making sure that all avenues had been explored to find the root of the problem. I asked for a referral to an Endo specialist because in my gut I felt it was Endo and wanted to be sure. My care provider at Tia was basically like, "I guess... I'll put in the referral" No follow up - no call/email after months. Come to find out, no referral was put in and I wasted months in severe pain! I got my outside regular primary care doctor involved who found a specialist, sent a referral and within 2 weeks I was in and getting surgery scheduled - and guess what, it was Endo like I suspected! I had laparoscopic surgery and had the Endo removed significantly improving my pain/quality of life - As a place that claims to put females health care first, it's wild how ignored/overlooked I was - and, how completely incorrect the "professional" I saw was. So glad I stuck with my outside primary care team and my gut instead of trusting this place. Definitely do not recommend, and given how many insane stories women have provided here, I should have known better! read more

Well this place started out great! But then...... their true colors definitely came through. This place would collect co- pays and then literally a year later they presented me with a bill over $400.- claiming that billing takes time. Well that is curious because most doctors can bill within a month. We recently moved out of state and I called to speak with Dr.Robbins about transferring my medical records and a possible referral for my current medication.... - instead I got an ill trained girl on the other end of the phone who conveyed to the doctor that I was looking to have her prescribe my prescription over state lines. I heard nothing from these people for 3 days....... meanwhile I am counting on them. I received an email explaining to me they cannot prescribe my medication to me and to work with my new doctor. THAT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!?! I replied and basically reiterated what I was needing to do and got a prompt response from some bot lady named Corina. She assured me if I filled out the form and responded to the email thread we had she would do it right away. Well no shocker here -I AM STILL WAITING! I filled out the forms, I emailed care@asktia.com. responded to the email thread AND even left a voicemail. What the heck does a person need to do to get their medical records transferred from this god forsaken place!?! read more

What a total scam. I've tried multiple times over the past week to get in contact with Tia to ask them about their billing. I have PPO and am shown that my insurance is not covering appointments even though Tia says it is in network. I have been ghosted and receive nothing but marketing emails from Tia. Tia is an amazing provider for lower level care like light dermatology, gynecology exams for std's or pain, birth control consults, nutritionists, acupuncture, etc. I've gone to them for other small medical issues like these and had a great experience. The office is clean, safe, easy to access, staff is all very friendly, and things move quickly which is awesome. BUT !! if you have a more serious concern like skin cancer as I did, this is not the right place for it. They are a nightmare to get in contact with over the phone as they mainly like to keep contact to their in site messaging (3+ business day reply time), they message you their own format of lab results with hardly any of the information quest has available on their site, they don't give referrals unless you are a paid member, and you will have to do a lot of the heavy lifting on your own like taking the results to a specialist, finding that specialist, interpreting your own results, faxing labs, notes, and charts, etc. Calls will not be returned, it's impossible to reach the SF specific desk (after months of communication issues they finally gave me the extension, 166 which gets you to them ), and from what I understand most of the doctors are only in the clinic a few days a week if that-- so trying to get a hold of the same person who saw you takes a long time-- and with serious issues, the anxiety of waiting and being on a time crunch to get things done before they spread-- Tia was a flop. Which is sad because I actually loved the doctor who saw me ! I will still come here for certain things because I love the clinic itself, its mission, and its values but keeping in mind that they are not the place to come with things that are timely and more serious. read more

I have not actually used this service. This review is about my hour-long ATTEMPT to use it. I could not get an appointment at Kaiser for a cortisone injection to treat a cystic acne outbreak, so tried to find out how much this would actually cost to pay out of pocket. Zero info about fees on the website. You have to enter your credit card and click "book" without knowing how much you will be charged. Is this even legal? I called to find out the cost before I clicked and waited on hold a long time, got disconnected and called back, waited on hold a long time again. When I finally asked my question, the person did not know the answer and put me on hold again to find out. I will save you the time, if you decide to proceed: if you do not use insurance, the initial visit is $250 and the cortisone injection is $125. read more

