Buyer Beware! I am trying to figure out how this company is still in business? I used them twice when I sold both my houses. They are lazy, unprofessional, and ungrateful for their clients! They held up my escrow for five days, according to my real estate agent. When I inquired, of course, they denied it. But it is my opinion that if they don't handle a certain area that they could at least notify the loan company (buyer/sellers agent) that they do not handle it. News flash: Not everyone knows all aspects of your job! Therefore, it would be helpful if you could enlighten all parties involved instead of holding up escrow. Next, I get tax bills from both my properties that I sold back in January and August in the month of November. I contacted them right away. Carolyn called me back, so I asked her to please notify the city so that I wouldn't get these bills again. She responded by telling me the city was behind and that if I wanted to notify them, I could do it myself. Seriously?!? Is that how you treat a returning customer who paid your horrible company thousands of dollars? Therefore, I do not recommend this company, and they will NEVER get my business ever again! This Title company knowingly sat on almost $2000 in the form of a duplicate tax payment that was refunded to them by the County in early 2021. We inquired many many times. Claimed they couldn't find it. Claimed it was the County's slowness and bureaucracy. Seems my daughter is about to get it back. If it wasn't for the County calling the Title Co. on it, we may have never seen it. AWFUL. DON'T USE THEM! We're going to let the State of CA know about it. Shame on Ticor Title! read more

I recently had them handling a equity loan and they completely botched the payment distribution. It took me almost a month to get back money that should have been disbursed to me immediately and they made a total mess of credit card payoffs sending multiple payments to single cards and even to different financial institutions and then refused to provide an accounting for 3 weeks. Horrible experience dealing with their Newport Beach office via the lender. A lay-person could have done a much better job using common-sense rather than these inept "professionals". read more

Honestly if I could rate this escrow company with 0 stars, I would in a heartbeat. Michelle was awfully condescending and impatient. She sent us the deposit information on a Friday asking for us to wire the deposit because I was due on Monday. Well she didn't give us any information on where to wire the money to, so I responded and asked how and she didn't reply til Monday saying we were late and it should of been given to her already. I told her basically SHE messed up and she blamed it on us?? Why would WE dely when the housing market is this competitive?? Seriously? So I had to do a same day wire when she actually sent us the information, which was $30 mind you. THEN when it came to the Downpayment, same thing, she sent out her request (this time she sent the wire instructions) on a damn Friday. BANKS AREN'T OPEN WEEKENDS. So we had to rush to the bank because she told us the final due date was Monday morning... Again. Who the halibut asks for a final payment on Fridays KNOWING banks are closed weekends. Just not smart on their part. Horrendously stupid. I could probably over look how dumb they were if Michelle was more understanding of my work schedule and wasn't so condescending about it. I can't have my phone at work. I work in a damn prison. She did not understand why I wasn't answering my phone when she called. Maybe because I can't carry it with me 24/7? And her response..? "well you can find time to answer it, it would only take a few seconds" like lady... No I literally can't. My phone is in my car about a mile away. Anyway! Loann Le was the best one I talked to. I want to share my appreciation and admiration for Rachel Carrillo at Ticor Title. Rachel was absolutely splendid in responding to a mistake made on a mortgage closing. It involved directions from the bank to wire nearly $10,000 to Tricor Title that was not needed at the closing. A wire transfer "gone wrong" can often take a long time to rectify. Rachel's diligent help and follow-through resulted in the funds returned to my account the next day. The service was great; but more important to me was Rachel's empathy and reassurance that she would see to it that the money was returned -- whatever it took. I am very thankful she was on my team. read more

Working with Ticor has been a complete nightmare. The arrogance and carelessness of the group of people we worked with absolutely blew my mind. The buyer of our home chose to use them to handle the sale. The first sign that things weren't going well came after they had to call my husband and myself back in to sign paperwork that they forgot to include in the original title documents. When we showed up to sign we were rudely told that they weren't expecting us (even though they were the ones to call us in) and we would just have to wait until they had time to notarize our documents. The next issue came when they refused to accept our receipt from San Diego County showing we had paid our property taxes and demanded that we provide them with a bank statement verifying that the money had cleared our account. Upon giving them what they asked for, the woman handling the transfer of funds said that she still wasn't sure if that was adequate and if it wasn't we would just have to wait 45 days for her company to process and transfer the proceeds from the sale of our home to the escrow of our new home purchase. What??? Luckily we were able to talk to someone capable of giving a clear answer and making a decision who promptly transfered our money over. Where it stands now, we are still dealing with them to get the full amount from the sale of our home transfered over as they gave us an amount $1500 less than the amount we signed for and are blaming it on unspecified bank costs. We went with First American for the purchase of our new home and have been very happy. read more

As a full time Realtor, I have been using the Title services of Ticor for my primary Title Company recommendation since 2003. I have used them an averageof 7 times a year over the past 10 years. Title is different than Escrow, even though the company does both. Here I am talking about Title. My experiences with them have gone very well. They have never caused a transaction to be late or not close at all. There can be problems on the title of any property. Title Company is in charge of insuring that title against many different types of claims. They have to investigate anything that may cause a problem down the road. Have there been glitches & delays and extra proof required? YES, that is the nature of a title search and title insurance. Have they been handled professionally and courtiously? Yes. I was really disappointed in this experience. In 2020 I should not be filling out paperwork by hand. Sure enough there was a last minute issue because our there was a difference in how our names were listed on our loan and on escrow. We BARELY got it resolved to make our deadline. My understanding is that Ticor pushes through more in a month than most escrow companies and it shows in how they treat their customers. I hope I never have to go through this again. Having been in the real estate industry as both a mortgage and real estate broker since 1999, I have seen good escrow officers and, well, not so good. Carolyn Church has been handling my clients' transactions for the past 10 years. When I first go into the business, I went through a number of escrow officers before finding Carolyn. I may not be the easiest client as I do everything possible to make sure my clients have the smoothest escrow possible. My attention to detail and slight OCD does cause extra work for Carolyn but she accepts my rather demanding nature without pause.. Ticor is the worst title company I have ever come across in my 30+ years as a real estate broker. Both Carol Burton and Cindy Younger were unprofessional beyond belief. When a cloud was discovered on the title of my mother's property, I emailed the escrow officer who notified those 2. They were completely unconcerned about the liability of the Buyer and Seller and were only concerned with getting the sale. The only solution they could come up with was to call me and yell at me to "retract my email". They did this twice! Dealing with Ticor during my most recent house closing has been a nightmare. The person handling my file went on vacation and apparently did not appoint anyone to update the file in her absence. Therefore, when it came time to sign the documents, the escrow estimates, etc. were incorrect. It was like pulling teeth to get a new estimate statement, which we didn't even receive until we sat down to sign documents. Our lender required us to sign documents in the morning so they could be overnighted, but Ticor refused to take this deadline seriously. It wasn't until both buyer and sellers agents were on the phone that Ticor decided to "review" our documents and set a early afternoon appointment time. Turns out that the "final" escrow estimate was also wrong, requiring a second wire transfer (and additional missed work as we trudge back to the bank) by us. And throughout all of this, no appology has been given. We hope to stay in our house for a very very long time, but when it comes time to buy again, we will absolutely refuse to use Ticor. read more
