Zoë is anxious and ready to get back to the dojo and continue her quest for blue belt. The core principles taught at Tibon's Goju Ryu have been a solid foundation for Zoë. She took this knowledge and belief in herself to fight her Brain Tumor. The exercises for self discipline the kata's the blocks the kicks, the structure, the respect, the self-confidence and in the words of Sensei "I can do anything if I concentrate" repeated over and over and over to herself. This is a GREAT dojo! Familia Acosta loves this dojo. It's family oriented & a positive environment. Our oldest son began in 2011 & in 2019 our two younger sons joined. Look no further, this is the best Dojo for our children. Both of my kids loved it here and myself as well. My daughter started since 4 yrs old and now she's is 10, and now my 6 yrs old son just started and super into it. If you have little ones that is a bit shy, Asa is an excellent instructor for the little ones, so moms don't worry. He gives great instructions and very patient with them. They also have tournaments locally that our children can participate and see if they would like to advance further. Its great to see our kids have a chance to show their karate skills they have worked so hard for at these tournaments. They get to build self esteem, interact with new athletes and be fearless. Mr Tobin and his wife both are great & humble people, and you are welcome here with sincere. Both of my nephew and nieces also went here for years and now off to College. As I have just joined the dojo my experience is limited, but I will share what I can. So to put in in perspective I stand at five foot eleven and 300+pounds. I joined the dojo because I trained in martial arts when I was in my teens and honestly it was great exercise. I was not fat shamed at the Dojo and in fact everyone was happy to get to know me and work with me at my own pace as I have been out of shape. I am already feeling stronger (and a bit sore) then I did before I started. You really get a good training session here. I would recommend Tibon's to anyone I know if you want real traditional Japanese Karate training. read more

I am so happy that I started my kids with this dojo. When my kids were little , I went to some other dojo's and checked around to see where I wanted my kids to learn karate from. I decided to start them out at gymstars and it was a great place to start my kids. But I am so happy that I switched them to the main dojo after several years of karate. Sensei Tibon's students really do stand out from other dojos. At our last tournament in the Bay Area, my daughter was in the staging area with other girls she was up against. The girls asked my daughter which dojo she was from. When my daughter told them she was from Tibon's goju ryu, the other girls responded; " oh no!". My daughter brought home gold in kata and kumite that day. If you want your kids to really be good at martial arts, Tibon's goju ryu is the place. They don't just learn karate, but life lessons, self defense and leadership as well. I am so thankful that my 3 kids are part of this karate family.