My overall experience with Tia was negative and I have detailed why below and I have included a screenshot of my message to them regarding not being able to schedule a mental healthcare appointment; you will see that the date I sent the message was August 27, 2024, letting them know that they did not have an appointment available until December, 2024. She did let me know that they can provide outside referrals so that I could be seen sooner, but doesn't that defeat the point of paying for a Tia membership to have your care provided by them vs. another provider? I found a promotional code last year in July to purchase membership at a reduced rate. My initial intake call was supposed to be over video, but instead it was a phone call due to their server being down. We spoke for around 5 minutes over the phone regarding my goals as a member, and I let them know that receiving care from one source vs. multiple practices was why I joined. I let her know that I have mental health diagnosis and will need services and medication for my diagnosis. The person I was speaking to did not know if Tia practitioners could prescribe my mental health medication (which are very common meds), and I wouldn't be able to be seen by a mental health provider for over a month. My 5 minute initial intake phone call was $35 after insurance. I became discouraged after the call because I saw that while the concept of Tia was appealing, they likely wouldn't have the ability to provide the very basic care I need, such as scheduling an appointment with a mental health provider in time to receive a prescription for the mental health meds I take daily. It was also alarming to learn during my initial intake the person who I assumed was a healthcare practitioner (I assumed this because they billed my insurance for my 5 minute call with her) did not know if they could prescribe my daily meds...why would a healthcare provider not have the ability to answer this question? I did not schedule any additional appointments and continued receiving care from the providers I saw prior to joining Tia. Fast forward to this week - I reached out to them via message in their online portal and via phone regarding wanting to give membership to Tia a second try, asking if they could restart my membership (for another year) without having to pay the fee again since I did not utilize any services or schedule any appointment after my initial intake call, and explaining my experience in detail on why I became discouraged and did not seek further treatment. The Tia Care Team person I spoke to when I called said that they didn't know if it was possible for them to restart my membership to give Tia another try without me paying the membership fee again, but that Tia now offers two options: a membership that is paid and includes concierge (what I had signed up and paid for last year), or Tia essential with does not require a membership, but provides access to schedule and receive treatment from their providers. I was told that with the latter "Tia doesn't help you with all the complicated billing stuff with insurance", and I'm still not sure what that means. Via the portal, I was told by two separate people from the Tia Care Team that I would need to repurchase membership to receive the same benefits I had paid for last year. The fee is $300 per year/$25 a month if you pay monthly or $240 per year if you pay annually. I did not proceed with restarting my membership because I don't want to pay for a service again that I wasn't previously satisfied with. The two individuals from the Care Team thanked me for my detailed explication of my experience, but did not mention or address the reasons why I was dissatisfied with my previous experience, a basic step in customer service. Because of this experience, I now view Tia as a money grab business. The frills and pretty office decor look nice in the promotional pictures they use for ads, but it doesn't compensate for their lack of customer service or ability to provide basic care. read more

I went for an annual skin check. The physician was on time and thorough but had another staff take photos of some moles for future reference. I waited 40 minutes for the other staff member to take two photos on an iPad. I understand that they're understaffed but why can't the physician take the iPad photos so I didn't have to wait 40 minutes? read more

When it comes to mental health I had to go elsewhere due to too many scheduling conflicts on their end But overall they do a good job! Super nice staff, make you feel comfortable and cared for. I signed my wife up to hopefully find a more female friendly doctor that would actually listen to her and that was not our experience. Tia charged me for the 3 minute check in without any openness about the fact that it was optional or that it is considered an appointment. I was told by their billing department that they were in network and my appointment would be covered with a small copay. However, this was not the case. When I asked for clarity about the multiple charges, I was told that they never said my appointments would be free. I am a 24 year old, pretty healthy, average female with little to no health problems. I rarely see my PCP, usually only when there is something urgently wrong, maybe a bad cold and need a doctors note, or obviously broken bone, etc. For the most part, I see my PCP once a year at Kaiser, so I thought going to Tia once I switched insurances wouldn't make a huge difference in my overall health. I think Tia is great for people who don't have severe health issues. If you're just an average gal looking for a PCP, not many issues, then I'd totally recommend this place. I don't think I'd recommend older folks with serious health issues to come here. Also, for the older folks, I can imagine there being an issue with the technology, since this place uses the Care Portal to communicate everything. Old people might not know how to navigate the website as easily, but it isn't very hard to use so I think they can definitely be taught. I think downloading an app would be more helpful. And I think for the older folks, if they can book their next app while at the clinic, instead of waiting for a message from the Care Team. I also don't think you can book any appointments with an MD here, which I personally don't mind as much because I'm generally healthy, so in my case, seeing an NP is just enough, but not sure if it's the same for others. I do like the Tia Whole Health Exam. It does feel like the staff here really cares about the comfort of their patients. Everything feels catered, clean and inviting. I'm still pending the third step, which is the follow up to discuss the blood work and lab results. I like how they really want the patient to pick what is the biggest health concern, it is catered to your needs. A few things.. for a whole health exam, I was expecting that they actually take my weight and height. Instead, I just told the MA what my last weight and height was. Since I usually only go in once a year, I think it would be best to do the actual weight and height. The MA also said I was going to get a pap at this visit, but I knew in my head I didn't need one because I just had one two months ago and had told the NP that as well. When the NP came in, she also re-confirmed that I didn't need a pap. Nothing really bad, but maybe the organization needs better communication skills? Despite all of that, the clinic itself is really inviting and cozy. I'm looking forward to my follow up results and more appointments to come. Absolutely terrible experience. I spent 1.5 months on different antibiotics they kept prescribing with zero improvement. Long waits, impossible to reach any doctor, no follow-up. They made me do three swabs -- which feels excessive when they should've figured things out after one, maybe two. I ended up with a severe rash all over my face, neck, chest, and shoulders -- and I've never been allergic to anything before. They completely destroyed my vaginal flora, and now I have months of recovery ahead. They never mentioned probiotics or antihistamines -- not until I came back after a month and a half and basically begged for them. And after all this hell, I STILL have symptoms and nothing is cured. A gorgeous health care space that values the opinion and voice of clients - harder to find in SF than you'd think! I joined Tia out of desperation. I switched health care providers at work and came to find that no medical facility (UCSF, Dignity, Sutter) in the city was accepting new clients until 2024, except for Tia. I was able to book an appointment within 24 hours of my insurance approval. Truly amazing! Tia has been extremely communicative about my health care plan - sometimes overly communicative. It does have limitations in service - quite a waitlist for a psychologist and some procedures - but for someone in relatively good health, they meet all the needs I have at this time in my life. Their in house acupuncture is a godsend - I felt completely healed in three days. One downside is the hours (nothing after 5 in person) and no weekends. But there is a lot on site that they validate for! read more

