We brought our daughter to Valor Main Gym in Stockton today for her first class since we had been going to the other Valor gym. We didn't realize the class schedule started earlier here, so unfortunately we missed her class. Even so, Coach Ian was kind enough to let my daughter join in with his daughter's training since we were already there. Coach Ian and the whole team were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable right away. Even though it was only a quick 15-minute introduction, my daughter had an absolute blast! Coach Ian made the class fun and engaging, and it was great to see his wife join in the training as well. The instructors at this martial arts house are patient, competent and compassionate. My child is wild and has the attention span of an ant and yet the coaches, no matter who it is that day, are kind and firm. Never getting annoyed with the little kids only responding with gentle redirections. On top of that, the curriculum is age appropriate with the perfect balance of technique and time to play. In traditional training houses, instructors will sometimes do things the "old school" way like public humiliation, fear, and shame as motivators. Not here. They are traditional in ways that matter like the music and language. The trainers here use positive reinforcement and notice when someone needs a little extra support. No one is left behind here. I have been training at Valor for almost 8 years now. I started when I was 11 years old, no confidence whatsoever, shy, nervous and scrawny. I didn't know how to defend myself and I was getting bullied at school. My dad found VTC and signed me up. Now, I've never been to any other school for martial arts but I bet no other school for martial arts loves, goes into detail, and has the greatest passion that Valor does. If you are a beginner, they take is real easy and they will help you out. If you're more advanced, they will help you improve with proper technique or maybe to set up a more powerful addition to your advancement. From the beginning, when I walked into the training facility, I was impressed. The facility was clean, the equipment was kept up, and the staff was welcoming. When we discussed pricing, they were very informative, and I never felt pressured. I was quite surprised at how reasonable the prices were and the different packages they offered. It will be one year My son and I became involved at VALOR. Day 1 walking in after 3-4 mo. of hesitant thought. I was blinded by fear. The one regret I may ever have with VALOR is not coming in sooner.    When finally stepping foot in the door I realized quickly the place had no harsh ego.. I had lost my mom about 5 years earlier along with myself in some ways and my appetite.I hate to admit I wasn't very active or attentive for my kids. I was having trouble with anxiety and sleeping which made it even harder. My son was going through depression due to social separation and disconnect along with loss and lack of confidence he was bullied in school and didn't know why he even missed it I had no way out for him no solution it was rough and after a long 7 months I knew I was becoming weak, I was feeding the kids but not myself, I needed to eat better I knew I needed to be better for myself and my son and daughter I couldn't do it on my own but I didn't want to talk about it I just wanted to do something about it and being cooped up during COVID was not where I wanted to be as many of you understand... I needed something different something new...Well with a lil bit of curiosity and alot of hardwork and determination, constructive criticism open arms and listening ears I can now say I'm healthy and strong. My son has an outlet and great role models.I went from 90 pounds to 115 and lean. My 8 year old has not only lots of new friends but a six pack and eats like a grown adult and sleeps like a baby lol I'm the happiest I've been in a long time, and my son he is sweet, respectful and confident and ready to work towards the future however,  We know its not at the end of the journey we find happiness but along the way. The biggest room in the world, is the room for improvement. The knowledge gained is amazing for mental health and I highly recommend VALOR TRAINING CENTER to anyone no matter where you are in life. Its never too late to start especially when it comes to taking steps towards recovering your mental health and taking care of your body goals whatever those look like. Overpriced. And don't even complain because they will force you to go withdraw. They're charging $40 for belts every time they get tested now on top of the huge over $300 deposit and $107 charge a month. I sent a question over to Daymalie and she basically said these are your answers now go to the midtown branch and withdraw. Wouldn't even let me withdraw through email or nothing she made me go personally. She insisted so much damn right I went to withdraw my 3 children, drove 20 minutes there and back just to sign a paper a could've signed online. I work FT and school FT 3 kids 4 pets and this is the treatment they give, no sympathy not a care in the world about you other then getting their money. Like wow.. This place is absolutely amazing! They treat you like family and every employee knows you and calls you personally by name. Coach Cecil is one of the best coaches I've worked with (& I've worked with a lot). He pushes you to do your best every class. If you cannot do the workout move assigned, he modifies it to your personal level of fitness. He's extremely passionate and dedicated to training all of his clients no matter their level of fitness from beginner to advanced. He motivates us to be and do our best every day. I've personally heard him give encouragement to multiple clients when they really needed it the most. I've been working out with Valor in Stockton Ca, off lower Sacramento road for about 6 months. I requested to have one on one training and was assigned to Coach Cecil. Let me tell you Coach Cecil is the best trainer I ever had and I had a lot of trainers throughout the years and I never lost weight NEVER. With Coach Cecil, he helped me to shed weight in less than 4 weeks!!!! The knowledge and training that he has in fitness is mind-blowing.
