Well coat me in sambal and call me spicy, there's a new Malaysian restaurant just down the road…read morefrom me and I don't know what its name means but it's fun to sound out phonetically. Berempah. See? Swung past for one of their lunch specials, got the $9.90 vegetarian curry (with a hit of sambal on the side, natch). Welcome to flavourville, population: your homeboy me. The curry is made on lentils with big steaming hunks of potato and eggplant, there's tomato and carrot in there, and coriander and chilli. I'd actually eat it just as a soup but I love rice so much I'll never look a gift rice in the face if someone is throwing it at me. I'd just catch it in a bowl and now it's my rice. These guys better get used to seeing me at lunchtimes on my phone.

One of the few restaurants that open early, at 5:00pm. With young kids it was nice to be able to…read moreeat early. The service was pretty good and the portions reasonable. Food tasted good. The kids had satay chicken and spring rolls followed by deep fried battered squid. I can't help but compare them to the Salt & Pepper Squid served in the Qantas First Class Lounge in Sydney. They taste just the same! The Fried Koay Teow was a little pale but pretty good. The specialty of the house, crispy skin pork in special sauce was good but a little too oily. I could not eat too many pieces. The curry chicken with Roti was ordinary. Sambal Kankong was passable. There was no iced Kopi, so I settled for iced milk tea. This was extremely sweet but tasted okay when you add a bit more water.

Oh my! Was expecting a lot more from this place! It's a little difficult to get too and park. This…read morehas been a while so my logic was it must still be around for a reason The a/c was barely enough for such a hot day The one positive is that the food came out fast. Too bad the food ain't that good. The various dishes did not impress Inchin kabin chicken was the best but had bones attached to it,that lost sum appeal because of it Belechan beans was ok but not as tasty as I expected Choon piah was ok also Sambal seafood egg tofu, egg tofu is really nice but the rest was pretty plain Portion sizes all looked small for the prices you pay Won't be back

Awesome Malaysian restaurant albeit at slightly premium prices (but who cares when you can get food…read morethis authentic). My favourite has to be the fried koay teow (extra spicy for me) which has good heat and the nice garlicky burnt taste that we are so used to. Has to be one of the better Char Koay Teow dishes I have tastes compared to Perth and Melbourne Malaysian restaurants. Also had the Christmas special: Nyonya fish head curry - at $38 it was a steal. Curry was flavourful (probably similar to a chicken kapitan) with lady's fingers, aubergines and a large fish head full of hidden nooks and crannies of succulent fish meat and stuff. Sambal does a decent cendol too. So for all you Malaysians who whinge about the price - think about (The Malaya at Darling Harvbour) which is probably a tenth as authentic at probably double the price and you have things in a better pespective.

You know the saying "the less you give, the less you get"? In this case it is entirely untrue…read more There is very little I can say about this restaurant without having to mask my disappointment too much. The thing is I'd read a bit about this place before we went, so I may have had high expectations. Although there are no complaints in the service department, unfortunately the team was yet again let down by the area concerning the food, which (obviously) is why we usually go out to eat. For the tiny bowl of boiled rice and small of plate of fried rice we received for $10.50 I didn't see our value for money. And as for the food? It was quite ordinary, a bit bland in some dishes (the garlic chicken dish and ham and chicken rolls), and our crispy skin chicken was dry - so again not seeing the value there either. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes? Maybe they were having an off day? Whatever it was, first impressions win again, the chances of me ever going there again are highly unlikely, on a scale from One to If I Have To.

I literally just finished eating and had to run straight to my laptop to post this review. I can't…read moreactually think of words I can use to describe just how wonderful the food here is, my family and I ordered takeaway and all of us were astounded by the amazing quality of the food, everything was cooked beautifully and so well seasoned. I ordered Salted Tofu, Pork In Peeking Sauce and Fried Rice The salted Tofu was crispy on the outside and well seasoned, the Pork In Peeking Sauce was delicious and so tender and the fried rice was also really tasty. This is easily the best food I have eaten in a very long time and My family and I will absolutely be back, I also should mention the portion sizes are huge so make sure you are nice and hungry when you come here or order takeaway from here so you can enjoy as much of the wonderful food as possible. Can't rave about this place enough