I had enjoyed my time with Tia as they have excellent staff and a facility here in San Francisco. However after 2 1/2 years of using their services, I felt like there was a constant struggle with their billing department to code appointments correctly and process efficiently with my in network insurance company. Would not recommend my friends or family here as the billing department's faults make the healthcare and wellbeing services that they offer more stressful and inaccessible. I had the best experience at Tia! Everyone in the staff is very friendly and kind. When you walk in they offer you drinks like tea and sparking water. As shown the photos, it's the cutest health clinic that is warm and welcoming. The women that drew my blood (I believe her name was Jody) was so fast. I closed my eyes and it was done. I have a big fear of needles so I hate when they take forever to draw blood. Highly recommend! Great care! read more

Prettying disappointing service. Their value proposition is supposed to be convenance and coordination of care. On three separate occasions in a one month period they gave me incorrect referral information and I had to hunt down providers myself. They consistently called in referrals incorrectly, which I had to do leg work on my own to correct. One of the worst ones: they scheduled me for two back-to-back blood draws (I'm being treated for anemia!) and I had to be like "can this just be one draw?" Another bad one: it took me forever in the system to find an appointment time I could do for a primary follow up on a blood pressure medication, and I called two weeks in advance to get a prescription refill. They were like "no appointment with logs, no refill" and I was like "I only have 4 days of medicine left and the next appointment I can do is in 10 days, so the logs will be useless." I was caught in this loop for several days before someone just refilled the Rx so I would actually have been on it for the check up about it. There were two or three more unforced errors like this. You will feel the whole time that you are talking to an AI script. If you are in good health with very simple concerns, this could work for you. But if you have a complicated women's health situation or menopause, you will not feel the love here. read more

This entire process was great, from the friendly receptionist, calm vibe and decor in the space, to my doctor. I came here after my regular gyno told me the earliest she could see me was FOUR MONTHS AWAY! I found Tia online and was able to make in appt in days, not months. The care was kind, empathic, and thorough. My doctor, Emily Lu, listened to all of my concerns and I was not rushed in any way. I highly recommend Tia to anyone. The cherry on top is the comforting decor (they even have blankets in the lounge and socks if needed in the exam rooms). read more

I wanted to like Tia so badly...but to say they're a flop is an understatement. I had some breakthrough bleeding that started in November. It felt like having to jump through 15 flaming hoops to get seen in a reasonable amount of time. I had to do a telehealth visit first. The NP did not show. It took a week to reschedule. There was some soft apologizing on their behalf but it seemed like total fluff imo. Finally, I got to go to the clinic. They kept pushing acupuncture and therapy...both of which I didn't have a need for. I didn't see an OBYN. I just got blood work done. Then I had to schedule a follow up exam for a pelvic exam. On a different day. I also was told that I would need to schedule an ultrasound. On a different day. Bear in mind I live in the East bay. I asked why this could not all be done in the same day, they told me that they have specialists in on different days. Weird and inconvenient. I saw my OBYN, who was nice but not the most helpful. I let her know my Family history of fibroids...which she seemed to blow past. She couldn't figure out what was wrong with me but did detect something else from my lab work...which was sent to me via message. Imo this bedside manner was curt. Is it really that hard to pick up a phone? I never ended up moving forward with Tia; instead I went to Planned Parenthood. Their nurse practitioner was able to address that I was indeed correct about fibroids. It was removed two days later. Boom. Easy efficient medical care. I understand that in 2023 we want to digitize everything, but there is a tremendous benefit to doing things "old school" like having a phone number to contact them. Instead of making your clinic Instagramable maybe focus on creating more seamless processes and being cognizant of various use cases for your patients. Big fail. read more

