We got bubble tea for take out. I got the brown sugar bubble milk tea. The bubble tea comes with swirl of brown sugar so I mixed as much as i can before trying. I thought that the tea was okay. Typical sweet milk tea. Maybe a bit less sweet than I'm used to. Bobas were nice and chewy and sweet. The boba did get squished together so it was difficult to eat as it got stuck in the straw. Tried the Mango Sago. Refreshing and tropical. My drink leaned a little on the sweeter side, but you can adjust the sugar level to your liking. Mango sago is hard to find in RI and I usually have to get it in Boston so having it right on Thayer is a win. You can order at the counter or on the self-serve screen, which is convenient if you want to take your time looking through the menu. The shop itself is small and narrow with very limited seating. Definitely not the kind of spot you'd bring a laptop to camp out, it's more of a grab-and-go place. That said, it's clean and the staff are friendly. Been here a few times since my last review. Had a couple of duds and will never order them again. I can't remember the one from last time but they asked me if I wanted soy powder. So sure what the heck. It was very gritty. Like a barely mixed protein shake. I suppose that's what it became lol. This time my son ordered the #6 the brown sugar mochi boba milk with cream. Soooo the cream... it's a weird texture. Like you kind of have to chew it. I think they over whipped it and it started to become butter. It's like a very soft whipped butter. And it didn't dissolve at all in the drink. Being Asian I like all those different textures but my son and his gag reflex was in full alert. So we ended up trading. The lines are always super long in here and there's always only 1 or 2 workers. Also when you leave a cash tip they don't acknowledge you. The newest addition to the Thayer St/PVD boba scene, Tiger Sugar is most famous for their brown sugar boba and coffee-based boba drinks. While they hands down have the best "bubbles" in the area (with an iconic "QQ"/chewy mouth feel), it's frustrating that the levels of ice and sugar can't be adjusted -- and the drinks are quite sweet. Nevertheless, I'm a fan of their #4 when I'm open to a sugar rush! Service and staff are very friendly and fast. I've been to both Tiger Sugar locations in Boston, but this one is bigger than both of them combined. I've tried the classic #1 brown sugar milk tea, brown sugar pudding, and the limited edition strawberry mochi. The boba generally comes with both small and regular-sized tapioca pearls which may be confusing if you are not a regular boba consumer. There are no options to change sugar or ice levels which is disappointing. However, having those options changes the flavor itself. I think the staff and service were friendly and fast, considering how busy boba shops can get at any hour of the day. This is definitely just a grab-and-go type of shop but it's well worth the stop if you are in the area. read more

We were walking by and noticed this new place on Thayer Street so we went in to check it out. I'm not an expert on bubble tea but do enjoy them so we ordered their signature drink, a black sugar boba with pearl milk, and a mango sago. Our first visit was over their grand opening weekend so the staff was being trained, learning their workflow, and how to use the different machines so it took a little bit longer than expected for our drinks to be ready. The wait was totally worth it and we have been back a few more times to try additional drinks and they have all been good so far. The story of how the drinks get their name is a reference to the way the syrups are layered into the cup, mimicking tiger stripes. We're looking forward to our next visit. read more

We loved the workers but the drinks on the other hand... first they advertise a large boba drink on the screen that's costs eight dollars. There's no indication that the large boba was actually grass jelly cut into spheres. For the eight dollar price, you get a dalgona coffee that everyone made during quarantine and tricked into buying grass jelly. And then we we asked how we could eat this cause there's no large boba straw. Then the really nice worker was like oh I'm so sorry you have to break it up and then didn't have any spoons so what the hell am I supposed to do with that. I don't blame the workers at all, they were extremely helpful. I 100% blame the management at the store. After peeling the top off my drink and fishing the ice out to reach the boba, I discover the large boba that was advertised is a scam. This is grass jelly in the shape of a sphere. it was not even good quality grass jelly. I can go to H Mart and buy jelly that's sweeter than this. I feel like I was eating grass no jelly. Also, they don't offer the option to change the ice and sugar levels at the kiosk. I'm left with a drink that is 15% topping, 35% ice, and 50 liquid/milk tea. Please do not come here if you care about your money or tastebuds. Also, their creamer smells funky like expired milk. The workers were so helpful through this crisis, they're the only reason I'm not giving this store a 2. Their strawberry mochi drink is so overpriced but it's good. I would only suggest getting white washed drinks here with no tea. TLDR; Don't come here if you want the taste the tea in milk tea. Come for their expensive gimmick drinks like the strawberry mochi drink without daifuku. Also, the workers are excellent and please tip them well. read more

Both tasted pretty good, bit too sweet even after telling them to reduce the amount of sugar. The boba/pearls themselves are bit small compared to other bubble teas i've had. Drinks I've had: TARO - Without a doubt the best taro boba currently to be had in PVD. Tiger Sugar uses real taro root, not powder like everywhere else so you get. Brown Sugar boba- the first time I had it during soft opening it was amazing, they used both small and large boba so the texture was great and the tea flavor strong. However the second time I had it, they used only one size boba and the tea was weak. I'd get it again though. MANGO sago- this drink was a disappointment. At other Tiger Sugars, the picture on the menu matched the actual drink with chunks of real mango piled high. The mango here was better than most using really puree but it wasn't nearly as good as other franchises I've been to Service- fast efficient service and love the order ahead ability on apps like Snackpass or using the kiosk at the store. Overall for boba 4 stars, no one boba shop does all things boba for me in PVD but this shop is definitely in the Top 2 right now bc they use good quality ingredients vs only powders like most shops. read more

Was very excited for Tiger Sugar to come to Providence! Friendly staff! Best drinks so far are the mango sago, matcha brown sugar and strawberry Mochi. Even though you can't adjust the sugar level of these drinks, it's not too sweet. I usually get 0% in my bubble teas! I have had Tiger Sugar drinks at various locations in the U.S. and in Asia and I was very pleased with the service and the quality. I recently had a drink in a relatively new Providence, RI location and it was less than ideal. First, it seemed there were only two people working at this location and I ended up waiting 20 minutes to get two drinks. When a place is selling $7+ drinks they need to hire enough employees, especially in a high traffic area like Thayer street. Second, l ordered a Mango Sago drink. I had this in both Asia and Las Vegas and it was delicious. It was made with cubes of real mangos just as they show in the pictures. The Mango sago drink I had in Providence tasted like it was canned or powered instead of made of fresh mangos. It seemed to be pureed instead of cubed like it is shown in their picture. That would be fine if they were charging $3 for a drink but not okay when charging so much. Third, the Taro drink (made with fresh Taro) was amazing and I would happily go back for this if they work out their process so it doesn't take so much time to get a drink. There is NOBODY in Rhode Island that offers anything even remotely close to this Taro drink. Hopefully, this Tiger Sugar location will make the required adjustments because once students come back in the fall, it seems they will have a tough time if they don't work out these issues. read more
