My daughter loves training at this Tiger Rock! The instructors (led by Mr. Thibodeaux) exhibit confidence, leadership, and integrity. I've also witnessed an increase of self confidence, assertion, focus and ability to follow instruction, not only in my daughter, but from every single kid in our belt level classes. Some progress faster than others, but definitive progress is obvious none-the-less. The ability of these instructors to instill those actions in kids is beyond what I've seen in other youth programs. Now, on to cost as referred to by some other reviewers. Yes, it's expensive. However, you get to go to an unlimited number of classes so you get out of it what you put in. If you go once a week, you'll get once a week value. If you go more, then you'll get more for your investment and see a faster development of skill. Every business can improve, and Tiger Rock is not immune to benefit from a tweak here or there. For example, they really need to pro-rate months like December when they're closed for two weeks. And I witnessed one communication snafu. But overall, we find a lot of value and growth in this program and plan to continue for a long time. Certainly deserving of the 5 stars. read more

This place rocks!! We tried 2 other well known places for our son before making a decision to enroll here. He has been going there for a little over a year now, and completed the Tiger Club program. He has now turned 6 and moved up to the white/yellow belt classes. The main instructor is amazing with the kids... ALL of the kiddos. He has an amazing staff that assists with the kids. They offer classes all week long, and for a very low monthly tuition, you can attend as many as you like. My son is very excited to come home after class and show me the things he has learned. He was a bit of a hyper kid when he started, but I can definitely tell that he has matured through this program, and their instructors!!! They continue to impress us!! Highly recommend! read more

**Parents: Read This Review** - Tiger Rock is a good martial arts school but there are a few things you should know. 1) You are not learning standard taekwondo. Tiger Rock has modified theirs slightly. If you ever move or want to find a different martial arts school then it has to be another Tiger Rock school or your kid may have to start over as a white belt. 2) Master Vidal does a good job with kids but in our intro class he promised he would personally teach the class 90% of the time. It was more like 50% of the time. His assistants did a good job but not nearly as charismatic as he is. 3) They care a lot about money. It already is $120 per month for classes but when your student goes for a green belt (white, yellow, then green, and it doesn't take long), they will charge you $340 for gear and testing on top of your $120 per month. So that month will be $460 in martial arts classes! Between this and other interactions it made me feel like the money was more important than the kids. I guess that is OK because after all this is a business and he needs to make money and pay the Tiger Rock franchise fees. If you just want a good class that is close to where you live Tiger Rock will do but I decided it was time to find a different location for my son. Tiger Rock offers an excellent program for kids. They teach not only taekwondo, but also self confidence, focus and discipline. Mr. Petry, the lead instructor, sees to it that each student performs to the best of his ability. The rest of the instructors complement him. As another reviewer noted, in addition to the monthly fee, there are additional fees for belt tests, as well as safety gear for green belts. Overall, the price is fair. We're happy with our experience at Tiger Rock. There are some strengths and weaknesses to the academy. Strengths - good instructors. Motivating, positive. They're solid people and help the kids learn discipline, respect, self-control in addition to tkd. Good sense of humor most of the time. Weaknesses - communication can be inconsistent. Classes are very full now, so your kid is in a packed room and very little room for parents to wait in the lobby. There's a bit of "nickel-and-dime" going on - at the end of the day, this is a business and profit is the bottom line, and it shows. This is not a cheap sport, so be prepared. The instruction can be inconsistent - a kid could get disciplined for something and another kid does the same thing and gets no reaction. There is no referral incentive - at all. Some places will give a small credit to your account or even a month's free tuition. They could throw a free t-shirt at you and that would be great, but we've never received any acknowledgment for the friends of ours who have signed up because we invited them to try the place out. My experience was awful at this location. So much so that my son never wants to take a martial arts class again. My son likes to question things. He's a curious boy. I forgot the gist of it but there was some game between the adults and kids and the kids won. Tim said they won. After the class, my son asked why the adults won. He pinched my sons ear and said the adults won. My son was so upset he came home crying. I asked him what was wrong (his ear was red) and he told me that Tim pinched his ear because he asked a question. Of course I called to hear Tim's version of the story. Right away he was defensive and denied pinching his ear. Said my son made it up. I told him it was a very specific lie for a 7 year old to make up. He then proceeded to tell me that it's best my son leaves the class. No kidding! I wouldn't want my son to experience that again! read more

You will notice LOTS of kids in this dojo, too many kids....he is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! You can get your kids in programs that are world recognized programs for half of the money and not have to deal with this ego maniac. After 3 years of membership Mr. Vidal, the owner, terminated our membership via email because he didn't see eye to eye with me on on an issue that took place there with out 10 year old little girl. An instructor there singled her out and all we wanted was a little assurance that it would not happen again. He basically called my 10 year old little girl a liar, a straight A student that has shown no propensity and had absolutely nothing to gain from it! He didn't even have the dignity to call us and discuss this, I just opened my email and there it was. No reason, no explanation, no anything. It actually said do not contact him whatsoever! What kind of a person does that? My kids were so devastated when I told them we weren't going back they were crying! This place was great in the beginning, as it continues to grow it continues to be more and more about numbers and less and less about the people, obviously. Again...You can all see that there are more and more kids everyday, so please know that to Mr. Vidal your kids are EXPENDABLE! I am still at a loss as to how a grown man can be so cowardly and hurt children this way because he doesn't agree with what a parent said. People don't always agree, you agree to disagree and you move on, which is what I thought had happened. You don't take it out on the kids. After 3 years of membership Mr. Vidal, the owner, terminated our membership via email because he and my husband didn't see eye to eye on an issue that took place there. He didn't even have the dignity to call us and discuss this, I just opened my email and there it was. No reason, no explanation, no anything. It actually said do not contact him whatsoever! What kind of a person does that? My kids were so devastated when I told them we weren't going back they were crying! This place was great in the beginning, as it continues to grow it continues to be more and more about numbers and less and less about the people, obviously.