I randomly decided to try Tia this year after I decided to leave my old dr practice where it would take over an hour to be seen for 15 min. Getting the yearly checkup was really easy. Although they do ask for you to fill out a lot of information to sign up, it's worth it. So far I've had the three yearly checkup appointments (virtual, in-person and a virtual follow up), plus one birth control change, and a quick needed day of appointment, and a couple individual therapy sessions (which yes sadly they canceled March 10, 2023). Through all of these appointments and also digital communication, everyone I have met/talked with is extremely knowledgeable, caring and effective in making my care happen in the best way possible. The overall experience has been great! The office space itself is also lovely, the time the drs spend with you is great, and it's so easy to schedule an appointment online, even if you need something day of. read more

TL;DR - I love this Doctor's office! I hate going to the Dr's. I hate making appointments, sitting in a sterile waiting room and waiting to be seen by a physician. Tia really is the first Dr office I've ever liked, maybe in love! Tia came into my life during a moment of desperation. I had an HMO with Kaiser previously and absolutely hated my life with them; when I got my new job I turned to HD PPO... However, after coming home from a business trip sick out of my mind and body - not due to COVID - I was in need and Tia was advertised to me via TikTok and I went head first in! I'm so glad I did. I was able to book a same day virtual appointment then an in-person appointment the next day after spending maybe an hour filling out preliminary paperwork. The first appointment was great. We went through personal health history. This made my in-person appointment a breeze! The RN had already reviewed the notes and went straight to business. It was fantastic! I even had a followup blood drawn appointment that I was 2 days early for... And they got me in the same day. I loved that they check weight unless you want to (or you can simply state it), the waiting room was open and colorful with plenty of amenities, and I loved their robes! They gave me awesome goodies including socks and pads to take home too. Overall, I recommended this clinic already to a bunch of friends! I can't wait for them to experience Tia. read more

TLDR: This clinic is the equivalent of putting a McDonald's burger on a ceramic plate, adding a sprig of parsley and tripling the price. Don't go here unless you have money to burn. At first glance, Tia looks awesome. It's pricey, but they have an extensive questionnaire to really get a comprehensive view of your medical history, they have inclusive options for queer identities, and their whole web interface is very nice and modern, catered to your medical concerns. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes clear that these people have no idea what they're doing. All I wanted was birth control to tackle my PMDD. Under my health insurance, it should've been the low, low price of $0. But by poor chance, I was prescribed one of the few birth controls that isn't covered, so the prescription came out to the high, high price of $600. No problem, I can just call and get a new prescription, right? Wrong. Tia might have the fancy "Care Team Chat" and the phone line, but I had to spend my whole day off playing phone tag between my pharmacy and provider, explaining myself and the situation repeatedly, and my pharmacy STILL doesn't have my adjusted prescription. I could dismiss this as a simple misunderstanding, but apparently they were bad enough that my pharmacist noticed. She said she tried to get my Tia provider's number so I didn't have to play phone tag, but my provider was apparently "very shady", "not wanting to cooperate", and "being very dismissive". Gross. I've continued to message Tia, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they've grown increasingly less cooperative, and now I'm realizing that they just don't care. They're a mediocre clinic with a pretty facility and enough "amenities" to look good. Anyways, if you have $953 ($600 prescription + $333 virtual appointment + $20 membership) to burn on birth control, then this might be great for you. Didn't plan to post review for Tia given the short period of time its SF clinic is in business. However, I changed my mind because of a prior review recommending against older women. Without compromising my privacy, I am an "older" women in perimenopause with many chronic health issues and a complicated medical history. I loved my experience with Tia thus far for reasons below - 1/ Tia record is easy and their questionnaires are comprehensive; 2/ Tia appointment are widely available (which might change in the future as they expand their customer base) ; 3/ Tia providers give comprehensive care plans, for example, they would include PFPT, acupuncture in their care plan; 4/ Tia takes and works with your private insurance. For my whole health exam, I message them to explain that I already had my annual physical at my prior provider, they had no problem with billing it as a new patient establishment appointment; 5/ Tia clinic offers PFPT, acupuncture, massage services at a convenient central location in SF with parking validation; all of these services cater to older women who have less childcare burden, more available time, and more chronic issues that could benefit from these holistic care; 6/ I had my annual blood work done 3 months ago. Thanks to Tia provider's decision, I redraw the labs at Tia, which captured some serious abnormality that apparently developed after my recent annual physical. I can't wait for my follow-up virtual visit to discuss and address the issue. Without Tia, there could be more than a year's delay in the diagnosis, which could be catastrophic. Finally, I pair Tia with Midi, which is another SF startup founded by former Tia physician and backed up by experts from UCSF, Brigham Women's Hospital, etc. If you are have a history of gyn cancer, infertility, PCOS, or struggle with menopause symptoms, I highly recommend checking them out (joinmidi.com). I hope that one day Tia can form a clinical collaboration with Midi to share records, clinical decision making, and provide better care for older women in their clientele. read more

Fabulous new practice for women's health care in the Bay Area. I have never been to a health care practice before where every single person I encountered (virtually and in-office) is kind, empathetic, and competent. And with five children, I have a lot of experience with other women's healthcare options to compare this practice to! You feel well-treated, welcomed, and valued. The facility is super clean, well-organized, and spacious. Drinks and comfort items are available in every sitting spot. As they scale up and bring in more patients, I hope they can continue to operate at such a high level of care. I'm truly impressed! read more

Tia is terrible. I signed up for it last year and had an appointment with them which was suppose to a care appointment but it was completely bogus. The provider asked me bunch of basic questions and just said I need a follow up. I could have just answered those questions via chat.T he person literally talked to me for 10 mins and they charged $186 for it. I would have been fine if the appointment actually helped me with anything. It literally a scheduling visit. When I reached out to them they told me their initial journey is split into 3 appointments (which BTW was not communicated to be in the initial appointment). Since then I have reached out to them multiple times to cancel my membership and they haven't done so and they offered me free one year membership and I refused. Not only the didn't give the membership for free but they continue to charge me a monthly fee and then told me I can't cancel my membership until Sept 2025 as per some terms of use. I now have to contact my credit card company to deal with it. I cannot believe the unethical practices of this company. they claim to make things transparent and easier but they are worse than regular hospitals and clinic. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP TO Tia as once you give them your credit card information it is impossible to cancel. They are literally the worst healthcare provider I have dealt with and that is says something. read more

not flexible and more expensive than a normal women's healthcare clinic. Upon traveling to my appointment I got stuck in unexpected gridlock traffic - my expected arrival to the clinic was just two minutes beyond the 10 minute grace period, and this led the Tia team to cancel my appointment that was booked over a month in advance. I hope a women's care clinic would have more understanding and empathy for unexpected events that arise and offer more flexibility in their dealing with patients. The rigidity of the office staff turned me off quite a bit and I left the clinic for another practice. read more

I honestly wish I could say that I love Tia. I've been using their services for the last six months and for every one good thing, there have 2-3 bad. For example, getting signed up and my first Telehealth appointment was extremely easy and quick. They had a lot of availability so the wait wasn't long. However, for my first appointment, shortly before it was scheduled they emailed me and said that time was no longer available and rescheduled me for a week or two later. This has happened two different times for two different appointments. Every Telehealth appointment I have had with the NPs were great. Then, when I went in to see the doctor, the facilities were nice and clean, but then the doctor herself left something to be desired. For one, OBGYN is a sensitive exam and she said some less than sensitive things that have still stuck with me but I won't put on here. Another example is that I began to finally see a 1:1 therapist after being on the waitlist for a month. Then on February 16, Tia announced that it would no longer be offering 1:1 therapy sessions By March 10. My current therapist thankfully has a private practice, but she doesn't accept my insurance. I feel like they ripped the rug out from under us, but I also don't understand why they are cancelling something that has had a consistent waitlist. Overall, I think for something that charged a membership fee, it's not worth it. Unfortunately I paid for the year already. read more

Tia is a new breed. I have done everything at Tia. From blood draws, OB exams, massage and acupuncture. The staff is beyond kind. Nurses and docs are so compassionate and understanding. I currently pay out of pocket because me insurance doesn't cover Tia. But it's worth it for me, getting answers and the tests I want without jumping through hoops. If your insurance covers Tia, go to them! Extra fun because the place is beautiful with free drinks and snacks. read more
